  1. Better check out the massive storm drain installation to carry the water runoff from the mesa about 12 years ago. Was Sunshine Gardens include in this new storm drain system?

    1. Don't worry - it will be a clustered mass of high rise condos in a few years. Pack the rats in , so that a pandemic can have them gnawing at each others' throats. M. Gonzales can be in his haz-mat suit pitching units, with built in respirators, in every death trap!

  2. Open the coastline!!!! The sidewalks are twice as crowded and 1,000 times as narrow as the typical section of the coastline and people are not maintaining physical distance of over 1 foot.

The City is making things much worse by keeping the coastline closed. I suggest keeping the parking along the coast closed to help manage. the influx of people and letting people get out in the shine and exercise along the coast. The ocean builds the immunity system which is what we need.

Do not listen to that quack fake Phd. Pam..... she is a bozo.

Do what is best for public health. OPEN THE COASTLINE!!!!!!!!!

  3. City of Encinitas- You do not know What the F' You Are Doing!!!!!

OPEN THE COAST- The numbers to not support your stupid actions again. Just like putting all the porto potties around town because SD had a Hep problem. You make shit up and wing it and its bad for us citizens.

Look at these numbers. its flat line for the last 2 months. At this pace the curve would extend for 3 years to test through the population of San Diego County.

  5. Dear City Council,

Don’t listen to random dummies on a blog. Make your decisions based on guidance from the County Health Dept, medical professionals, and scientists.

If you are ever confused as to which is which, remember that people who know what they are talking about don’t need all caps and repeating exclamation points to get attention.

    Thanks.

Your part of the problem. You do not use your brain and obviously do not have any common sense.

City Council- Use your brain and OPEN THE COAST!!!!!!!!!!

  7. This post was not about coronavirus, or the City's decision to close the beaches. This post was about Sunshine Gardens being completely destroyed by flash flooding. People lost their businesses in a matter of hours. Sunshine Gardens has been a staple here in town since 1963.

Nice job taking over a post about Sunshine Gardens to continue ranting about coronavirus. Happy Easter.

    1. The city needs to investigate why this happened. All the promises about projects being built to withstand 100- and 500-year storms are just boxes ticked by city hall.

Blakespear is no different than Stocks in her rush to keep developers happy.

Look no further than the current Bonita Dr. neighbors who begged for protection from what will certainly be significant flooding from the density bonus project on their street.

Blakespear could not wait to issue her standard "Going with our 'professional staff's' recommendations to deny the appeal."

Time for some real accountability and if the city won't step up with good answers, Sunshine Gardens owners needs to demand them.

Bonita neighbors are now forced to sue the city - so much for Blakespear's promise to "stop the bleeding" from lawsuits. Could Sunshine Gardens be far behind?

    2. Bonita residents bought land in a natural sump.

      Which is really really stupid.

Next time stand on property you are considering for purchase and look around you. If it’s uphill in all directions, don’t buy it.

      Delete
    3. Bonita developers developed in a natural sump and hid it from buyers with the help of Blakespear's "professional staff." This sounds like criminal behavior all the way around.

    4. How does one hide the concept that water flows downhill?

      Caveat Emptor.

  8. Whoa... a quail was lost. That is sad. That is what happens when you build in a flood way.

Well on a issue that affects hundreds of thousands of people, OPEN THE COAST!

Use your brain and follow accurate science. Call out that the Emperor has no cloths, the world is not flat and OPENING THE COAST IS GOOD FOR PUBLIC HEALTH.

    - Happy Easter!

    1. Listen, I actually agree with you that our beaches should be open right now. All I'm saying is that this post was about Sunshine Gardens - not the closure of our beaches. Don't be such an insensitive prick. These folks just lost their livelihood.

    2. Name calling is not very nice. Oh well, some people aren't very nice. It sounds to me like the quail lost its life, and these folks were a bit flooded. It didn't seem that big of a deal. They didn't even have to move any animals. Quite being so dramatic and this is what insurance addresses. Geese. Happy Easter.

  9. Was the same Passco engineer who assured the city at the Hymettus/Fulvia development that there would be no flooding have any input at Sunshine Gardens and its future development plans?

Abject failure again and again with any prospective property owner using his opinion on anything. He is a well paid tool.

Every time I see his involvement in a development project, my skin crawls. How many failures will it take before our city uses his opinion for the last time?

    1. Pasco must be doing something right to keep the project awards coming despite all the screwups.

Quote from Leucadia blog in 2005:

"Every time a storm hits Leucadia a small army of public servants shows up. Sheriff, public works, and fire departments block off streets and pump water away from the system (much of their work is overtime)."

http://www.theleucadiablog.com/2005/11/what-is-pasco-fiasco.html. How this outfit stays in business is anyone's guess, but the name "Pasco" shows up to this day on a lot of big projects around town.

      Sound familiar 15 years later?

    2. Whoops, the link is broken. JP - help! w

If memory serves, the wrong size pipe was used. Damage done, city never found money to fix.

  10. The beaches should be opened NOW! Crowding the rail trail and sidewalks by having the coast closed is NOT helping solve a pandemic. Is our leadership completely clueless? Open beaches now!

    1. Blame the fuckups who clustered on the beach.

Some of us tried to warn them.

      Delete
  11. No. The City closed the beach which is bad for public health. If some fuckups were clustering, they should have got told to not cluster or other enforcement.

Are they going to start enforcing all the clustering violations on all the sidewalks and bikelanes throughout the City?

Open the beaches. It's the only sensible path forward.

  12. Sunshine Gardens (Housing Element Site)

MULTI-Permit to allow for a 140 unit residential development, boundary adjustment, Design Review Permit and Coastal Development Permit

    MULTI-0036-29-2020; BADJ-003630-2020; CDPNF-003631-2020; DR-003632-2020

I wonder if they are planning on an underground parking garage?

  13. You have been placed under house arrest for a crime that has not been specified, nor have you had a trial in a court of law. But you have been convicted.
    Go back to work.
    Go to the beach.

  14. Do this community a favor and ignore all the warnings about how to not spread or become infected.

Do this community a favor and go out every day in public.

Do this community a favor and congregate with anyone you can find.

Do this community a favor and stop washing your hands.

Your problem will be solved in due time, along with this community being better off in due time.

    1. Oh, I’m smart enough and self-aware enough that when it comes to giving pandemic response advice, I’m DEFINITELY stupid and do not matter.

The only difference between us, is that you are so stupid, you don’t realize how stupid your are.

Unless you have an MD, and or have been working a paid job in infectious disease management for a minimum of five years, then your opinion means SQUAT, and you don’t matter.

  16. Anyone expecting the city or city staff to do the job they are over paid and over pensioned to do is not paying attention.
With a record drop in revenues, look for the council to be handing out pay raises and pension increases to the staff for a job well done....

  17. Time to turn your attention to the finer things in life being built in Encinitas by Suffolk at Highway 101 and La Costa. It is
(drumroll) the Alila Marea Beach Resort, a high end Hyatt hotel.

  18. Did Hymettus/Fulvia development flood?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yes. The existing flood east of the intersection has been worse than ever all winter. Runoff from the development has created a new flood in the intersection itself. The BMP (pit) at the NW corner is impermeable. It fills with even a small rain, overflows into the intersection, which then fills and overflows to the old flood. Standing water remains in the pit for days until it evaporates. Another fiasco by PASCO.

Residents warned of this very outcome during the project review, but were dismissed by the City as "non-experts".

  19. This lockdown has everyone stressed to the max and its totally unnecessary. The COVID numbers for San Diego have been consistently low, pre lock down and since.

Sweden has it right and did not harm their citizens by a self made Depression. Now we get to experience all the death and negative impacts to public health from the bad call and City of Encinintas City Council making the wrong call and closing everything including the coast. The State didn't even want to close the coast, until the City of Encinitas was pushing for it.

Now, COE gets to live with all the blood on their hands for this self imposed lock down and closing the coasts. I heard job loss is huge like over 40% of people lost their job or had an associated reduction in income. I heard alcohol sales were up 250% and other stress related stories. I sure hope we do not see a spike in suicides and felonies. All the deaths and hard time above the previous projections are all blood on the CEO for their poor leadership.

Be more like Sweden, keep the parking closed and open the beaches for starters.

The longer you wait, the more unnecessary blood on your hands.
