Pedestrian killed in Olivenhain

Patch:
David Goodblatt of Encinitas was crossing Rancho Santa Fe Road near the intersection of Lone Jack Road around 6:45 a.m. on Sept. 23 when he was struck by a Toyota Tundra pickup driven by a 28-year-old man, according to information from the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office and the county Sheriff's Department.

  1. For a city of its size, there sure are a lot of pedestrian fatalities in Encinitas.

  2. One of the news reports said that the driver's speed was 10 mph.

  3. Just couple of days ago, I was thinking the exact same thing as 6:42 am. More pedestrian fatalities than I would expect. Roads and also train tracks.

  4. Was this the fellow that looked like Larry David? White hair glasses?

  5. I am not sure who he was. May he rest in peace--along with all of the other souls we have lost recently.

I am not sure if the goals to get everyone walking and biking in Encinitas are working out the way that leaders have envisioned.

    1. The city council are too busy acting like the developers' enforcement team - intimidating and threatening the citizens who use their democratically "guaranteed" right to organize a ballot driven voter initiative. Rename the city "EnciHongKongitas"

  6. the roads in Encinitas are so bad and sketchy for Peds and bikes. The city leaders don't give a shit and the tax payers pay the settlements for these known hazardous conditions.

Blakespear even promotes unsafe roads. Look at their recent action against a huge majority protest from the ped and bike Encinitas advocacy group.

It shows Blakespear and the City Staff have no idea what they are doing and people will continue to die as a result and the City will continue to lose millions in payouts for all the pending law-suites.

RIP to yet another person taken too soon.

    1. It's not sketchy roads at fault, it's morons unfit to survive outside their sheltered bubble. Riding or walking around in the bay area is WAY fucking more hazardous than any street in this speed bump-covered, pedestrian paradise. But the dipshits here can't comprehend that they aren't the center of the universe, and when a car is coming, you get the fuck out of the way.

  7. What the actual fuck happened to Pam Slater Price?

From respected, serious leader to shouty Facebook troll.

    Sad.

    1. Pam is OK, but I'm worried about Lorri. She hovers over EV like a scolding grandma, then she whines about EV taking too much time to moderate.

Maybe if she would just leave it alone as EU does, the members would drive out the bad apples.

The only posts EU takes down are those so egregious that they offend everybody but the disturbed person who posts them.

    2. EV is fine. Unfortunately, there is a quiet takeover on it of out of towners who don't give squat about Encinitas and act like the wolf in little red riding hood.
Then there is potty mouth attorney Marco Gonzalez. If he is using that language in court, he should be disbarred.

    3. Confining a forum to what suits the moderator contradicts the meaning and purpose of a forum. It defines censorship.

If people post garbage, other people will chastise them and chase them away.

No forum needs a scolding grandma hovering over every post and applying her personal standards of civility and political correctness.

Facebook can't be called a forum. The moderator is usually the one that has started the group. There are many groups on Encinitas that are both public and private and dedicated to certain view points. People join because they have the same viewpoints.
As has been said, if you don't like it, start your own viewpoint group and let anarchy rein with it.

Of course it's a forum! It's just not an open forum. It's restricted to what fits into the moderator's narrow mind and point of view.

Apparently, yours too cause you're OK with it.

We already have what you would call an anarchy group. You monitor it and post on it.

What's the purpose of having a dialog with people who have the same point of view as you? That's not a dialog. It's an echo chamber.

  8. Dear children with Turrets. Can you make an attempt to write without using bad language? If you think by writing like this you make a bigger impact with your drivel then think again, you don't.
Wake up, wise up and stop being the fool.

    1. Much of what she posts makes no sense. If she loves everybody in her Facebook group, why does she chastise them and why has she blocked so many others?

She needs strong doses of knowledge and rationality. She sounds jealous of EU. She sounds like a space case.

    2. 3:48 and 5:07 - you're the same person returning to complain about EV. You do this instead of simply looking away.

Why is EV a problem for you?

    3. Public irrationality.

3:48 and 5:07 are not the same person.

Are you actually paying attention, 5:23?

    4. Lives her life to complain about how hard moderating a facebook group.
Won't learn that shit doesn't need moderating.

  13. This is the wicked witch grandmother, Lorri Greene. So happy we got your attention. I have never blocked anyone, so I'll put that one to rest. Of course that doesn't mean anything to some people on this blog. However, I do insist on people putting their names on things. If anyone wants to actually join EV and post something that is both accurate and not fake news, I will be happy to post it. Phil Graham just posted something today, and I didn't block him. As you all now, the City is suing some citizens. They are saying Jane or John Doe in the actual document sent to the Court. But it is really about anyone who supported Prop A. Ironically the first meeting pro Prop A was at Tony Kranz's home, but I think he has forgotten that. The larger issue isn't some small little FB page called Encinitas Votes, nor is it really with me. If you don't like being sued by our City, that is the larger issue. And even if you were not for Prop. A, if this goes through, maybe they will sue you, and people who support whatever cause the City doesn't like. That is not a democracy, IMHO. Now you can really go after me, although I still think it suck that all of you took away from this mans death. I was going to leave it alone, but I decided since so many of you are very non-empathic people, and I have been included in that, what the hell.

    1. Well, there's the proof of 5:07's points.

6:52 doesn't understand the city's kill-Prop A lawsuit. Marco does. Read his explanation and other posts about the suit.

    2. Haha marco's explanation suits marco's clients and their plans for Encinitas.

Never did the warning 'consider the source' apply more than they do to marco and his many explanations.

    3. 9:50 Spoken as a person who hasn't read the city's suit and Marco's explanation of it. Ignorance does not pay.

    4. I have read it and know the city's arguments ad nauseum. they're not new, they're just a recitation of what the city has been saying since Measure U failed.

marco cites interpretation and not legal code. Is it his interpretation with which you agree?

      Delete
    5. Actually, all of Marco’s predictions about how this would play out legally have turned out to be spot on.

Looking at track record, I think Marco turns out to be a reliable gauge of where things are headed.

I get that some people don’t like that, but I’m more interested in the reality of what will happen than what some people want to happen.
