  8. So much for not being a liar! Despite his very dramatic promise to stay off social media, Morris is back at it posting, posing at the beach as a vigilant one man posse. Complete with the usual threats, sure hope the sheriff is keeping track. Someone needs to

  9. The morons have no legitimacy. Never had and never will. Blowhards like these two deserve the rot that they have wrought upon our community. What a shame! Thunder did not feel the same. Just as Crista tanked her last run, the morons did the same. As a two time loser, Thunder does not deserve a third chance to screw this community over. Two strikes and you are out. Thunder had the chance to help create a new council majority and failed us again. At least we have Bruce, but he is alone when he could have been part of a new majority.

  10. Assuming he'll follow his own practice of voting to appoint, any ideas on which way Kranz is leaning to backfill his seat? He will assuredly have the support of Hinze and Lyndes for the majority. Have heard Mali Woods-Drake's name mentioned as well as some mystery man Kranz supposedly is considering. Rest assured Garvin Walsh, who has already been quoted as supporting appointment, will have a hand directing the annointed. He cozied up to Kranz earlier this year and more recently to Woods-Drake whom he calls "sweet in person."

  11. Unbelievable freaking losers - all of you that had Kranz signs up like John Gjata, and Kathy Lees….. you should be absolutely ashamed of yourself and you are the reason why Encinitas is being destroyed by developers.

You all suck and Dalakranz sucks. Karma can not come quick enough.

    4. Kranz will appoint so he wants. He doesn’t give a shit about residents including Kathie Lees. He acknowledge most people in the city don’t support him.

He will appoint Mali and they will scream that Kathy Lee’s is a complete racist along with all the other Whiteys in Encinitas.

And residence did not overwhelmingly support Kranz. In fact, they overwhelmingly voted against kranz. A majority of voters voted against Kranz.

Maybe he could start off his reign with a good move for a change. I won't be taking that bet. He owes some manipulators a few favors and it is time to pay up. For the residents, don't hold your breath.

    2. Kranz has to appoint someone that is OK with the BIA. That's how Kranz got elected, so if Mali can help him, she will be it. If not, there will be someone else like Sharon Sherod of the Planning Commission who helped oust Bruce, or perhaps if she doesn't live in that district, he will find someone in his district that will appease the Building Industry.

      Delete
    3. How did Sherod help Bruce’s ousting?

      Delete
    4. Sherod endorsed Bruce. She did not help oust him.

      Delete
    5. Is she D1? She’s disliked too many projects to be a reliable ‘yes’ vote for Tony’s developer friendly city council.

      Delete
    6. She was a reliable "Yes" to 50% affordable. She's not the worst by a long shot.

      Delete
    7. 9:08 is right, Sherod is too much of an independent thinker for Kranz' taste.

      Delete
  14. Well, that would be John Gjata or Kathleen keys. They kiss ass to Kranz for anything even if crown shit on them all day. Both love over development in our coastal town and believe in the concept of section 8, and “affordable” housing.

Neither understand the concept of free enterprise, or handouts kill the free will and people.

  15. No, my pick is Mali- she screams racist at everybody, especially at interracial married couples. Her concept as racists like whiter than white Blakespear know much more about how to integrate society, than people who are actually living it.

They are the leaders of do as I say not as I do.

Mali is also completely illogical which is perfect. She truly believes the BIA can build affordable houses for every person in the world without a job. It’s amazing to me that people like her can you even exist.

Go Mali. Remember everybody except for you as a freaking racist.

  16. Dear conspiracy theorists,

If your election hypothetical includes 100% of votes transferring to the candidate of your choice if anyone dropped out, then you are dumb. That’s not how any of this works.

Tony would have wiped the floor with any candidate in a 1:1 matchup.

    Have a good day.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Really 9:29? Please expand on your theory. Enlighten us conspiracy theorists, please! How DOES it work, cause it seems the 4 way split worked perfectly for the not so popular Kranz. Isn't that why he didn't do any campaigning (again)? His lazy ass had another stupid candidate do his work for him. Seems pretty typical for Encinitas politics. Stack the decks and nothing changes.

      Delete
    2. "Wiped the floor?" Thanks for the laff!

      Delete
    3. 10:30, since you asked, I will elucidate.

Some voters voted for Cindy or Jeff because they liked the graphic design of their yard signs. Others because they know a friend or neighbor who supports that candidate. Others didn’t know any of the candidates and just picked the name that sounded most mayor-ish. Others voted for Cindy because she was a woman. Or Jeff because he’s a man.

To assume that all of these voters are 100% unified and motivated by a dogmatic opposition to one candidate is absurd; and to assume that they would all shift their votes uniformly to another candidate in a hypothetical scenario where their first choice didn’t exist is just plain dumb.

There are many voters who picked Jeff who would never vote for Cindy, and vise versa. Some of those would vote for Tony, others would leave the mayor’s race blank.

Let’s use an example to highlight the dumbness, shall we.

Both Tony and Bruce won with ~47% of the vote in four-way races.

If the theory that Tony would have lost without a fragmented field is true, then it should also be true for Bruce.

Do you really think that had the field consolidated down to a 2-way race between Bruce and one opponent, that Bruce’s total would have stayed at 47%, and his opponent would have won with 53%?

      Doesn’t that sound stupid?

      It should.

      Because it is.

Tony smoked the field, and there is no believable alternate universe where he could have lost this race.

    4. Considering Cremona made a minimal effort if at all, Blobe was a nonstarter, and Morris stole the show for nothing, Kranz was a shoe in. Coulda, shoulda, woulda, but don't mistake his win for his fitness for office. He's a liar, a scoundrel, and watch him to lead the majority to appoint fraudster Mali Woods-Drake in January. Then you can talk about smoking and wiping and have fun with what they've got planned for you. Sounds like you'll like it, actually.

    5. 😂😂😂 good one!!!

      What a joke.

      Delete
    6. The lol and joke comment was to 9:29am…. 😂😂

      Delete
  17. 11:31. Let’s cut to the chase. A primary would have voted out time wasters like Blobe and proven if a lunatic like Morris could actually withstand a one on one race. All your elucidation means nothing while spoilers like Redela and Morris are tossed into the salad to take votes from legitimate candidates like Ehlers and Cremona.

Look at the Thunder and Lyndes race. Both are mediocre candidates who used PACS, mailers and rhetoric equally. They both got upwards of 50% of the vote with Joy looking a little less mediocre than Julie and probably winning. No spoilers, no interference.

With a split vote, potentially consolidated resources get split and lazy slugs like Tony do nothing while narcissists like Jeff do all the work for him.

Sadly, the election reform needed in Encinitas which includes adding a primary and appointment/election reform is never going to happen while slugs/thugs like Tony rule the roost.

    ReplyDelete
  18. It's shoo-in, not shoe-in. Nobody kicked Kranz.

It's apples and oranges to compare a district race with the at-large mayoral race.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The point of comparison is a head to head race between two candidates vs. one with two spoilers involved. Same applies to Ehlers vs. Redela. Blakespear's plan to split votes away from Ehlers using Vaughn to give Redela the edge did not pan out. Davis likewise would have been eliminated in a primary.

  29. Mali is not a distraction. She is a danger. She repeats whatever is fed to her. You can see it on Encinitas Now when she and Marco tag team their lines. She says and does as she's told by her handlers. She is smooth in front of the audience if she wants to impress. Her mask slips in front of anyone who challenges her uninformed opinions. Her problem is there is a ton of evidence in the form of screenshots that show her true nature when she's not keeping herself under control.

Does Kranz really think he's going to install Mali without the whole city seeing what and who she is unmasked?

    1. Nope, she's a sideshow. She'd have to give up her lucrative gigs with E4E and SEIU. Conflicts of interest and all that. She's a grifter, who'd rather pull strings behind the scenes than have public accountability (even the little there is in Encinitas politics).

    2. Lucrative?? E4E had to move because she could not make the rent. SEIU gig she’s on the verge of losing because according to the nurses’ union, she’s not performing.

    1. What does it matter? The damage is done again. Half the registered voters didn't engage, we had a split vote and the same management remains in charge.

The only activists that ever seem to make any progress here are the ones on the side of the council.

When was the last win for the residents? Prop A?

We're watching the complete disintegration of what was once a lovely beach town. Greed, corruption and progressive values are leading our city's decisions now.

It seems the complainers will have plenty to bitch about and no way to win for the next 2-4 years. Every proposed development will get approved as well as a homeless shelter. We will continue to be expensive, full of traffic while the city gets seedy and rundown.

All you whiny activists should have managed the last election cycle better. You let Julie and Garvin call the shots and we got nowhere. Again. You were all so easy to outmaneuver.

Julie thought she was entitled to win this seat and thought Tony, even if he didn't openly help her, would not move against her. But Tony backed Joy and did nothing for anyone so Joy won. Sadly, a lot of you knew Julie was flawed and backed her anyway. So now you don't have a new mayor and only one new council member, who can be a perpetual (and safe) martyr by always voting against the majority. Whoopee - coz to celebrate!

Julie had all you idiots convinced her seat was more important than the Mayor's - and guess what? She was dead wrong. Now Tony gets to call the shots AND he gets to replace his position with an appointed handpicked progressive, probably Mali.

Even the insiders chose wrong and the rest of Encinitas pays the price. Good job you bunch of losers.

    7. If you're such an insider, you'd have proof. Without proof, you're just spreading bullshit. If you don't care what people believe, why are you posting bullshit here?

    10. No mention of how Mark & Mo were involved in Julie's scheme. You haven't even scratched the surface.

    11. 5:23 Julie always had the Republicans helping her, including Gaspar who was backing Jeff Morris of all people. Repubs have all lost their right wing minds since Trump, Julie included. Many who know her know just how conservative she really is.

  35. 2:52 Ehlers was on board until Tony fired him. He said he could work with Tony. Now he has to.

  36. 5:22 don't have to. One of those assholes will piss the other off and it will eventually all come out.

BTW why do you think Julie stayed on Watchdogs? 1) She never disputed the nasty things Jeff said about other mayoral candidates 2) she supported Morris's candidacy clandestinely as did her PAC's owner - but everyone knows that already 3) Even if she wanted to bail, she couldn't without risking the truth coming out of the scumbag backstabbing Morrises.

Also, many here recall Julie, Kim and Garvin all saying nice things about Tony when he supposedly backed ONV earlier in the year.

    Quotes from EV by Walsh:
The City Council debated the Tony Kranz proposal to back the Local Control petition drive tonight. Public comments from Bruce Ehlers and Julie Thunder in support were sharp and well-stated. Councilman Kranz argued his position well, but he couldn't even get a second to bring it to a vote. He's on the right side of what is going to be a winning issue.

    and by Thunder in 2021
I'm not going to jump in and criticize Tony here. In my mind, he came to the right conclusion and acted on it, albeit late in the game and in a weak way. Lately I've noticed that he is often the outlier in 4-1 votes. Maybe something has happened to allow him to see who the other 4 truly are? I honestly don't know, but when someone makes a turn for the better, I have to support that (even if I do it quietly).

The alliances were made well before anyone announced. Julie sold out to Tony so she could win, just like her best bud Morris tried to sell out to Blakespear.

Happens all the time and it happened to us.

    1. Good work hanging onto those comments, I remember them. Julie was admonished for being taken in by Kranz, but continued her "give him a chance, he's redeemed" remarks.

    2. I remember those too. I was really surprised, especially since Julie seemed to hate everything about Blakespear and her council. Politics makes strange bedfellows.

    3. 5:44 Because Thunder supported Kranz in his local control effort does not prove she conspired with Morris and Walsh to get Kranz elected as mayor. Generally speaking, Kranz and Thunder are on opposite ends of the political spectrum. She is more aligned with Cremona and Ehlers for her goals in Encinitas.

    5. 9:10 really? than why didn't she support Cremona? She did the exact opposite actually.

  37. You can lead a horse to the water but can't make him drink. The same goes for some deniers who fail to see the underhanded political machinations that have brought us to where we are now. No matter how many times an explanation of certain relationships is offered, it is not enough for a few. "The truth is out there". haha Find it yourself. The rest of already know by paying attention for years and decades.

  38. 7:05 None of the candidates publicly supported each other:

Even though Jeff’s shoot at the hip style is not as polished as some may like, it didn’t bother Julie because she knows Jeff is a genuine good person, and would be tough on crime and on people trying to destroy Encinitas. She also knew that although Cindy appears more polished, she’s not sincere, and would not be able to handle people like Marco. On a personal level Julie supported Jeff b/c he’s authentic. Whereas Cindy is not.

Julie also knew Cindy’s underhanded personality would not be equipped to handle people like Mali. She would probably just scream and get in a cat fight like she did with Leah, Bhvanni, etc. The people that know Cindy well, and stuck with her, are aware of her behavior and have seen her manipulative ways in action. But they supported her b/c they too, are manipulative. Good decent people like Bhavani and Leah detracted, when they saw behind the curtain of the Cremona Club.

Ehlers not wanting to lose Jeff or Cindy votes, stayed clear of the mean girl b.s.

Bruce talking to Julie was relatively safe b/c anyone voting for Bruce would most likely not be voting for Joy Lyndes.

  41. You would've had to get out of the house once in a while to realize what became obvious to many watchers of the campaign operators who pulled this stunt of a run off. It was obvious at a couple of the debates just how friendly certain candidates were with certain operators. You can deny all you want and you will remain clueless by your own choice to not attend the public debates and see for yourself how chummy these few were. It worked for them. For our community, not so much. Maybe next time. Over and out and done with you and your denials of what many saw for themselves who watched closely the debates and the public who took the time to attend in person. Watching a broadcast of the debates missed so much of the interactions of certain operators. I was watching the audience more than the candidates for a good reason. The camera was focused, as it should have been, on the candidates. There was so much more going on than what was up on the stage. You have no clue and I am not going to elaborate for you. Next time, try getting out of your house and see for yourself. The real show was in the peanut gallery.
