A 32-year-old man shot an acquaintance in the hip during an argument at an Encinitas home early Friday, authorities said.714 West Bluff is in the Sandalwood development (Baja Encinitas Ranch).
The shooting at 714 West Bluff Drive was reported at 12:34 a.m., according to San Diego County sheriff's Sgt. James Cady. David Kaufman is suspected of shooting 41-year-old Peter Byrne in his hip, he said in a statement.
Paramedics flew Byrne to Scripps La Jolla Hospital, Cady said. He was expected to survive.
Like this year's Olivenhain shooting and last year's near San Diguieto Academy, this appears to be a crazy neighbor situation, as Byrne is the West Bluff homeowner while Kaufman is listed as living just down the hill on Princehouse.
Discharging a firearm within city limits is a violation of municipal code.

ReplyDeleteI don't think that this compares to Olivenhain. I often hear the sounds like gun shots at night--I live in the back country. Maybe they are BB guns, but who knows. Most people own fire arms out here.

That guy david was there to take petes laptop and camera out of his car and after he jumped the fence and was inside the property he saw Pete in his car smoking and thought he was spotted so he made up a quick reason to be there and said he needed a lemon off the tree. He was there to rip off petes car and panicked and Pete went off on him protecting his parents house and got shot for it. I know david. This is what he told me when he bailed out the next day . He just got fired from his job at a heavy petting zoo for sexual harassment. And then his parents kicked him out of their house when they found him passed out wearing women's clothes.
