2013 Cardiff Kook calendars now available

These make great Christmas gifts to fellow Encinitans and out-of-area friends and family alike.  And they benefit three good causes.

You can get your calendars at thecardiffkook.org, or at the Cardiff 101 Main Street Association office at 124 Aberdeen.

We LOVE our local guerrilla artists, the calendars that chronicle them, and the charities that benefit!

  1. *Wrong* - some of you love the local untalented douchebag artists. The rest of us don't, and also regret the encouragement.

  2. "Right"!- Most of us like the art, but don't like the Douchebag's like Rob and Lynn Marr!

  4. "local artist" = bad artist. Otherwise they wouldn't just be local. Jesus, such a simple fucking concept. Idiots.

You do understand that this is completely devoid of logic, don't you?

  6. I have a great idea, let's produce a calender of Encinitas train crashes. Again someone dies because the
COE is too stupid to insist that the tracks be lowered. Yes, yes, I know we don't have the money. Not that is would matter anyway, someone in this town was oppose the idea. Why?? Because train crashes are funky. Train crashes are part of the character of our community......

    1. Wait a minute...Don Hansen is selling the Kook calender?? It's not enough that he owns the entire south end of town and opposes any construction not his own...and he hates the Kook.. oh well, anything to make a buck.

Keep up the good work Fred.

  8. Don Hansen was on the Cardiff Chamber design committee that designed the "Magic Carpet Ride".

  9. Support local artists by...trashing local art?

Actually,if that's really how you feel (and not a ridiculously ironic argument that you're incapable of recognizing), maybe we agree!

  10. Wow! So much hate for making lemonaid out of a lemon.

Rob, why so much hate for some silly fun to correct a flaw on a bad choice of artistic perception of how a surfer holds his hands?

Thanks Fred, the whole family gets one and they all look forward to having one of these calendars as they do not live here and get to see all cool and sometimes very elaborate art that the real locals take the time to do.

  11. By the way Rob. The so called local artist who created the magic carpet ride... LIVES IN HEMET!

  12. Have another Bud Light, genius.

The artist lives 70 miles away, so ... what? It's ok to trash artists that live > 50 miles away, but you adamantly support "locals" for no reason beyond geography? You obviously don't care about art, so this is making sense to me -- it's just sports-fan mentality BS. Again, crack open another Bud Light, hilljack! Yee-ha!

    1. So Rob, or as Laura Petry used to say on the Dick Van Dyke show when Rob was wrong..."Ohhh Rob!"

Who made you the Encinitas Art Zhar?

Who are you to say what I care about?

Bud light? Really Rob? That the best retort you can give?

      I drink ale sir.

  13. Someone should do to the Kook what was done to Saddam's statue.

  14. The "Magic Carpet Ride" is a noteworthy gift to our community. Thank you Matthew, Cardiff Botanical Society and the city for installing it. It has been appreciated by our community, visitors, and created a kind of support group for the homophobic surfer crowd.
    And thanks, again to Fred.
