Sheriff IDs vehicle in hit-and-run

NBC 7:
Sheriff’s deputies identified a vehicle of interest in a hit-and-run crash that left a mother of two in critical condition on September 22, and they are asking for the public’s help.

The vehicle is a white 2016 Ford F-150 Platinum Edition pickup truck with a CA license plate 83524A2.

  1. They have the plate, so they know who owns the truck and where he lives. They check the owner's driver license to see if it matches the hit-and-run driver's description. Unless the truck was borrowed or stolen, the owner and driver are likely to be the same person. If so, they go to his house and pick him up or at least question him on his whereabouts when the woman was hit.

    What's the mystery?

  2. Asking for the publics' help? They already have witnesses who briefly talked to the suspect driver right after the accident. That should be sufficient for an identification, should he claim he was not the driver. Cops still haven't reported the details of the accident to the media - communication should be two ways.

  3. Now they have the name of the owner, they have enough cause to get cell phone records. They will know where the owner's cell phone was.

  4. Why are the sherif's helicopers allowed to buzz the community at 2am last night waking up everyone with non legible announcements over the loudspeaker.

City Council please discuss this on your agenda and put a stop to this damaging practice.

  5. Interesting to watch the sheriff's arrest and remove two drunk homeless persons from the Octoberfest yesterday but the drunk and homeless at Leucadia Roadside park are given a free pass. It took 6 sheriff's deputies to escort each bum to the squad car.

  6. Fricken Sheriffs are totally on relax mode in Encinitas.

They just can't wait to fly around at 2pm blaring their dumbass distorted speaker and waking up everyone for nothing.

..... they are just salavating for their new bikini patrol headquarters so four of them can dress up like army rangers and go perve out on all the swim suites.

Geeze- Who is directing their priorities?

It seems like they could use their time and a big chunk of taxpayers money more productively.

When is the last time you've seen a cop pulling over a straight-pipe motorcycle.

    1. The cops presence on the beach is totally unnecessary. This assignment will be the bonus reward that they'll all be after - they can bust seagulls for raiding food sacks.
