  2. Although there is this again-excellent piece by the EG that may explain the cancelation.

Floral Allergy Forces Encinitas Mayor’s Resignation

Encinitas Mayor Catherine Blakespear has announced that her allergic reaction to flowers will force her to resign. Despite Encinitas no longer being the flower capital of the world, Blakespear suffers from post-floral stress disorder (PFSD). Doctors have diagnosed her allergy as having been simmering invisibly for decades, only to raise its debilitating head in the past few years.

PFSD is known to cause fits of temper and sustained periods of irrationality. Among its effects is the inability to listen to points of view other than one’s own. PFSD patients are known to surround themselves with sycophants and like-thinkers. Patients brook no opposition and tend to become increasingly dictatorial.

To protect her family, friends and the community from the devastating effects of PFSD, Blakespear has decided to resign as mayor and to withdraw from public life. A wave of sympathy and gratitude is rolling through the city.

    1. Encinitas Guerrilla is embarrassing bad. No wonder the author stays anonymous.

    2. What's embarrassing is admitting you still support Blakespear. She's alienated every corner of this town with both her actions and attitude.

    3. For someone who has "alienated every corner of this town with both her actions and attitude," she sure did well at the polls back in November capturing 85% of the votes. Just saying. Have you ever considered that you might be part of a very small minority group, and not everyone feels the same way?

      Delete
  3. Donald Trump also suffers from an advanced case of PFSD. He has the courage to continue serving in office in spite of the worsening symptoms. Such bravery, it is a pity that the bone spurs prevented him from military service.

    1. Ahhh....you are one of those. A dim witted President hating buffoon that thinks being in the military makes everyone perfect. Well, it doesn't. And if you knew anything you would know that less than One Percent of Americans join the military. Yet you write nothing about the other 99 percent. You Leftist loser.

    3. EG is a genius. Clearly he/she is a close observer of Encinitas City Hall. Methinks EG is hitting way too close to the nerve for 2:30's comfort.

  4. Interestingly, someone at the last council meeting compared CB to DT. Her dictatorial behavior and angry outbursts directed at the messengers (citizens) invited the speaker's apt observation.

And like DT, CB works hard to demean and discredit anyone who disagrees with her.

  5. To the brave young lady speaking oposition to the boutique hotel on the norther border of Leucadia. -

No sense talking to our Mayor, she is the DEVELOPERS WHORE who does all their dirty work for donations. They speak and she gladly directs staff to pave over paradise.

No need speaking to the DW. Just join us and getting a Mayor who will perserve and protect our Mother Earth. Vote for anyone but the DW.

    1. Misogyny at it's best......

      Delete
    2. Believe nowadays the word "whore" could apply to a male and anyway, you're focusing on the wrong thing here, 1:35. Do you really believe Blakespear's strings are not pulled by the development community and their attorney of choice?

Review Blakespear's voting record and her aggressiveness toward residents who don't join her in embracing housing element upzoning. Her backing of city staff who recommend development approvals, no matter how bad the project, are further evidence of where her loyalties lie.

If you can't prove otherwise, 10:11's moniker fits and trying to make the use of the word into a gender issue is a big, fat, red herring.

      Misogyny at its best..

OK, I'll go with the latter - I stand corrected..

But the sentiment still stands - "brave young lady" paired with Developer Whore clearly trends toward misogyny. Brave young lady reeks of patronage and condescension. Why not "articulate woman"?

2:04 - other than the first and last sentence in your post what you say is articulate, erudite and reasonable and should stand on its (notice no apostrophe) own so why is invective needed? It only cheapens the comment and makes the author appear a fool at best or at worst has a personal ax to grind. It's just bad form........

Gawd I miss the days of Buckley....

      Delete
    2. Buckley was excellent, but I preferred Gore.

Anyhoo, I did look up "male equivalent of 'whore'" and saw on several urban dictionary sites that "whore" may now apply to men.

I personally don't like to resort to invective, but hey, that's how 10:11 expresses him or herself. I choose to focus on the sad, unacceptable point that we have a developer sellout (not an invective) for mayor.

      Delete
    3. Yes, 3:25, if the mayor were going to bat for the people who elected her, she could engage the city attorney, Margo Gonzalez, to fend off the developers' attorneys.

      Delete
    4. Margo is not only Blakespear's bff, Margo is the developers' attorney. But hey, it wouldn't be the first time someone double dipped at city hall.

  9. I think that Blakespear is a victim of her own hubis. She has said that she wanted to get a compliant Housing Element for years, yet she was willing to throw her supporters, and in fact, more less all small homeowners under the bus so that she could claim to have solved this problem. It is HOW she did it that has alienated those in the know.

Instead of bringing forth a plan that residents could pass that contained actual affordable housing solutions, she conducted secret meetings and let developers direct the plan to benefit themselves, and by association Blakespear's, family when they develop.

Her political ambitions will be halted since residents will always see her as the person who sold Encinitas out to developers--regardless of what she tells other people.

She also claimed that, "I will support Prop A because it is the law." However, she ran to a judge and asked him to invalidate Prop A and has gone one step further to try to invalidate it for all times.

The city is run on the wrong set of values when people in charge are rewarded for being inept failures.

She can avoid the public by canceling meetings, but if she decides to continue living here, we will never forget.

    1. Exactly! Well said!

Just like we all know about Jerome Stocks selling out the tax payers in 2005 with the 35% increase in all City Employees pension in one nights vote with Jim Bond voting against the measure, the tax payers and voters will always remember Blakespear for selling out encinitas for Developer profits.

Whenever you are around town and you think- Damn there is alot of traffic and hate being stuck in gridlock, or Damn the beach are slammed now just like LA beaches, or Damn there are people all over the place at all times of the day in Encinitas- Think of Blakespear selling out Encinitas!

Blakespear - You suck! You may tout stuff about caring about the environment and community character but actions always speak louder than word. And you sold out Encinitas- Bitch!!!!

Now its fair to say that you and Jerome Stocks are on top of the list for doing the most harm to Encinitas. You both suck!!

  10. Blakespear knows that catering to the big money interests bring her the most benefits. Most of the yokels on the City Council were sell-outs since incorporation. Water rates are skyrocketing, electricity may be impacted by the provider's liability issues, roadways are grid-locked, the quality of life declines due to extreme density - yet it is euphemistically called "affordable" by the spin artists; when in fact, it will be going market rate. Let's end this hypocrisy - call it what it is - greed mandating unsustainable development, that will permanently alter the region.

  11. Also Agree. Well said as well. Blakespear Sucks!!!! She totally sold out Encinitas.

    1. No you don't - satirical attempt at deconstructing groupthink....each and every mayor of Encinitas has been this blogs nemesis - so who's the worst? Who was the best (or least worst)? Which ones didn't sell out to developers?

      Marjorie Gaines
      Rick Shea
      Anne Omsted
      Pam Slater
      Gail Hano twice
      Maura Wiegand
      John Davis
      Chuck DuVivier
      John Davis
      Lou Aspell
      Sheila Cameron
      James Bond thrice
      Dennis Holz
      Christy Guerin
      Jerome Stocks
      Maggie Houlihan thrice
      Dan Dalager twice
      Christy Guerin
      Jerome Stocks
      Theresa Barth
      Kristin Gaspar
      Catherine Blakespear

    2. You have to factor in who led voters to think they would not be sell outs, then acted the opposite. You have to include betrayal when ranking these folks.

So, for example, I'd rank Blakespear as far worse than Gaspar: Blakespear markets herself as the resident's representative, while Gaspar never did.

      Delete
  14. Now that is a challenge - ranking the sell-outs. That would take some serious research. Jerome Stocks is a contender for worst.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Stocks is a contender for the worst, but then again you always knew what you were going to get with him. He didn't fake being anything than what he was.

Blakespear on the other hand votes like Stocks, but pretends to care. Much worse IMHO.

  15. I didn't like or vote for Stocks, but I would vote for him over Blakespear any day of the week!

  16. Dalager gets the Bad Housekeeping Seal of Disapproval for trading his council vote for kitchen appliances. Also his "Quicken" loan 'gift'.... But he was just dumb . . .

  18. EG strikes gold again with the real agenda behind the mayor's latest super annoying email blast.

    MORE!
    MORE!
    MORE!

    Encinitas Mayor Explains Her Agenda

In her weekly happy-talk newsletter, Encinitas Mayor Catherine Blakespear explained her agenda:

I can easily explain my agenda for Encinitas in one word: More.

I want more people, more houses, more apartment and condo complexes, more traffic, more GHG emissions, more tourists, more hotels, more bars and restaurants, more tax revenue for the city, more money for staff salaries, benefits and pensions, and more sand on the beaches.

That last item is meant to placate residents and make me look good.

We can’t let Encinitas fall behind. We must keep up with other cities, not only in California but in the rest of the world. That means more development and all the negative impacts that come with it.

As the population grows and the quality of life shrinks, Encinitas must be part of the downward spiral. We must preserve our paradise by attracting more people. Otherwise, we’ll be seen as an exclusive enclave for selfish individuals and families.

So the stance I take, the route I follow and the path I enforce going forward is more.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I as much as anyone agree with the sentiment that Encinitas would be better if we could prevent it from getting so crowded.

However, the state is forcing Blakespear's hand. She is no developer's shill. She and other council members were sympathetic in our neighborhood's resistance to a patch of Melia Homes mcmansions, for instance. My personal experience with her is in contrast to the random internet sniping found here at EU.

      Delete
    2. Come on now, "the state" is not forcing the good mayor to throw in all the developer goodies she's packed into measure u. She and her band of true believers (guess you're one?) can repeat that mantra till the end of time and it will still be a lie.

we really don't know what "the state" requires because our Jeff Murphy-clone planning director declined to keep records of what "the state" requires. show me where "the state" requires padding up, no more than 15% affordability, the permanent elimination of Prop A, 7 ways for builders to avoid providing any affordable housing AT ALL, blah blah blah.

3:01, show us the proof and we might just buy "the state" argument. But not till then, ya know?

      Delete
    3. 3:01 how ridiculous to call someone else's experience "sniping." She threw our neighborhood under the bus. It came back to bite her when her staff was shown to be lying and the project got killed, but she was not nice and she was not understanding and she did want her way and she was hell bent on getting it.

Goody for you she was nice to your group. Doesn't mean she doesn't wear two masks.

EG hasn't written 3 consecutive pieces of complaint for nothing. People are pissed off to the skies and all our mayor can do is send out inane newsletters that fly in the face of reality. Come on, now.

  19. EG nails it. More, More More!!!

The old saying gos "sometimes more is more!!! in blakespear book.

Given she played herself to care about residents, I would have to agree that Blakespear is the worse Mayor in the history of Encinitas with Jerome Stocks as second. At least Jerome always presented himself as an Ass and everyone knew he was about developers interests.

So everytime you are stuck in traffic downtown, are fighting for towel space at the beach, trying to find parking on your local street, or all your neighbors are building granny flats and 3 story buildings that block your shade and sky view -remember brought to you by Blakespear. Yea- Isn't this great. But the developers profits thank you!

    Blakespear..... The Total Developers Sellout

  20. Blakespear's legacy - She paved over paradise!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Blakespear and the other council members could have satisfied the HCD and RHNA requirements within the Prop A constraints. They chose not to do that.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Blakespear lead the council to oppose Prop A and override the vote of our citizens recent vote. It's that simple! She needs to GO in 2020!!!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Who wants to bet blakespear sent 3:01 to post? she's like that...like her heroes barth n Shaffer...get others to front for them.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Try 3:01 is Blakespear. My insider source told me that all the City Council Members, Mayor, City Manager and staff read this blog. I bet many of them post as well. You know 3:01 is one of them.

It is the best source of true local news available.

The whole reason staff wants to sell out Encinitas is the more property tax received the less problems the high pension debt causes at City Hall. Brust doesn't know how to manage a City and does not care. She got her pension and she is about out after serious damage to Encinitas.

Blakespear and the other dumbshits continue to allow this to happen.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Yeppers, here's what we're talking about, 3:01 (or should I say "Catherine") from the Coast News: https://www.thecoastnews.com/housing-element-approval-no-later-than-june-officials-say/?fbclid=IwAR31_Xrv2UMCpwfdbs1pZjqZx4iMA_yW_9FH95TvRvhiZqhZvqhyWPCuoQ4

Try to keep in mind that these are HCD "suggestions," not requirements and not the leap to "state law" that Blakespear likes to make:

Raising the maximum building heights from 33 feet for a flat roof and 37 feet for a pitched roof to 35 feet and 39 feet, respectively.

Changing where building heights are measured from.

The inclusion of parking lots, driveways and drive aisles in calculating the project’s density — which could result in additional “bonus” housing.

Eliminating sections from the city code aimed at requiring developers who propose super-dense projects to conform to the surrounding neighborhood and provide public benefits beyond the statutory requirements.

Blakespear will spin all that as "the law" with the aid of her true believer foot soldiers. They will continue to troll here and elsewhere with no compunction that they're lying.

What a colossal disappointment she is and what dimbulbs her remaining followers are.
