City Manager Brust resigns

Coast News:

As the city grapples with the coronavirus pandemic, residents and local officials find themselves confronted with a different challenge — finding a new city manager.

Earlier this morning, City Manager Karen Brust submitted her letter of resignation effective June 12, according to an internal city email received by The Coast News.
Convenient time to get out with that six-figure pension!

  1. Good Riddance to the worst City Manager in all of CA. This is the best thing to happen to Encinitas in 5 years. Hallelujah!!!!

She destroyed San Juan's City Hall and totally F'd up Encinitas. Lets her try and spend some the retirement. She looks like she will not outlast Muir, but who knows. Two fat cows that are bad for Encinitas tax payers.

  3. Thank God she's gone. The sooner the better. The Mayor should lock her out of City Hall.

This lockdown she ordered has everyone stressed to the max and its totally unnecessary. The COVID numbers for San Diego have been consistently low, pre lock down and since.

Sweden has it right and did not harm their citizens by a self made Depression. Now we get to experience all the death and negative impacts to public health from the crappy City Manager's bad call and City of Encinintas City Council making the wrong call and closing everything including the coast. The State didn't even want to close the coast, until the City of Encinitas was pushing for it.

Now, COE gets to live with all the blood on their hands for this self imposed lock down and closing the coasts. I heard job loss is huge like over 40% of people lost their job or had an associated reduction in income. I heard alcohol sales were up 250% and other stress related stories. I sure hope we do not see a spike in suicides and felonies. All the deaths and hard time above the previous projections are all blood on the CEO for their poor leadership.

Be more like Sweden, keep the parking closed and open the beaches for starters.

The longer you wait, the more unnecessary blood on your hands.

    1. Sweden has the highest death rates from C-19 out of all the nordic countries, while experiencing the same economic downturn.

    2. Fatalities in the Scandinavian nation topped 1,300 on Thursday — far worse than Denmark, Norway and Finland, which all implemented containment measures, according to the latest figures from Johns Hopkins University.

By comparison, Denmark has reported 321 COVID-19 deaths, Norway has reported 150 deaths and Finland has reported just 75, the data shows.

As the pathogen spread, Denmark and Norway reacted quickly to close borders and shut schools, while Finland closed most schools and contained its main urban region.

    3. 12:33- you are an idiot and can not even understand statistics.

      https://www.statista.com/statistics/1104709/coronavirus-deaths-worldwide-per-million-inhabitants/

Look at the numbers - Sweden death rate per million from COVID = 10

USA death rate per million from COVID = 327.

Go back to 2 grade math.

And Encinitas City Council be more like Sweden and OPEN THE. COAST.

    4. 9;02 talking about going back to school and can’t even read the chart he posted. Fucking idiot. Sweden death rate is 130.9/million US is 101.55. Per the chart dipshit posted above. Sweden still has two weeks until they peak, US will be in a couple days. Sweden will suffer more and for longer. The last place you want to be like is Sweden.

    5. Actually you are somewhat right on the chart issue, but really off of the rest. I posted the wrong column statistics relating to the county's population not deaths per million. The deaths per million are closer to what you posted, but are changing as new data is received. Currently the stats show 137 deaths/million citizens for Sweden and 112 deaths/million citizens in the USA which is relatively the same. Yet Sweden kept living and in fact took the opportunity to educate its citizens on how to strengthen their immune systems. Unlike in Encinitas, where the Mayor shuts down the beach, shuts down all walking and exercising along the coast, shut down other major exercise walking pathways and tells everyone to stay indoors and spend more time watching video screens.

By not shutting down their society, Sweden is much further along with the curve then the USA..... USAs will go on longer and with a much higher death count because their policies created massive stress for its citizens which will reflect in the nation health statistics for years to come.

Way to go Developer's Whore. Way to show you are a minion and can not use your brain to make good decisions for Encinitas. The values you promote include:

      1. High density like Hungtington beach and down town LA (bad for virus spread).

      2. More transit where people need to wait longer, its more expensive and you get to pick up all the other passengers diseases. (bad for virus spreading)

      3. Developer's Whore (DW) supports inviting and paying for the world's homeless to come and live along Encinitas coastline for free and we citizens will bear all the costs including major reductions in our quality of life.

      4. DW does not have common sense and approve things all the time that are bad for Encinitas.

      Developer's Whore must go.

  5. I will always appreciate that she got rid of Manjeet and others. As a parting gift, she should clean out the Planning Department. Citizens would give her an award to be free from these incompetents.

  6. Brenda Wisneski left a few months ago. It seemed like she was the enforcer for the City Manager. So some of the cleanup has been happening.
