The road design issues under the Blakespear administration have led to the implementation of what can only be described as bike death traps throughout our city. The consequences have been dire: unnecessary deaths, immense suffering for families impacted by these tragedies, and lawsuits that threaten to cost the city tens of millions—potentially bankrupting it.
Yet, despite these alarming outcomes, the current City Council supports retaining the very team responsible for these fatal designs. This refusal to reassess and correct a failed strategy is not only irresponsible; it actively jeopardizes residents’ safety and well-being. Encinitas deserves a City Manager who will challenge the status quo and promote designs that prioritize safety and the needs of all community members, rather than a select few.
Always a roadbiker with skinny tires, head down and clipped in. Every. Single. Time. I don’t know if they are stupid but even the kids don’t seem to have a problem avoiding stationary objects. I really don’t care one way or the other about the bollards and curbs but if you want to make bike riding safer the clear solution is to ban roadbikes or enforce a speed limit of 8mph in the bike lane. Bunch of lemmings that come here to crash every weekend. They won’t sue because the spandex crew has been crying and crashing about every bike lane for years now and they all know the dangers inherent with their sport. The city should counter sue and significantly reduce the bike lane speed limit to protect themselves .
There was no beach there before, now there is. There were no e-bikes before, now there is. There were less people, now there is more. Roadbikers need to share and not pack our council meetings with grape smugglers from LJ and beyond. The gimp designs suck but fact of the matters is more people use that section now and road bikers are too stupid to adapt so they ride into stationary objects while locked in to their bike tighter than the gimps chastity belt. It’s purely a road biker problem that they are making it a city problem because they just a bunch of leg shaving entitled babies. Running into a stationary object is just stupid.
Wrong. Other city streets don’t have that problem. The Gimp design sucks and the city is liable.
The sooner they change it, thevsooner that people won’t get hurt and less settlement money will be paid by the taxpayers. Less pain and suffering for the residents.
Walker's accident had nothing to do with sharrows, she came out of the parking lot in the dark on a winter's morning with no lights. That story has been told a million times.
She got paid because she got a good lawyer, that's how it works. This is the story. Let it end here. All that's left are assumptions. Put it to bed. No more....
As for Roberta, do you deny the facts of her case? The sheriffs could tell from the evidence who was and who was not at fault, and why the driver was not cited.
She got more $ than she deserved for her inattention in the early morning hours. She was lucky Catherine was such a close friend.
3:10!speaks the truth you can spit all day long. Riding in the dark and dark clothing cut across a parking lot to shoot out onto the 101 and suddenly confused by sharrows she advocated for?
Everything you're talking about is Lawyer talk, they used what was available to them to get a settlement, end of story. Was her lawyer better than the city's? We'll never know, but I would lean that way.....
You are an idiot if you don't think catherine played every card she could to arrive at such an obscene pay out. The lack of personal responsibility has always struck a sour note.
No, you are because neither of us were in that meeting. And to put it in perspective, I'll take 0 right now over $10 million and being that wracked up for the remainder of my life.
Pretty bizarre that people have a take where they assume someone would sign up for that kind of suffering.
The real question is around no fault insurance and liability for cities in CA, and I'd think we might agree, something's wrong with that system..
Everything is just a guess and then people battering each other politically over a terrible accident.
This City has lost human lives on this horrible street design and this city will be losing millions of dollars and settlements in court case cases. ๐ข
When will the city council demand this incompetent city manager bring this item forward?
Why is the gimp and other incompetent street designers still leading the shots at Shitty Hall?
The mayor controls the agenda. City manager does not. Once you understand how things work, you know who is responsible for what and where the demands should be made.
The poster above is the hopeless same old repetitive poster who cannot grasp a simple concept like the truth. Does this poster have any of his own mind left? Regurgitating stunted talking points is all he has left.
This is Moonlight Beach after Brian Grover gets done with all the upzoning Stack N Pack around town under the current leadership at Kranzinitas Shitty Hall continues.
Krazinitas roads are deadly.
ReplyDeleteCan we get a real city manager to address these important issues, please?
What if the new city manager says the bollards stay?
DeleteNo real city manager would say that. The risk of lawsuits are much too high from all of the statistics..
DeleteThe Gimp and The Serial Scissorer providing input. What could possibly go wrong?
ReplyDeleteThat’s what the current incompetent city manager thinks.
Delete9:00 will ask again: who is directing her work?
DeleteShe’s the city manager. She is directing the work, fool.
DeleteIs she going rogue, 10:43? If not then why do you want to let the council off the hook? You are basically blaming the messenger.
DeleteHave they place this item on a City Council agenda to discuss?
DeleteWhy hasn’t she suggested that considering the huge risk and potential impact of the City’s finances?

The collision stats show the results.
DeleteThe City is in big trouble on this one.
Upcoming lawsuits are not gonna go well. The law considers facts. No BS.
A deposition from The Cardiff Gimp is not going to go too well.
Big settlement money bombs ๐ฐ๐ธ๐ธ๐ธ๐ฐ๐ฐ๐ฐ๐ฐahead, along with continued pain and suffering.
I can’t believe the cities is not taking action on this.

ReplyDeleteNot true.
DeleteThe statistics show that there were no collisions prior to the bike traps.
Now all types of users are getting hurt. People going various speeds on bicycles and pedestrians. Cars are having difficulty.
Face it, the Cardiff Gimp design doesn’t work. You should never let a gimp design a roadway if they’re not qualified.,
There was no beach there before, now there is. There were no e-bikes before, now there is. There were less people, now there is more. $11. Mil for Roberta Walker that was hurt on faulty city Sharrows.
ReplyDeleteDr. Worley City settlement likely contributed well over $15 million for that wrongful death. The City is burying that one as long as possible.
This one’s clearly going to top both of those. Multiple injuries and multiple lawsuits.

'Likely contributed' There you go with guessing again. Nothing new coming from you.
ReplyDeleteYou guess with every post like it is facts. They are not factual.
Well, the 11 million is fact, but if you know, please share some facts on the Dr. Worley payout.
DeleteThat’s why he’s likely because I’m not sure.
'That's why he's likely because I'm not sure'.
ReplyDeleteYou again. Spare us.
As for Roberta, do you deny the facts of her case? The sheriffs could tell from the evidence who was and who was not at fault, and why the driver was not cited.
She got more $ than she deserved for her inattention in the early morning hours. She was lucky Catherine was such a close friend.
The tax payers, not so much.
3:10pm Pfff. You are an idiot.

7:35- babble talk.
DeleteAnswer the question. What did the City pay out for the wrongful death of Dr Worley?
The info wiil get out ….
This City needs sunshine laws adopted.
Way too many staff secrets going on behind Shirty Hall walls. ๐ฉ๐ฉ๐คง
It's always babble talk when you can't comprehend something at 4am.
DeleteYou are the victim....
Cities losing millions of dollars on this one and when is City Council are gonna bring this forward?

Delete7:52- that’s BS.
DeleteThe City Manager is responsible for tracking the City work program and items that need to go forward to the City Council for their review.
The Mayor is a lay person and had little knowledge of the City’s tasks to manage a City.
Is this the incompetent City Manager blaming the Mayor for the Gimp deadly designs.
This mayor is hardly a lay person, but you know that. Not even seeing campaign promises on the agenda, no excuses.
Delete1:31- A planning commissioner role is a whole lot different than managing a city.
DeleteHe presented himself as more than ready for the job.

Incompetent city manager = crowded LA roads and beaches in Encinitas.
Let’s get a mayor that will hire a competent city manager.,
This sure sounds like Encinitas with all the wasted drivers between the drug huts and all the bars resulting from Kranzinitas.
ReplyDeletehttps://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/2025/07/21/driver-arrested-after-fatal-hit-and-run-crash-in-vista/
Encinitas = DUI drivers and zero enforcement because all your tax dollars are going g towards an empty Senior Center at Pacific View.
We need a mayor who can pick a competent city manager.
Simpleton is as a simpleton does.
