In anticipation of El Niño, Encinitas will stop providing free sandbags

Patch:
Sandbags will no longer be offered daily at the Public Works facility but may be bought locally from vendors.
There will be two final chances to get a limited number of free sandbags:
Encinitas will host two sandbag give-a-way events in January and March, officials said this week.

The events will be held Jan. 15 and March 11, from 8:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. at the Public Works facility at 160 Calle Magdalena. There will be 1,500 sandbags per event for Encinitas residents on a first come, first served basis.

  1. Do these bags come filled with sand, or is it BYOS?

    1. Those bags come with hot air from all five Council members who put on their "we care" faces for hopeful residents who beg regularly for the city to maintain basic infrastructure needs.

Not only did our Councils trade safe, dry streets for their trophy projects, they're now shifting the cost of their obligation to protect onto residents. This while claiming our finances are in fine shape (you listening, Catherine??).

  2. New Years resolution: stop being whiny and needy. Get off your ass, go to Home Depot, and buy your own damned sand bags. They are cheap.
