That railroad property is not ours. The FRA couldn't care less about this community having access to the 101 and the beach. The suits care only about liability of those trespassing on their property. A sad state of affairs that has not been helped by anyone serving on the transit board. Why? Because they are national and we are only a tiny community wanting have the freedom we have had to cross wherever we choose.

That is a long and inaccurate rant. The railroad right of way is owned by North County transit district which is a public entity and the board is representatives from all of the north county cities within the District. It is ours.
As chair of the district, Tony Kranz lead the effort to fence off all of our historical access crossings for no good reason.
He also greatly increased the number of trains that are running along the Corredor with extremely low ridership. It’s a huge waste of taxpayers dollars. The coaster alone increase their trains from 22 trains a day to 30 trains a day in the fall of last year at 2021. He knew the sound and all the pollution would be extremely damaging to Leucadia. He didn’t care and pushed forward with it anyway.
Meanwhile San Clemente and San Diego have had quiet sounds for years. Kristen Gaspar, Barth, and Tony and other council members have promised them decades ago with zero action. That railroad property is not ours. The FRA couldn't care less about this community having access to the 101 and the beach. The suits care only about liability of those trespassing on their property. My years next to the tracks could hardly be compared to todays, so my experience is decades old and mostly irrelevant. I got used to them somehow, but have never missed them since I left Vulcan.
Even on the east side of the 5 these days, I can hear the train blasts, day and night. Most of us can. San Clemente found a way to have quiet zones and multiple at-grade crossings.
One would think something, anything would have been learned by their example. Nada, zero, zilch in good old Leucadia. Cardiff got theirs and are getting the Verdi crossing.
Our reward, such as it is, is that we have caring residents who stand up and demand some equity. You speakers at last weeks council meeting make me proud of this community.
That is a long and inaccurate rant. The railroad right of way is owned by North County transit district which is a public entity and the board is representatives from all of the north county cities within the District. It is ours.

He also greatly increased the number of trains that are running along the Corredor with extremely low ridership. It’s a huge waste of taxpayers dollars. The coaster alone increase their trains from 22 trains a day to 30 trains a day in the fall of last year at 2021. He knew the sound and all the pollution would be extremely damaging to Leucadia. He didn’t care and pushed forward with it anyway.
Meanwhile San Clemente and San Diego have had quiet sounds for years. Kristen Gaspar, Barth, and Tony and other council members have promised them decades ago with zero action. BIAspear got hers for Cardiff. She might be the whitest white want to be Newson but at least she gets some things done for her neighborhood.
Oceanside recently constructed there’s. Absolutely nothing from Tony. Only a huge fence along all of our railroad right away the blocks all of our historical access.
What a complete fool. We get blocked access and extremely loud sleep depriving noise 24/7. Sleep deprivation is extremely serious to the mental health of the surrounding community.
