Going to the Carlsbad Library Tuesday, Sept 9th at 1pm, I passed this four foot high gusher at the stack 'n' pax on Normandy Street in Leucadia. When I returned one half hour later, the gusher was still going strong, so I pulled over to take pictures. Within minutes, a worker walked over, and covered the gusher with dirt, thereby creating a pool of water. Problem solved! On Wednesday, I did call the San Dieguito Water District to report this leak. Their response should be interesting.
Maybe Moses tapped it with his rod?
ReplyDeletePretty wasteful for sure. But how do you cover a gusher with a little dirt?
ReplyDeleteYou don't. Who covered it? inquiring minds would like to know. Perhaps the density bonus developer who cares soooo much about our community.
DeleteThat density bonus project is a tragedy. And now the city has installed bone-jarring speed bumps on Urania and Normandy.
DeleteThink of it this way: it'll slow Sheila down from frightening the kids in the other communities.
DeleteCan't wait to see Sheila win! More people will vote for her than the others care to think.
DeleteI've been saying all along there is no drought, this proves it.
ReplyDeleteJust got the water restriction notice today. Can only water 3 days a week in the evening, 10 minutes per station. Save water so the developers can jam more hamster hamlets in every square inch of open space, compliments of your City Council and City Manager. How about a moratorium on housing development? You can't appear credible on water conservation when additional units are being packed into place.
ReplyDeleteHow bout that sports park that nobody wants, next to a toxic freeway that no one wants their kids to play next to, with hiking trails along a noisy freeway (oh lovely) and wasted water up the wazoo! Jerome's folly it should be named.
DeleteYou should save water anyway, we're all in this together. That said, the question should always be asked "Where is the water coming from" with every new development. Maybe the drought will wake up some of our leaders as to our region's lack of water, but don't bet on it..
Delete4:36, The ocean breeze floats all those 5 toxins east. And you thought property was cheaper east of 5 because of ocean views?
Delete11:58 "floats all those toxins east?" Did you go to the same skool as the fire dept guy who claimed re: potential fire danger at Desert Rose "the wind blows just ten miles per hour on average in a year."
Delete4:45, what school taught you carbon monoxide is not affected by wind?
DeleteThe leak is on the property owner to fix. Not the city's responsibility.
ReplyDeleteRight you are. And that's the point. The houses aren't even finished yet and the sprinkler system has been on every day and now it's falling apart already. Can you imagine what those houses will look like in 5, 10 years? We are experiencing a severe water shortage, yet our cc manager wants us to build thousands of more houses that use water and resources. Idiots!!
ReplyDeletedo the affordable units for 'those people' get smaller pipes? What happened to the retention basins?
DeleteAsk Jeff Murphy, our smarmy Director of Planning. I'm sure he can pass you off to an equally slippery member of his department for a non-explanation.
DeleteHuge savings, over what, La Jolla?
ReplyDeleteBaird said he'd put the "rocks" from his martini on the lawn....
ReplyDeleteKLCC hate using any water… they prefer dust and garbage over everything.
ReplyDeleteIf you love crack and dirty everything, vote for Sheila KLCC Cameron.
Stupid comment.
DeleteBut true.
DeleteStupid and untrue, 8:38 and 9:23.
DeleteActually I think Sheila has done a lot to not keep Leucadia Crappy, but we wouldn't want to let facts and history get in the way of that. Sheila doesn't really have a horse in the game, it's Tony Vs. Kristin. Go Tony...
Delete6:45- please tell us what Sheila has done to make Leucadia nicer. Be specific. Under her tenure we were given a half ass storm drain system, and a Leucadia blvd that was a year behind schedule and $1M over budget.
DeleteWill she stand under the ENCINITAS sign in her campaign flyer again?? Or just reuse the old ones from the previous failed campaign ??
7:34, What hasn't been behind schedule? Sheila landed the $5 million to put a new storm drain down 101. Pascoe and the city passed the blame buck for the diameter of the 24" pipe being inferior to one larger. "The Coastal Commission said we couldn't" then the coastal commission said "We never said that". Turns out neither had to mitigate the error. Still, N 101 isn't under a foot of water when it rains heavily here anymore. Thanks Sheila. That was no small undertaking. Sheila also opened Leucadia Blvd and helped landscape it. Great variety. She also is responsible for renaming our hwy and First St.: "Coast Hwy 101". Sheila's vote cannot be bought and she never takes crap from anyone. She also helped retaining the downtown library location instead of moving it to Quail Gardens so developers could make another commercial corridor out of it. She's also the reasons council meetings are televised (to the chagrin of those anathema to transparancy). ....For starters. .......
DeleteLandscaped Leucadia blvd??? Lolollll. It's an eyesore !! Half of the landscape is dead and the other half dying!! Is she proud if that?? Probably so.
DeleteCharley charley charley, oh my. Marvy Making Leucadia Crappier. MMLC. Thanks for providing the impetus to call you out on your obsessions. Compulsion clearly rules the day in your world. What a sad sad creature you are.
ReplyDeleteWhat ever does Sheila have to do with the sprinkler leak on the Normandy McMansions? Crack and dirty everything? It is difficult to fathom your reasoning if there even is any and it obviously doesn't matter a bit to you that you continue to enforce the image you present here.
Why would you be going to the Carlsbad library when we have two perfectly ugly libraries here in a Enc??
ReplyDelete9:21, There are less First World Bitches in Carlsbad.
DeleteThat's my new band, first world bitches. I hope TK Arnold will give us a good review...
DeleteLook 9:11. We're all sorry you were bullied in school, but look what you've become.
ReplyDelete8:38 is the bully. 9:11 is a hero for calling him out.
