Ah Mary, we miss you in the Coast News, but understand why a certain past editor made your contributions untenable. Tony Cagala you are not missed.
I still have one of Mary's illustrations on my frig. after all these years. It was about a beautiful rose flower with a stem of thorns being passed along the chain down to the residents ultimately causing bloodied hands.
Timeless, and so relevant all these years later. Mary, you are a treasure.
I like the one where she depicts a consultant as a pimp and the City of Encinitas as a beautiful young woman who he is trying to sell. Very astute and still true, Mary!
To all, today is National [International?] Oceans Day.
Greenpeace has a 90 second film, Breathing in and Breathing Out, that is well worth the time to watch. We all get most of the oxygen life on this planet needs to survive from this precious resource.
To imagine anyone would support such a destructive course of action, and a crucial to life resource, in pursuit of the almighty dollar deserves their own place in hell.
We are so fortunate to live where we do, but it takes constant vigilance to resist those that care not, but for how their bottom line can profit.
Breathe in. Breathe out. Our future generations will ultimately see how well we did, and what we left for them to deal with.
Shows you just how hard the city has dug its heels into the same losing proposition as five years ago. Idiots all, wasting our tax money so shamefully.
You are correct about the city digging in its heels. This coming Wed. Planning and council are at their same old tricks again with an agenda full of code breaking 'modifications' serving their developer masters.
See the agenda for yourselves on the city's website. Pack the hall and shut them down. Again and again and again.
It takes constant vigilance and due diligence to keep up with the staff serving their developer masters. Pick, pick, pick away at established standards hoping the public won't notice.
Well, we do, and have learned the hard way, which you have not, and you are all on notice.
Except what Prop A requires to be voted on, what exactly is the council "... at their same old tricks again with an agenda full of code breaking 'modifications' serving their developer masters"? If you're talking about the inclusionary housing ordinance, it's the council that created the ordinance, which is not state mandated, and they are free to amend it. I wouldn't call that "code breaking modifications".
BREAKING NEWS!!! This from the latest letter to the City from HCD, dated 6-12-2018;
"Zoning for an unaccommodated need and short fall MUST MEET the statutory requirements set forth in GC Section 655832.2 and (i) for example, multifamily housing developments WITH 20% or MORE of the units affordable to lower-income households MUST be permitted WITHOUT discretionary action"

ReplyDeleteMy other favorite is King Jerome holding a button under the dais manipulating Kristin like the puppet she always was and continues to be.
ReplyDeleteMary we miss you, even though you haven't gone away.
Thank God the last election permanently finished off $tock$ political ambitions and has halted Gaspar's upward mobility.

While you're breathing, remember to vote "No."
