Big developments’ inadequate parking impact on adjacent neighborhoods

  1. Right? I also have problems finding parking on the 101 during the Street Fair. Idiots.

  2. So we're worried about parking by the golf course where there are no homes?

  3. You folks ain't seen nothin' yet. Encinitas is being ruined with apartments. It's over...............

  4. Blame the neighbors who fought Bob Echter’s only viable option to keep the greenhouse running.

    Never forget.

Bob didn’t want to sell. He wanted to keep growing. He had a plan.

The neighbors thought this was a better option.

    1. The hemp/ weed would not have worked in that area. The weed smell alone would have shut Bob down.

      Delete
    2. Its not "would have". The hemp was growing, the neighbors were whining, so the property was sold and Fox Point is now there.

At least the neighbors have something new to whine about.

The pattern of neighbors whining, attempting to stop a slightly annoying situation or small development and ending up with something much much worse has been repeated in Olivenhain and the former Sunshine Gardens property. Probably others as well.

    3. Whatever you say, Grover

  5. So all the other greenhouse owners who sold their properties, did they have that same plan?

    1. This post is about Fox Point.

    2. And Grover, who went on record with the City calling adjacent neighbors “crazy.“. Such a cool guy!

      Delete
    3. Right, do you really think someone isn't going to take the money for that property when offered, weed smell or no? 9 out of 10 people take the money. Quit blaming the neighbors...

    4. 11:29, you’re talking about what hypothetically could happen.

We’re talking about what actually happened.

      The neighbors fucked up.

  6. Who needs parking when everyone takes rapid transit🤣

  7. Notice foxpoint farms calls the poster who is simply pointing he did not provide enough parking, “haters.” Typical elementary school response you get from his crowd.

    1. If I were the developer I wouldn't bother responding to the dingalings at Save Encinitas Now. It's the same people that have been attempting to make this an issue for a couple of years. No one gives a shit about some street parking a few neighbors don't like.

If the city gave a shit and could do something about it, they would. They don't, perhaps because they have family that live there, perhaps because this is a dumb "issue", perhaps because their hands are tied. The councilmen have their hands tied in pretty much any situation where development is involved.

    2. Some of these people or you people and others exposed the propaganda being spit out by top supporters of development. The Dem party is fully aware that the equity/low income messaging failed.

      Delete
    3. Failed in what sense? It seems pretty successful here, the city councilmen approved the largest development in Encinitas history, for example.

      Delete
    4. Equity/ low income messaging backfired and BIA spears lost her team. We need to applaud the brave residents who identified the bullshit. No SEN and our residents are not the problem. The voters sent a message..., "get Blakespears people" out of office.

      Delete
    5. The Ehlers/Jim/Luke team ran successful campaigns attacking their opponents relentlessly and leading voters to unrealistically believe the men could and would do something about development in Encinitas.

Legally, these men never could have done anything, as we have seen with the approval of 5-6 developments in the last 1-2 years, including the largest ever, all with low income units included. They were all aware of this, but fear of development and change is a great way to motivate voters.

Their handlers definitely knew, Ehlers knew, and they chose to mislead voters while simultaneously running extremely dirty campaigns. So now we have 4 aholes in office who can accomplish zero of the things voters expected from them.

    6. This is more about a story of a once quiet beach town being taken over by corporations. Of course people will push back .... as they should. The people had big sac, developers, a power hungry politician, lawyers, and activist after them. I applaud 👏 the brave people who refused to lay down. 👏

      Delete
    7. But they did lay down, they didn't have a choice. They have stopped no developments at all, and have approved many.

Their only other option was to deny and deal with a builders remedy situation, so they laid down every single time.

This was always what was going to happen, they just lied to voters to win an election.

So great, Luke Jim and Ehlers make angry faces at council meetings, but they are completely ineffective in any way that matters. But they got elected, great trick!

      Delete
    8. Builders remedy is highly effective at making city councils fold and quit.

Luke, Jim, Marco, and Bruce roll over like basic bottoms and take it.

The Germans have a word for weak men like this.

      Sitzpinkler

      Google the literal translation.

    9. Your responce comes across as someone who has a personal dislike of these men vs a policy debate. 🙄 Kind of boring 😴

      Delete
    10. Just telling the truth.

      They quit and rolled over.

They promised to fight, and now all of their supporters are backpedaling into the “hands are tied” trope. Now that sounds familiar.

I guess they were just opportunistic blowhards with no juice.

    11. Most of the comments on this blog boil down to personal dislike or outright hatred, where ya been...

    12. As candidates, the current councilmen knew they weren't going to be able to do anything about these developments. But they ran their campaigns on stopping development, keeping Encinitas a small surf town. Supposedly.

Well, Bruce, Jim and Luke did. Appointee Marco didn't know what a builder's remedy was until he was sitting in a council meeting about it.

They are fundamentally dishonest, plus a little stupidity and laziness mixed in.

      Delete
    13. So where does this leave us, now everybody should know you're not really stopping development in this town. What will the new axis of dissagreement be?

  9. 1253 spin is predictable .... People need to stop expecting that local folks can solve all problems. Sacramento, tech and now Feds ( bipartisan) are after the little guy. That little guy is the soul of small Cities. Did Blakespear just gut a bill to add an admendment to control local government ( bike paths) ? People will need to decide do they want organic down home locals or do they want Blakespear 2.0 in office 🏬

    1. Ehlers IS Blakespear 2.0!

He's wrapped in a different package, but so far he's ended up exactly where she was.

No one gives a shit about her bill, and it affects nothing currently in Encinitas.

Ehlers is full of it, no matter how grandpa he presents as.

      Delete
    2. “ Nothing currently,” as sneaky as her middle name wait for her to make her bill retroactive at the last moment. Easy to predict.

      Delete
    3. She is so sneaky! Can't trust that Blakespear. Only Bruce, Luke, Jim and Marco are allowed to be dishonest about development.

I'm glad Bruce, a Carlsbad resident and a few political donors traveled to Sacramento to show her who's boss and gain some reelection points.

  12. If you want to get rid of the dummies on council you need to get rid of the handler. Everything she touches turns to crap including the FOUR stooges she got elected. Encinitas needs a vaccine to stop the spread-- and no, not talking about Natalie "don't love your neighbors." This disease originated at a wet lab in Carlsbad.
