Your tax dollars at work

Sources tell Encinitas Undercover that the Proposition P bonds, which are debt that will be paid off by increased property taxes over 30 years, have been used to buy iPads for all 4th through 6th graders, as well as giant flat screen TVs for school offices. You know what the useful life of an iPad in the hands of a 9-year-old is? I'll give you a hint: it ain't the 30 years of debt we just signed on to pay for it.

All this while EUSD schools are increasing class sizes and still failing No Child Left Behind standards. How's that for district management?

In unrelated news of Encinitas financial shenanigans, the Ecke developers are seeking yet another bailout via subdivision after ripping off members of the Encinitas Ranch HOA by getting the city council to let them out of their obligations to the failing Encinitas Ranch Golf Course. And Pacific View is up for rezoning into condos again.

Time for change at City Hall?

  1. Just what we need in Encinitas schools--more distractions! Some things never change!

The Encinitas Union School District is always so busy blowing its own horn that they are starting to believe their own spin!

I had a conversation with an administrator and asked why my 5th grader was watching Disney movies during math class, yet my husband had to teach him math at home. They are always howling about a lack of money, yet there was a principal who used to schedule hair appointments during school hours. I think it is sickening that we are paying instructors $80 per hour to watch tv, and for principals to get haircuts on school time. They are the original Phil Cottons!

  2. This pro-development city council will make as much inroads to serving the special interests as possible before the next election. Ecke is taking the first step to redeveloping what's left of his main locational operations, as his business center is now Guatemala. As not to create too much opposition, Ecke will just take the initial rezoning of the property to higher and different use density and then sit on it for awhile. Come next election, Ecke will be shelling out $$ for for $tock$, and whomever runs that is selected to align with him.

Watch for the Pacific School rezoning vote go a different direction this time. $tock$ and Bond knew it was a no-go last vote, so they played coy. You can bet that they have back room parlayed schemes to move this property into the developers' hands. Gaspar will vote with her mentor - $tock$. This property is in the process of leaving the public use domain under this tyrannical, special-interest oriented city councils' lead.

  3. Any potential City Council candidate should be working the Encinitas Ranch area - that should be a gold mine for votes. Shifting the financial burdern of the golf course's losses onto the homeowners' association fees surely has awakened this group of residents to the Ecke oriented city council and who they (the Council) serve first. $tock$ and Bond have to go - then Gaspar.

  7. Shouldn't the rezoning of the Pacific View Elementary property be made by the voters? Hopefully, the City Council will allow the rezoning to go to the November ballot.

Surely Barth and Houlihan will not vote to rezone this property?

  8. No, Barth and Houlihan won't and yes. And yes, this should go to a vote of the public. IF they do not get a super majority, which is 4 to 1, this should go to the public for a vote. Be at the council meeting tomarrow. It is important. Your presence will make a diference.
