Jerome Stocks unites Encinitas

I'm seeing more and more of these around town: "Dump Stocks."

I'm old enough to have lived in every single beach town from here to Ocean Beach, and I can't recall anyone ever knowing a mayor or council member's name, much less being motivated enough to drive around with a bumper sticker.

Jerome Stocks inspires people like no one I've seen.

I get the sense that Mark Muir is savvy enough to understand this, and that's the reason he's distanced himself from Stocks in rejecting the anointed mayor plan.  Kristin Gaspar? Not so much.

  1. Dump Stocks?? The bumper sticker I see around town says "don't re-elect anyone." That's the one I like. Dump them all, every one of them.

  2. I haven't seen the "don't re-elect anyone" bumper sticker. The "Dump Stocks" seems to be everywhere. I've even seen it at council meetings!!

A blanket condemnation of the whole council seems a nihilistic approach to me. Besides only three of the five council members are up for reelection. Bond has said he is stepping down, and I believe him this time. That only leaves Stocks and Muir, and Muir was the handpicked replacement for Maggie Houlihan. I won't be voting for either Stocks or Muir. It's time for a change.

  3. I have it on my car, on my scooter and I'm proud to display it. I must say, though, for the unaware residents who does not even know who is on the council, it might be construed as an anti-wall street bumper sticker. At least it does not say "Dump Stocks and Bond". That would really confuse the masses!

  5. Hey that's my truck... I'd rather write in a vote for Bob than help re-elect any of our current "leaders".

  6. Love Encinitas? Dump Stocks, Fire Muir, Stop Forrester.
That would be more like it!

  7. Please consider voting for Tony Kranz and Lisa Shaffer. They advocate open government (no more secret "Stocks" meetings), & no bully techniques! Both are willing listeners, both love Encinitas and want to keep its flavor, both are beholden to the citizens of Encinitas. Each has attended city council meetings for years and has a depth of knowledge that is impressive. They take their responsibilities seriously and would be a breath of fresh air in a very stale city hall.
