Too bad, he seemed like a thoughtful commissioner. Went to one hearing regarding a liquor license in Leucadia. He was the one commissioner that went to the site and had comments. The tool from olivenhain- Brandenfatass and the rag from Cardiff could not care less about building in Encinitas. Not sure why they hold these positions... they are usually no-shows...
On balance, the project as approved is much better than originally proposed. The downstairs food and alcohol "bistro" open to the public is gone. The upstairs bar is gone. The ability to serve their guests beer and wine with dinner seems reasonable for a lodge.
The upstairs bar is gone because it required a height variance of 8' in violation of Prop A - which the PC was only too happy to approve until residents spoke up.
Sounds like the usual insider spin. Always the same "voice." Give it up, 12:36.
12:36 PM On balance? ha ha! The 3 planning commissioners gave the property owners a 10X increase in property value by approving the liquor license. The "lodge" consists of 14 rooms with kitchens. The guests can bring in their own beer and wine. The liquor license runs with the land not with the owners. The property is much more valuable with a liquor license. The next owner can turn the property into a bar. Thank you Commissioners Drako, O'Grady, and running for city council Tasha Boerner Horvath for increasing the number of liquor licenses in Cardiff. No on Horvath for city council.
You hit the nail on the head, another Ivory Tower cultural marxist. Her only friends on her Facebook page are Lisa Shaffer, Tony Kranz and Teresa Barf...go figure...another invading Cultural Marxist progressive looking to force their socialist change in Encinitas citizens.
Could not resist reading down her letter. Of actually placing any restrictions on developers, she states:
"Slapping a number, like 25% affordability, on the housing plan update will require these sites be developed in a way that is incompatible with our community character."
So she actual thinks those prison block designs she supports ARE compatible with our community character.
I can't think of any place they would fit in. Or any place that already has similar styles would not be made worse.
She's very calculating and very aligned with Shaffer, Blakespear, Barth. Those women will cook up anything to justify a pro-developer vote. "Slapping a number?"
This egg head doesn't even own a home in Encinitas (no skin in the game). BTW lookup her dad...everyone is an 'artist' just begging for affection and for 'their work' to be seen..No reality in this family and it appears to be their family culture. No more adults with worthless degrees on the City Council! The less formally educated, the better in my opinion.
Thanks to Tasha, parking along W. Leucadia Blvd up to the beach will now be sent to council for consideration. This is such a bad idea. That narrow two lane curving road will lose big time if Tasha's idea survives council. If there ever is a stretch of a street that should never have parking, this is it. She claims she uses that road, as we all do, and thinks that parking along that short way is desirable?
Neither of the property owners want it. None of the local residents want it. The community realizes how inappropriate it would be and how it would destroy the character along that short, narrow, curving stretch.
The only explanation has to be her close relationship with the streetscape promoters. They want to make up for all the lack of parking in their faulty plan and squeeze any small amount of parking into a place where it does not belong.
The president of the streetscape plan is intending to run for council. How convenient for Tasha. May they both go down in flames, hand in hand when the votes are cast.
President of streetscape? Who's that? Not that Karris chick?
10:42's recounting is a perfect example of Tasha's inability or unwillingness to listen: residents don't want it, property owners don't want it, and it will destroy community character. Yet Tasha wants it and her own voice is the only thing she hears.
I'll vote for a Stocks clone before I vote for this developer's shill in sheep's clothing. At least you know what you're getting with the other and they make no apologies for who they are.
Unfortunately for Tasha our experience with Shaffer has taught us to look beyond the liberal "smarts" facade.
Don't forget that the educator, teacher, CFO, astronaut and world leader Gaspar says "Character counts"! Forget that she can't get her credentials straight. Hopefully Tuesday is the beginning of the end for her political career.
The Encinitas city council which declared itself to be a steward of all trees and Encinitas to be a tree city USA award recipient is apparently on board to cut down all the shade ficus trees of 2nd and 3rd streets. It's just the wrong tree, says a city staffer. No city comment on what tiny dwarf trees will replace the ficus. Article in the Encinitas Advocate.
Funny - these trees were ok for the 40 or more years that they've been there;, suddenly they are a threat to concrete. Remember the City wanted to tear out all the old, stately street trees on Crest and put in concrete, but the residents outcries sent them packing. Where are the advocates for these ficus trees?
Thanks for the reminder 3:33pm Yesterday at Orpheus Park the large shade tree in the middle of the park has been sabotaged to kill it. Another tree down that way o the left has been attacked too. Somebody and cut away the bark at the ground level and left crosscut saw across these gaping wounds higher up. Whoever is responsible knows well that this type of damage will end up killing the tree. Those trees are bleeding and need help.
Who is the President of the Streetscape that is running for Council? Inquiring minds want to know. Also rumor has it that Ruben Flores is running for Council. Does anyone have any more information about that?
3:56pm William Morrisson might be the one. He hasn't announced, so it is all just conjecture, as it is with some others for the time being.
A few weeks ago, I saw a new bumper sticker with Tony Brandenberg running for council but haven't heard a word about him either. I haven't heard a thing about Rueben Flores, but can't imagine he has any intention to run for council. His departure from the Planning Commission at this time is curious.
One doesn't have to quit to be running, like Tasha is doing. The more she talks, the less impressive she becomes in the publics mind. That is her gift to us all and should serve to send her back to the planning commission for this election year go around.
All potential candidates have until early August to declare their intentions so we will have to sit back and see who comes forward until then. Considering who we have now, it is as dismal an outlook as the June gloom is every day.
Don't be surprised if Flores runs. He loves the power and being on the inside, ever since his ERAC role. Sees himself as part of the intelligentsia. Probably stepped down from Planning Commission to allow more time to campaign.
If Flores runs, I will not vote for him! He may play a good game of asking questions, but at the end of the day, look at his votes! He votes no differently than the Barthist Cabal. He would be pro-development anti-resident.
Warning. Flores is another Ivory Tower Cultural Marxist and went door to door with Teresa Barth's clone Catherine Blakespear. They are all socialits who want to turn Encinitas into a combination of fascist Del Mar and socialist Oceanside.
Rueben has been seen to be a bit too chummy with Mikey at times around the chambers. He should know better than to get anywhere close to that piece of work, to put it mildly. That is a difficult stain for anyone to wash off of themselves.
Unless Mikey has been filling Reubens mind with illusions of grandeur and mass public support that Mikey has never had, there is no viability in a possible run for council by Mr Flores.
Commissioner Flores is gone. Curious minds want to know why.
ReplyDeleteHe couldn't handle Tasha's nonsense; since she's been appointed the amount of time spent on Commission business has more than doubled.
DeleteTasha mumbles and mumbles. Part of the time she doesn't speak into the mic while she is mumbles. Resign Tasha.

ReplyDeleteThe Cardiff Lodge project was approved with 4 variances. They also get a new liquor license that runs with the land.

ReplyDeleteDefinitely NO on Horvath. Spend time with her and you'll find that her lips flap nonstop and her ears are closed.
ReplyDeleteShe talks too much. She listens too little. That is her character and she won't change. She's a younger clone of Lisa and that we do not need.
