UPDATE: Sierra Madre remembers its wayward son.

  1. Although I don't like these types of pieces, it all does appear to be true.

  2. They predict the election for all intended purposes is over - ballots already mailed in, so this piece will have little effect.

    2. Yup. Good hit piece but way to late. KLCC is sooooo rusty in their brain functions. Dumb asses.

  4. Joe comes off nice enough I suppose, but when he switched allegiances and flipped the majority, thereby allowing L7 to be removed from consideration for the only 100% city owned property that could have been created without any market rate units, I, and I suspect many others, were done with him.

I hope he is tossed out on his keister next week. He deserves nothing less.

    Good damn riddance.

Brandeburg , two years ago, was the only candidate to not support Measure T. That alone was enough for this voter. He was the only one who got my vote.

Go Tony B. If I lived in your district, I would have voted for you.

Districts suck, but are a fact we all have to live with.

    ReplyDelete
  5. No we don't have to live with Districts. The City could put the issue to a vote like they should have done to begin. I would vote for no districts. Its ridiculous for a "City" of 60,000.

The flyer is classic but wrong. The streetscape will not cause congestion. Measure U will cause congestion. Its wrong but funny.

    1. How can cutting four lanes to two not cause traffic congestion?

      Delete
    2. 10:47- Because the intersections control the traffic volume not the number of lanes. Think about it, what causes the drivers to stop on the road? Its always for the red lights.

Read about under intersections in wikipedia - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Traffic

In the City of Encinitas case the cause of the backups is the Leucadia Blvd. Intersection. The streetscape currently has no significant changes this intersection so the congestion/capacity on the entire road segment will not change significantly.

If the City really wants to improve the capacity issues of that road it would look to improve the low performing Leucadia Blvd. intersection.

      Delete
    3. 7:17, you think about it: squeeze anything in half and it doubles in length, that intersection aside.

The absurdity of cutting the number of lanes in half and thinking you're not headed for a train wreck is beyond words. Lots of money in it for those who say otherwise though, eh?

      Delete
    4. Does the city control that intersection, or is this another Caltrans-controlled space. Cue the "Whoops, guess we can't do anything about it even though we the Encinitas City Council promise to mitigate" nonsense.

    5. 8:06,

Bird rock went from 5 lanes to two. Traffic studies before and after found no increase in congestion. In fact, there are more daily trips now than before the reduction, and times are about the same through the project zone. Can you explain that?

Above Swami’s the 101 shrinks to two lanes. It’s been that way forever. And yet that section of the 101 never causes a bottleneck. How do you explain that?

It seems as if you are oversimplifying how traffic flows work.

      Delete
    6. 9:09 Bird Rock is 1/2 a mile. Leucadia 101 is 2.4 miles. Apples and oranges.

South of Swami's where the highway goes to two lanes, there's nothing on either side of the road. Apples and oranges.

What happens whenever the traffic exceeds the capacity of a road? They widen the road! That's what the Interstate Highway System is all about.

Saying going from four lanes to two will not increase traffic congestion is nonsense.

Without cutting the number of cars, trucks and buses in half, the backups will be twice as long as now.

      Delete
    7. Explain how the 1/2 mile vs. 2.4 miles makes a difference. Show your work.

If reducing to 2 lanes for a half mile doesn’t affect traffic congestion, but doing the same for 2.4 miles does, then there must be some specific distance between those two figures where the congestion kicks in. What is that specific distance? Can you offer a mathematical explanation or proof to show why only lane diets over a certain distance result in congestion?

      Delete
    8. And Bird Rock is not an alternate route to the I-5.

10:12, perhaps you follow Tony's "logic" that while he acknowledges there will be an increase in backup it will be mitigated by folks "learning to take the 5 instead."

No math there, just idiocy. Is "learning to take the 5" your logic, too?

      Delete
    9. 10:33 makes the point that 10:12 misses.

At commute times, summer weekends and any other time I-5 backs up, drivers divert to 101. They back up two lanes wide from the Leucadia Blvd light. With one lane, those backups will be twice as long. That's double the congestion.

That doesn't happen at Bird Rock cause I-5 is nowhere nearby.

If 10:12 doesn't see the common sense in that, there's no help for him/her.

10:12, do you actually live in Encinitas? Can you distinguish between abstract and reality?

      Delete
    10. Oh. So now the story changes.

9:45: ‘Bird rock is different because of the distance.’

Me: ‘Oh really? Explain how the distance matters.’

      10:33: ‘Nevermind that. It’s about I-5.’

      Pfffffft.

A solid explanation doesn’t need to change.

  7. Mosca is an opportunistic plant. Obviously someone saw him as their willing shill and did some insider trading to get him"appointed". No locals were considered; an outsider who fled a previous city council post under extreme controversy. Now he is dutifully doing what he is told by the big money developers. If you have yet to vote, vote Brandenburg.

    1. He was appointed to be Blakespear's tool. The times he's gone off script until L7 have been basically nil.

It must've taken a lot of "persuading" to get him to break from Blakespear and vote to remove L7. Guess he has new handlers now.

      Delete
    2. Whether he's a carpetbagger or not is irrelevant now. He has a voting record and positions on issues so make sure you vote on that!

      Delete
    3. His voting record here sucks. He acts like he's asking tough questions of staff, then nods his head like he understands their nonsensical responses, then he votes per staff's direction.

So make sure you vote on that!

  11. Getting lots of popup ads on my Facebook page from the Blakespear/Hubbard/Mosca triumvirate:

    "KEEP ENCINITAS MOVING FORWARD"

They forgot the rest of the line: "RESIDENTS BE DAMNED." They boast that we now have the "strongest City Council in many, many years." Strong does not equal wise, respectful, or transparent.

  13. Blakespear, Mosca, and Horbarf are all 'social justice sociopaths' groomed under the Cultural Marxist Ivory Towers. There are at least seven characteristics that define a sociopath, although I’m sure the list could be extended:

Sociopaths completely lack a conscience or any capacity for real regret about hurting people. Although they pretend the opposite (people haven't forgotten about Mosca and his passive aggressive husband's hate-filled hit piece on Santa Fe Christian School created and published by the Coast News).

Sociopaths put their own desires and wants on a totally different level from those of other people. Their wants are incommensurate. They truly believe their ends justify their means. Although they pretend the opposite.

Sociopaths consider themselves superior to everyone else, because they aren’t burdened by the emotions and ethics others have – they’re above all that. They’re arrogant. Although they pretend the opposite. Even more so with a "mommy-dearest" paid for law degree...oh yeah and a worthless $250,000 Master's in Journalism degree on top of that.

Sociopaths never accept the slightest responsibility for anything that goes wrong, even though they’re responsible for almost everything that goes wrong. You’ll never hear a sincere apology from them.

Sociopaths have a lopsided notion of property rights. What’s theirs is theirs, and what’s yours is theirs too. They therefore defend currency inflation and taxation as good things.

Sociopaths usually pick the wrong target to attack. If they lose their wallet, they kick the dog. If 16 Saudis fly planes into buildings, they attack Afghanistan.

Sociopaths traffic in disturbing news, they love to pass on destructive rumors, and they’ll falsify information to damage others.

  16. Who is the psychotic woman (no doubt a single woman with numerous cats) with a deep obsession with a Mr. Roger Odgen? Always policing this blog, perhaps like her NKVD Bolshevik brethren, and constantly trying to destroy free speech? This lunatic of a woman needs to be investigated and put on a watch list. Can the blog owner ping her IP address and forward this information to the Sheriff? It sounds like she wants to do physical harm to whomever the fellow is that she obsesses over.

  17. Wrong gender Roger, and wrong on so many other things that you have chosen to post her on our blog.

That you post your hate here from a San Diego neighborhood begs the question why. I suppose that is because of Leichtag.

You are one sick excuse for a human being.

Go away and stay away from our community.
