Forgive them; for they know not what they do

  1. One comment on another blog said that this mosaic has already been damaged by souvenir hunters - people are chipping away at it. If this damage continues, it may not be worth saving. Either protect it or remove it to a 'safer' location- make a decision.

  2. Yes, that's the white spot chipped out of her robe in the photo.

  3. Of course - I had overlooked the obvious. Sad commentary - people just can't leave well enough alone. To deface this art is sacrilege.

  4. sacrilege: violation or misuse of what is regarded as sacred

sorry but your religious icon doesn't mean shit to me. freedom of religion also means freedom from any religion being imposed. i personally don't think the mosaic being there is a problem, and the damage sounds like a reflection of society's general lack of respect for others' property, but on the other hand the piece has no right to be there, and when someone puts up a mural of a fat, Emperor Palpatine-ish Pope Ratzinger raping boys at surf camp, I doubt you'll be as supportive of freedom of expression.

  5. Anon 12:31,

That's a great idea for the next Kook prank! Do you think you can do it?

  6. 12:31 Did a priest get to you during the bend-over mea culpa? Such vile vitriol - real classy there. Don't worry - the mural is now doomed due to the vandalism.
