Construction is underway on bike and pedestrian improvement projects in North San Diego County. The project comes just 10 years after a San Dieguito student was killed at the Santa Fe underpass.
Paths will be built beneath the Interstate 5 overpasses at Santa Fe Drive and Encinitas Blvd.
The work, which will cost $12.5 million, should be finished in late summer 2019.
"The project comes just 20 years after a San Dieguito student was killed at the Santa Fe underpass."
ReplyDeleteThe student was killed in 2007. 2018-2007 = 11 years.
If you are going to throw shade, at least get your facts straight.
Ah, only 11 years. That's the blink of an eye in "staff" years.
DeleteThanks. Math is hard.
Delete20 years of a deadly condition and Encinitas is finally addressing the issue. Typical.
ReplyDeleteIts about the same issue as all the deaths on Hwy101 and the speed at which the City addresses that issue.
Lives of residents dont seem to have much value to City leaders in this town. But if your homeless, we will give you free rent, feed you, and let you hang out at the beach all day.
Welcome sketchy homeless and screw you residents! That seems to be the City Motto!
Welcome high-priced consultants and city workers who love to make nice with developers.
DeleteWe give free rent to homeless? Where/how?
DeleteWill there be safe passage on both north and south sides?? Or will the city half-ass this construction also?? Yes I know Caltrans will be responsible for the construction but the city had to sign off on the design, so do it include safe passage for both north and south sides??
ReplyDeleteAlso Muir's road sponsorship is filthy. Trash everywhere.
In N' Out wrappers thrown out of Muir's car?
DeleteIt will look like the Solana Beach under crossings only crappier.
DeleteCRAP seems to be a theme in this town...
DeleteSection 8 housing and housing vouchers. Check the expenditures every month.....endless list of dolling out taxpayers money to others that in many cases chose not to work to try and earn keep without charity.
ReplyDeleteTimes have changed. Now people sell out their souls all the time for government funding. Its a shame because the people don't realize how bad that effects their peace of mind and happiness. Sad but true
Dont you always enjoy something much more when you buy it with hard earned money verses when someone gives it to you as their discard. Its the same thing.
I was under the impression that Section 8 is a federal program, not city. Plus it has a long application process with certain requirements. It is administered out of a city agency, to be sure, but to me it's not evidence that the council cares more for homeless than its residents.
DeleteIt's not like a homeless person can show up in Encinitas and ask Catherine Blakespear for rent money.
No but the City will do everything in their power to encourage the homeless rats to stay and mooch off the free services and sketchy up our town all while they shaft the existing residents needs.
ReplyDeleteHow is that quiet zone throughout Encinitas doing that they have stalled for over 7 years at the City?
The City needs some serious leadership in order to get things done. And not some has been hag who's bidding her time until retirement like all the other crappy managers the City has hired.
Misogynist and ageist attacks against the CM. Yup, it definitely sounds like some of the fired engineers are posting here.
Delete6:51-
ReplyDeleteYeah- ignore that nothing positive gets done by the city in Encinitas.....
Who do you blame?
Why are you trying to protect a terrible CM?
Oh, family!!!... now I get it. Income.
8:41am You get nothing.
ReplyDeleteYour ignoring the fact that the CM serves at the pleasure of the council, is telling and deserves no consideration.
Enough.
Plead your case to the city council.
That is, if you think you have one.
Come down to the council meeting tonight. You have three minutes to say your piece.
I suspect you would never crawl out of the darkness to do so, cockroach, that you are. Scurry away from the light is more your style.
You get nothing.
Spouted off by anonymous ....
DeleteClassic. The city manager sucks. Bad recommendations to counsel all day long .
The city Council or false for following her recommendations. I will be voting against all of them next election. Crazy eye has a chance of winning .
12:41pm. sliming mikey, It figures.
ReplyDeleteOnce a tool, always a tool. You are stuck in the past.
Catch up.
Never mind, any expectations of decency have long been abandoned.
You really need some professional help to overcome your predilection to attack various women who refuse to stoop to your level and respond in a way that is so well deserved.
Once again, absolutely not Mike, Mikey, Michael or Michelle; such obsession?
ReplyDelete8:41 definitely an ousted city worker. You can spot the all-too familiar whine a mile off.
ReplyDeleteWe get it, 8:41: lost income. Boo hoo - about time, parasite.
Fricken moron. 4:36 - 5:15!
ReplyDeleteThe City Council is responsible for the poor leadership and the absolute lack of production from City Hall!
No Quite Zone, no streetscape, no nothing from City Hall except approval of more bars and increased density projects with the ever push for more units and more and more people and traffic..... all until it looks just like Huntington Beach.
Well I'm done alright. Done with this shitty City Council who keeps inept people in place that are supposed to be effectively leading the City.
Any Councilmember supporting this bag lady look alike as a leader, is not getting my vote next election. Brust is a Bust. Hire a competent City Manager.
You give yourself away every time, 8:10. You just can't resist going after the city manager, whom we all know takes her marching orders from the council.
DeleteBut the council didn't can you, Brust did, which is why you keep slamming her. Thanks to Brust taxpayers citywide can sleep well, knowing another one bit the dust.
The best thing for the Encinitas tax pairs, would be to fire this incompetent city manager. Her lack of leadership is the cause of massive tax fund waste at City Hall
DeleteHer marching orders from council were to get these projects done. Her inability to get the project done shows she has no leadership capabilities.
ReplyDeleteCouncil needs to hold her accountable. Since she is not accountable a good councilmember would fire her .
I will be voting for a councilmember to fire the current incompetent manager and hire a competent city manager. It’s that simple .
Maybe you'll get lucky and someone in your district will run on that platform.
Delete8:10pm. If only you were done with our city, it would be a good thing for all of us.
ReplyDeleteI suspect, and it has already been shown, you are not done. Seek some professional help.
If you are so outraged, grow a spine and show up and say your piece in the allowed three minutes for public comment.
Never going to happen.
11am and why are you posting on this blog?
DeleteTruth hurts. And apparently I hit a nerve .
The public notices nothing is getting done .....
1:10pm. Sometimes I post to call out spurious attacks against those that are undeserving of the crap that you choose to foment.
ReplyDeleteYour attempts to create division are spurious and are worth as much.
Where was your outrage when Gus Vina, Jeff Murphy, and the other cretins were pulling their crap down on our city?
Now you go after Karen every chance you get, you troll. The possibilities of who you are and why you have a thing for [against] Karen can only be a few people. Sunlight should have its day and it cannot come soon enough in your case.
Every resident.and staff member sees the inept leadership at City Hall. Where were you when all the truths were told about Vina and others?
ReplyDeleteIt’s not personal against Brust... it just she’s a proven failure!
The point will always be, “Are positive things getting done at city hall?
Right now the answer is a big fat NO!!!
You can hate all you like but it won’t change the fact that nothing’s moving in the right direction at city hall. I hope the Sunlight does come out in Encinitas. Then the city will hire a good city manager and things will get done!!
The letting go of the worst city staff offenders was just the start of getting things done. Residents think she's doing a bang-up job making progress where it most counts to us: removing the deadwood and creepy creeps. And she's not done yet, not by a long shot.
DeleteCity workers scared? GOOD. Morale low? About time.
And we can do this for 20 years and tax payer get screwed. Morale low. Yes. Staff hates the B.... she's like the Heart of Q - meaning Qessential- unorganized B'tch. You earn respect. Not by bitching about things and selling people out, but leading by example.
DeleteSo, two years and counting.... she's let go some deadwood. She was behind the last failed housing element being sold to council and residents, bars have prospered under her reign (with residents suffering), streetscape infinite delay (yeah EIR is approved in record time- 3 years), zero progress on quiet zones (which have been a Priority for 10 years yet gone backwards) under her leadership, I can keep going...... nothing moves or it moves backwards....
The worst at the City Hall deserved to go. The issue is she can't manage productive staff because the good leave and the industry knows she is a "case"
See her past cases- all have said good ridden. " Great Job K- watch get door when you leave- Ha. All took awhile to get back on track. Del Mar, San Juan Capistrano, and now Encinitas.
PS- Encinitas is fucked for 5 years until we get a Council that will rid this cancer.
5:51pm The only hate expressed comes you alone.
ReplyDeleteCity council should be your target if you have legitimate claims to back up your opinion. Karen serves at the will of the council, but of course you know this.
A proven failure? Prove it. That would have to mean the city council is a complete failure.
This is an election year, as if anyone could forget it. You are trolling for ulterior reasons to create division more than just what the city managers' doing what the council directs her to do.
Every resident and staff member sees the inept leadership at city hall? That is a broad statement that means little and does not approach any kind of reality.
I feel for your world view and hope someday you can see the light and rejoin with a more positive outlook. It will serve you better than where you are at now. Such negativity can manifest itself in unhealthful ways if you continue to spread your vitriol. Peace out.
OMG - That was so deep... Wow I am moved.
DeleteWe shall see. I for one am not happy with this feel good talk a lot, blame Vina, and do nothing City Council.
I can't Waite for elections! I hope we get some good candidate wanting to get something positive accomplished.
