New blog comes to Encinitas

The web site weloveencinitas.com, connected to Paul Gaspar's "We Love Encinitas" charity, has changed over to a blog format.

As Gaspar told the North Coast Current, “... one does not have to be secret about disseminating good news – unlike the multiple anonymous negative groups and blogs that have infected Encinitas.”

We have no idea who the negative groups and blogs are that have infected Encinitas (if you do know, please send us a tip), but the new blog holds true to Gaspar's vision of All Happy Talk, All the Time. The first three posts include the amazing citizen satisfaction survey, "Encinitas citizens love a parade," and happy progress on the Hall Park.

Authorship on the blog posts is anonymous, and comments are not allowed.

Ironically, the positive tone of the blog stands in marked contrast to the writings of We Love Encinitas' beloved Jerome Stocks, who is entering retirement with a poison pen. On county Republican blog SDRostra, Stocks attacks his successor, Tony Kranz, for "seeming" to want a ridiculous $56,000 expenditure (how does one "seem" to want a $56,000 expenditure?  Did Kranz request it or not?).

We struggle to recall an example of a politician being less gracious in defeat.  And politicians are not a gracious lot.

  1. $tock$ legacy will be something to be forgotten - cronyism, special-interst pandering, insider deals, arrogance, conceit - etc... If he thinks he can remain active by pulling the Gaspar puppet strings, then it is high time to purge Gaspar - a worthless addition to the council.

  2. The SD Rostra Stocks post is very telling.
    What a dick.
It is very apparent, with multiple public sitings of Gaspar/Stocks/ Muir/andreem meetings, that Stocks is still the puppet master of Gaspar at least.
I am against any personal attacks on Gaspar, but in favor of dumping the Stocks puppet.

  3. At least the Gaspars are willing to put their name behind their blog; what say you "Our Mayor Stocks" and "Encinitas Undercover" and the rest?

    1. Pseudonymous speech has a long and proud tradition in America dating back at least to the Federalist Papers.

I'll leave it to the public to decide whether they prefer a thoughtful, independent, pseudonymous voice, or vapid happy talk from King George.

    2. Plus we allow comments.

Not allowing discussion seems an easy out to stifle criticism of one's views.

    4. Gus Vina doesn't let people comment on his propaganda blog.

    5. Gus Vina is constantly out with his pom poms cheering on the horrible City staff and talking about how proud he is of them. The only thing that I have noticed is that he has incredibly low personal and professional standards, and that he isn't listening to the voters.

New City Council, we need some improvements at City Hall!

    6. Spot on... I haven't seen any value of this stooge who came from stoogeville Sacramento... they are broke and wouldn't make him City Manager of their town. Why would we want a loser and someone who has no idea about the fundamentals of our town. Dump $200k Gus plus he will leave anyway in 4 years because he is fat PERS. Pure waste of money to pay Gus anything.

I support Firing Guss, unless Teresa steps up and support this guy. In my opinion, we should dump a stooge to Jerome Stocks. Dump all the trash from Stocks era. It happens all the time and is natural. Not to do so is stupid and a bad call. You will have old regime in place resisting new vision.

Put it this way, for a year Guss was hand in fist with Jerome. He played Jeromes cards every day while shitting on the Encinitas public. Even when code enforcement was involved regarding political signs. Guss was doing what he could to assure a Jerome Stocks Victory. WELL...... Sorry Guss.. .your pony lost and so your alliance makes you the enemy.

Sorry Guss you have to go.

    7. I agree. Bad seeds that got to Manager positions that need to go include:

      1. John Franken: That guy doesn't have a brain. He is the one that cut down the wrong tree at Leucadia road side park and then recommended and got the contract awarded again to the same company that obeI'veyed his fucked up order. This guy is the most unfriendly tree person and unresponsive to citizens questions, ever seen. I've also seen his fuckup in Cardiff. This guy is just an not a worthy employee. First on the dead wood list is John Franken for sure. If in doubt, someone post something to explain anything good that Mr. Franken has done. He needs to go He doesn't care anyway, because he started as a maintenance worker and learned how to be a tree hacker and then got his arborist cert. ( wooooo!). The dumb ass old City Managers kept him in this position, yet he has has caused more harm to our towns canopy, then good.

      Can him.

      Next:

      Greg Shields:

Summary: Completely worthless and a City Liability.

For at least the last 10 years has been Jerome Stocks linch man. Look at what he did to those poor people who did all those nice improvements at Beacons. Mr. Shield made the call to remove those nice improvements. What a Dick.

It doesn't matter anyway because he is on hits way out. Retirement full Pay --- yes over $100,000 per year forever for a jack ass who was Jerome's lapdog.

      3. Gus.

Hired by Jerome and time to be fired by NOT Jerome. Teresa is the best one to judge how Gus has acted as an neutral City Manger. However, what I saw about selective sign enforcement and Guss's own statements I think the fresh council should start with a fresh pony instead of some old school union shill who just wants to limp along until he reaches his retirement age in 3 years and then he, like so many others, will retire with full pay and like on the fat of the tax payers forever.

    8. You are forgetting Patrick Murphy! He managed to do more than any single person in Encinitas for the recruitment efforts of the Encinitas Right to Vote Initiative since many of us were swept up in this effort on account of the dot exercises and before that, his role in the Hall Property (the so called Encinitas Community Park).

His list of misdeeds and lies would take an entire series of posts. What he has done to individual homeowners in Leucadia in support of the building industry is the stuff of legends. He is so dishonest, and such a pathological liar, that even other staff members feel polluted by him.

One thing I do give credit to Gus for is that Patrick used to attend every Council meeting, and Gus must have told him that his being in meetings is a lightning rod since they seem to hide him in a back room now and only summons him so that he now only occassionally creeps out like some little cockroach, when they talk about Planning issues. Then it is back to his hole for him! He is also not the giggling and skipping Patrick of times past, but he looks very serious and unhappy at the moment.

I would also add that we don't miss seeing him at meetings! The word is that he is retiring very soon. How do we find out how much on the hook we will be for HIS retirement?

  5. We super love comments.

  6. The Gaspars don't allow comments, not does Mike Andreen. They won't risk it. Look what happened to Jerome on SD Rostra. He got skewered.

We love comments. We love ethical behavior. We love council members who serve the interests of the community.

  7. This is great for Encinitas, I think we all will see in the next few months that Kristin Gaspar is a leader, and is good for Encinitas. Now that we have the new couunccil, I think it will all work out. Now that the pressure is gone, or at least the king of pressure is gone, I think we will see a change. I my self, know Kristin Gaspar is and can be a good leader. She is very smart, she is willing to listen to us. So lets give the new council time and a chance to grow. But lets grow with them. Lets help them, we love Encinitas too, so lets give them our suggestions. Lets all work as a team, Good luck to the new council. Also lets use this site to work together instead of like how Jeromes site SD Rostra does, he only puts up comments that he likes. This sites owner Paul is an honest person, so lets give him a try. Good luck

  8. Since we you Mentioned the crappy old Jerome Stocks that was poison to Encinitas. Lets check out Tim Baird and the EUSD, they are poison to Encinitas as well- Tim is the highest paid School superintendent per capita in the county and per his suggestion the board just gave him a big fat life insurance policy that he can cash in whenever he wants at their last board meeting.....

He is a sneaky pig who knew if he put the item after the crazy yoga item with hordes of people speaking, no one would stick around through that insanity to speak on yet another raise...... more from a Pension Pig who is milking our kids educations dollars for selfish interests. The whole school board with the exception of Mo Muir needs to be recalled or shot. They clearly hate our children. LOSERS!!!

    http://encinitasundercover.blogspot.com/2012/10/eusd-superintendent-tim-baird-admits.html

This guy has to go and the Board has to go with the exception of Mo.

Check it out for yourselfs... they keep asking all the parents for contributions and then they give whopping amounts of cash to worthless Tim Baird.

    2. Oh.... You got me. You must be smart.

    3. Oh settle down..I happen to think Mr. Baird is quite the puppet master, too, and I also think the EUSD's handling of the Pacific View property is lousy. It was a gift to the children of Encinitas from the Pritcher family, and they aren't honoring that gift, so that's another minus for Mr. Baird, IMHO. It's just if you use different names it kind of dilutes your point. Friends?

    4. This Anon reply (12/10, 3:14 PM) reeks of Jerome Stocks, who used disguised names whenever he could get away with it. A classic case of the pot calling the kettle black.

You're a cunning one, Stocks. Too clever by half, methinks. Friends?

  9. Joe Corder thinks the Steppford wife will transform herself now that her puppet master has been deposed. 'A tiger doesn't change its spots' is an old cliche that comes to mind. She has shown what she is - a vapid, shallow, excitable crony to the special interests contingent - she and her husband need to be extracted from Encinitas politics. To think it will all become happy is naive. The stench of $tock$ still lingers in the City Hall . .

  10. Well I think your wrong, and time will tell. But if time proves me wrong, you can return to this site for my apology. But I have enough trust in her to use my name. I think the new council wil get along and do great

  12. Logan Jenkins thinks that Gaspar will be the next Mayor, allowing Barth a shot at it in 2014 when she will have that title to run on in her reelection bid. 2013 will be the year of the Air Head - the Macy's Parade of the Steppford Wife!
