The trends say Gaspar and Blakespeare win. Conservatives and new Encinitas people vote more in these off year election. The only consolation is we will basically have the council we have now, with the addition of Blakespeare.

Most of them will take their retirements out of state. We are approaching 100,000 retirees with. $100,000 per year in benefits. It's not possible to stay this course....
Just 7 retired employees of Encinitas pull $1,000.000 in retirement benefits a year. That number is now probably in the dozens or more. No one addresses the pension crisis - as noted, it is unsustainable. Will Gaspar do anything about it - not on your life! This pork lbarrel rolls on and on - top city government workers are a parasite on the citizens.
The CA pension system is going down the wrong track. The state will now have to borrow money from a water reserve account to help fund the pension problem. I wonder if it will ever get paid back -- probably not.
Some one needs to be paying more attention to this instead of letting it get out of hand.
