Historic Cardiff house demolished without public notice

North Coast Current:
A 100-year-old house located behind a historic church building at 230 Birmingham Drive in Cardiff was demolished in mid-August. The old church, presently a business building called The Sanctuary, has some protected status as a historical designation, but the demolition of the property behind it ― built in 1910 as a catalog kit, according to locals ― caught residents’ attention on social media.

The demolished building, on Manchester Avenue, is believed to have been the pastor’s residence.

  1. That’s Kranz for you. He’ll destroy anything historic. Historic pathway is that across the railroad right away for thousands of years and hundreds of years of western society since our western town formed. The trails date back to you thousands of years of indigenous people who lived here in harmony.

Kranz comes in and puts up a fence for no good reason. The only one that were getting hit along the line men are suicides.

So now thousands of daily people that wanna walk to the beach and to the stores west of the rarest lemon or cut off and need to drive.

I’m freaking believable. This bozo spends 10 years on NCTD board and build a fence to block access and then promotes major increase in noise sleep deprivation and pollution for our children to breathe.

Kranz is horrendous and needs to be run out of town.

    1. He didn't build the fence. NCTD built it. NCTD is controlled, lock, stock and barrell by its leader, Matt Tucker. The bucks stops there and that mechanism won't change until you dump tucker.

    2. Not true. They take the direction from the board just like cities take their direction from city Council.

If that’s the case why are you always bitching about BIASpear and DalaKranz. You’d be saying that the city manager controls all the city decisions regarding growth and capital projects like PV.

      You are wrong again.

Tony Kranz led the installation of the fence and the wasteful land hazardous increase in empty yet deadly Coaster from 22 to 30 trips a day.

  4. Not a single candidate is running on historical preservation.

Encinitas doesn’t have a Mills Act program to offer grants and low cost loans for maintenance in exchange for owner agreement to preserve important cultural resources.

San Diego has put thousands of structures, and in some cases whole districts under some historical protection. Encinitas has ONE—the Olivenhain meeting house is on the national register of historic places.

It’s a damned shame that not a single candidate is stepping up with a policy to preserve and protect the Derby House, Pannikin (rail station), the SRF lotus tower, La Paloma, and many of the old bungalows in town.

  6. There is no balanced comprehensive urban planning. The developers have bought the State legislature with their lobbying money and the "affordable" housing mandates are their reward/! There is a water shortage and the infrastructure is overloaded in regards to traffic. There are no accommodations made for these shortfalls and in fact, some high density developments won't have to have the parking spaces commensurate with the number of condos. There should be a cessation of development until a logical plan can be made to deal with all the issues involved. Blakespear just says "too bad" and packs her bag for Sacramento.

The root of all evil is a bit dramatic but speaks volumes on why we have little representation from our elected's. Our unqualified planners are the worst sellouts with the approval of council. You serve at the pleasure of the city council. Indeed. This can be for a raise or for putting the employee on probation. It was the end for Gus Vina when this happened. Is this tied in with the departure of the iPalpiti concert series? Is the council getting ready to get rid of the city manager and save the mayor from getting the blame?

We need real fact based solutions for the exponentially growing homeless brought to our community by the nonprofits. Nonprofits is a misnomer. They make their dough by appealing to peoples good sense of nature and taking the majority of donations to pay themselves handsomely, leaving a small fraction to actually go to those most in need. Scammers is what they are, feeding off the sympathy of caring people who want to help.

  47. Go to Encinitas Votes and click the magnifying glass to search. Search Tracy Conkey and you'll see she started posts in support of Bruce Ehlers, hosted a Julie Thunder Meet and Greet, and is a friend of the Morrises.

In fact, when Jeff posted a group photo yesterday of Natalie, Christie and his wife, Tracy was in the center and he blacked her face out to protect her privacy.

Tracy has trolled Catherine Blakespear's page over and over again. It's so funny now to read the things she has said about Jeremy Kron and now we know she is just as guilty.

So many whackadoodles involved in this race!

  48. Here's the link to the OTC's Oktoberfest page. https://olivenhain.org/pages/2022-olivenhain-oktoberfest

Under "Legal Stuff" it clearly says: The holder of this ticket voluntarily agrees not to engage in any campaign activities during the event.

    1. The OTC generally looks the other way unless someone has been pointed out. Morris was drinking all day, stalking Cremona (he was taking pictures of her behind her back and has posted them) and creating dissent. Sounds like folks got sick of it.

On Wasted Dogs he’s now claiming he won’t debate with non profits. Wondering if this was all a ploy to get out of the debates. Even with his notes in front of him, Jeff Morris can’t put two thoughts let alone two sentences coherently together.

      Delete
    2. 6:45 yet the OTC let Cindy work the event with her boyfriend wearing a cremona for mayor shirt. Not the first time they let her do that. Go to her mayor page and look for yourself. Rules for some not all.

  50. What’s the scoop with Tracy Conkey?

I don’t see any news articles about her.

    She caught doing something wrong?

So can you please poster explain?

  54. I find the Tracy Conkey situation so sad.

Perfect example of letting your political beliefs overcome your common sense.

Look what so many have become: rude, toxic comments to try to "best" the supporters of those you don't want in office, and the toxicity spills into real life when she (who loudly put down Jeremy Kron's taking down of signs) defaces the signs of someone running for office.

Grow up, people. This is pathetic. She has now lost all credibility.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Tracy Conkey = Double Standard.

Funny, on Catherine Blakespear's page there's a few exchanges between COnkey and Bob Nichols because they are both on the same side and insult and belittle anyone who supports Catherine. Then the other day, Bob posts about the sign defacement on EV, complaining about who would do this and lo and behold it is fellow hater, Tracy Conkey, who supports Morris, Thunder, and Ehlers.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Marco is wetting himself over on Encinitas Now trying and failing to link Ehlers with Conkey. He rejects the Jeremy Kron/Blakespear comparison which is fair considering Blakespear actually praised and embraced Kron as a supporter, whereas Bruce did not do the same with Conkey.

Conkey is hooked at the hip to Garvin every chance she gets and defends both Morrises to the bitter end. Who will Walsh and Morris get to replace her??

Hopefully she spends her time getting some help as it is going to be a very long time before she can show her face around city hall again, if ever.

    3. Anyone who uses the phrase "Cindy's Team" is Jeff Morris. Or Kim Morris. Jeff always needs a conspiracy and someone to blame it on. Anything that happens in his life is always drama of his own making, but he blames others and Kim buys into his delusions. Completely delusional couple!!!!!!!!!

      Delete
  57. I don't think he's "wetting" himself, but you make a fair point.

Although, people keep saying Blakespear praised Kron, but let's think this through: it was YEARS ago that she praised him in a newsletter. Once he grew more and more intense and it was obvious he had a screw loose, she attempted to distance herself. Notice that he only recently started commenting on her page? Um, DUH! She didn't just block haters. I believe he was blocked as well because he's nutso and she doesn't need or want that. I bet he has been a huge headache for her.

Funny, Morris posted that he somehow brokered a deal with Kron and Kron wouldn't be involved with signs and as soon as he does that, his minion Tracy Conkey defaces Dan Vaughn's signs!

    1. And Gonzalez has a financial stake in keeping Ehlers out of office; not so with Blakespear lap dog Vaughn, whom he would easily control.

    2. And Kron has all of sudden been messaging women he doesn’t know but have been verbally harassed on EU and FB by Morris. Coincidence? Not!

    3. My "financial stakes" have nothing to do with whether Bruce is on Council. I work hard to ensure my projects comply with the law and are supportable regardless of who is on Council.

      Delete
    4. But do you care about Encinitas? Let me guess, no.

      Delete
  58. but Vaughn and Ehlers are both part of the same group that is interested in reforming and slowing down development. Vaughn isn't a lap dog. He applied for the Equity Commission and was rejected, he applied to be Jody Hubbard's replacement and was rejected. Why would he be rejected so many times if he was a lap dog?

    ReplyDelete

    1. Vaughn was put up to run against Ehlers by Blakespear - at least that's what his wife was telling people. Vaughn had originally told Ehlers he would not run if Ehlers was running. How the worm turns.

    2. Do you really think Blakespear cares who is on the city council after she leaves?

      Delete
    3. No but Marco and the developers do. Vaughan is a lap dog.

      Delete
    4. Of course Blakespear cares, same as Barth still tries to exert influence as did Shaffer before she ran off tail between legs to Carlsbad so she didn't have to live near "those people" in nearby high density housing. If you don't think Blakespear is going to continue to exert influence you're delusional.

Not anymore, Tacky Tracy with her spraypaint is ready to vandalise signs!

Morris and crew make me sick.

All Julie Thunder and her ilk have ever run on is negativity, so it is no surprise that her supporters are examples of childish bad behavior.

Ehlers, Thunder, Morris need to vocally condemn and disavow this behavior NOW

  63. TACKY TRACY. The ultimate Karen, insulting and shaming people online for supporting Blakespear (hate Blakespear? FIne. But it's not your business what anyone else thinks and I am so sick of people like Ruben Flores attacking supporters and then, if they respond, he says they are trying to silence his first amendment right)
    Case in point:
    A baby in a onesie with candidates'names:
    Ruben: so tacky
Lisa Shaker: shares opinion on people who voice opinions about baby clothes
Ruben: how dare you, don't silence me.

First of all, how condescending of you Ruben. You shared an opinion, Lisa then shared an opinion that did not even mention you, and then like a snowflake, you insult her and say her voicing an opinion (her first ammendment right) is an attempt to silence you. She has every right to disagree with you.

Tacky Tracy, Rude Ruben, Bollocks Bob have all let their hatred of Blakespear take hold of their very souls and they can't see that THEY are the toxic bullies.

Were they involved in the sign vandalism?
Who was the girl holding signs that Jeff posted pics of on his FB page, asking people who she was? He said he let her go, but then he posts photos of her to find out who she is? Why didn;t he just ask her?

Or did he know Tracy did it and he posted this girl as a distraction?

  68. Jeff's awake now and is posting on his own page. No mention of his felony supporter Tracy and her criminal actions, only more attacking and spin of his interactions with Vaughn and Kranz,

Jeff, you are the only loose cannon in these scenarios, you have exhibited such erratic behavior over the last several years that no one believes your narrative. The bad behavior is YOURS. And I hope someone sues you or presses charges against you soon. You have to STOP.

  69. When is a debate not a debate?

When it is made up of one candidate not debating another.

When it is held on a zoom meeting.

What could the value be of such a thing?

It provides a candidate an opportunity to spout off without being held accountable by any opposing views.

Come on. You can do better than this, unless this was intentional, of course.

Did we all not learn a thing from the last two and half years of council disenfranchising the residents with zoom meetings?

What a waste of an opportunity to inform the public. Zoom meetings are by design limiting public involvement. By design.

    1. Even worse is how Morris disenfranchised residents and D4 constituents specifically from seeing their candidates in their only live debate in Olivenhain. He can blame and cry victim all he wants, but this one’s on him . Now he claims he won’t go to the Zoom debate (not that he’ll be missed) tonight. Bottom line is Morris is afraid to debate. He’s a one issue candidate and it doesn’t have any substance. B-bye Jeff!

  72. he has such a fixation on nonprofits. First of all, who attacks a church? Especially a church that is doing good things? CRC, JFS, Leichtag are all about helping our community and Jeff has jumped to the wrong conclusions about them again and again. They deserve better than to be bullied by him. And if he is elected mayor, he will HAVE to coordinate with institutions like these. How will he handle that? Banish them like a dictator? Can't do that Jeff! There's a reason why communities need the help of nonprofits and faith based organizations.

  73. Did a search on Tracy Conkey on facebook and found a post she wrote in 2020 about kindness. At one point in the post, she literally said "kindness, kindness, kindness"

No kindness towards those who have differing viewpoints, though, huh?

No kindness towards the property of others, huh?

No kindness towards the democratic system, huh?

But Vaughn's answer in the UT article actually has kindness in it. He's showing kindness towards her in saying he doesn't want to judge what she may have done in the heat of the moment.

Hope Tracy reads this and thinks on that for a bit.

  78. Newsom just signed legislation to allow new developments to reduce parking for the residents, given the site is within some distance from a transit center. Will this affect the massive new developments in Encinitas? It will result in absolute chaos - parking wars, crowding into adjacent neighborhoods or commercial centers for parking - just more profit for the developers. It will achieve absolutely nothing positive for the community. Thank Blakespear and her crony Gonzales for being advocates of such bad policy - it lines their pockets and furthers their personal ambitions.
