The frustrated poets of city hall

  1. Funny. My first reaction is that it's directed at cyclists.

  2. Why would someone put something so large and bulky in the bike lane? If I was in the middle of a peloton approaching that thing I would freak out!

    1. #1 there is no bike lane. #2 8:18 AM isn't riding their bike on Coast Highway. Let's be real here.

  3. Why is it in the bike lane?? Because your city govt is full of idiots. Dumb as doorknob idiots.

    Encinitas=FAILURE.

    1. FYI, that is not a bike lane. It is a shoulder. That is why there are sharrows on that stretch of Coast Highway.

    2. 10:27 AM = FAILURE

There is no bike lane in the photo. Going through life must be confusing for you.

  4. Ha. Even the cyclist in the photo is afraid to use the sharrow lane.

    1. Most people are afraid to use a sharrow lane. That little symbol in the road won't protect me from the impact of a motor vehicle.

    2. This sign forces people into the road. So silly. Most bike riders ride all the way to the edge of payment. Especially here. The fools that ride in the middle are jerks and usually think they own the road, riding in packs, which is against the law if side by side.

  5. How about this for a peom: "Don't be a toad, vote out the council in 2020!!!

    1. Or: Don't be a toady, vote out Tony!

  6. How about;
Welcome to Encinitas, be a toad and hop in front of a train. We don't care.
If we did we would trench the tracks.

    1. Why would we care about dipshits dumb enough to be accidentally killed by a train? Or if they're committing suicide, also, not a problem. They'll find a way to do it, whether we spend an ass load of taxpayer money protecting them from themselves or not.

  7. If you're going to cry about that giant shoulder somehow being different than a bike lane, you're not qualified to wear your dorky spandex. Find an easier mode of transportation that's more your speed, instead of being the inconsiderate, in the way, asshat that you clearly are.

  8. NewsAlert! Don't wear black clothing at night while riding a bike.
New Sign: "Don't be part of a tire track by wearing all black at night!"

  9. The City Hall is a complete failure. The signs do nothing except block a clear path for a bicyclist.

Why doesn't the Mayor ride her bike with her kids in the sharrow lanes?

Answer- because its not fucking safe on a 50 mph road.

Vote out the incumbents they support this shitty management.

    1. News flash to 5:36, the incumbents ARE this shitty management.

    2. Last time I checked we don't get to vote OUT anybody. The question always comes down to who you will vote IN!

  10. I saw a young woman who rented a bike downtown cut diagonally thru an intersection without looking; she had no safety gear on. Now electric bikes shoot thru intersections without stopping - it is commonplace. Encinitas is not a bike friendly city for the careless, but these tourists/locals don't seem to get it.

    1. NO PLACE is bike friendly for the careless!

  11. Public streets are here for the equal use of exercise enthusiasts on bicycles (don't bore me with grossly inflated, fake-news statistics about biking commuters). They are entitled to an equal number of lanes, and they are immune from petty inconveniences like stopping at signs or lights or maintaining minimum speeds on major highways. Next step is the joggers. When skateboarders and rollerbladers eventually find equal status on the roadways, jumping potholes with ollies and pop-shove-its while casually and arrogantly taking up a lane, self-righteous bicycle d-bags will finally get it.

    1. Natural Selection should take care of the problem if there really is a lack of individual responsibility ensuring personal safety. Roberta, from all public accounts thus far, sort of exemplifies this point. It's tragic, and nobody likes to see people hurt, but Roberta fan-boys(girls) ... deal with it and quit your pathetic whining if you can't exist in reality. You can't jump off a cliff and blame society when it's not at the base with a net.

  12. The KLCC 2% are definately sick and twisted in the head. Its scary to think there are people out there driving with that mentality. All please be careful, vote for City Council candidates in 2020 that will actually accomplish something beside supporting the do nothing positive City Manager, and KLCC please turn in your keys.

If the City will not do something to address the known and existing hazardous conditions on Hwy101, at least it should be checking in on Roberta, Stephanie Berger, and others. It would be nice to send them bunt cakes and get well card, and give them all the City info to help them with their claim. I estimate Encinitas will pay out $10 to $20 million for these two claims alone.

That roadway is so fucked up and everyone knows it yet nothing is done....Who's kid is next and why won't the City act on this known hazard?

    1. 6:20 Let me finish your post: And get streetscape done because I think it will increase my property value.

    2. 6:20 is the irrelevant Marvy Charles. Just step over it.

    3. Marvy Charles sounds spot on. N. Coast Hwy 101 is a known death trap and people are dying.

My taxdollars will likely pay for this unwillingness to address the known hazard. Money that could have went towards other projects will now be given to those deserved by the injury.

      This City is negligent!

    4. The KLCC are all old and dying. They have earned nothing, and achieved nothing meaningful in life. Everything they have ever supported, fails. They are angry and bitter at their failed lives and their impending mortality. They express this unfocused rage at the universe by seeking attention and lobbying for policies that kill and harm others.

They are sad. They have blood on their hands.

      Pity them.

      Ignore them.

    5. HI-larious, considering Marvy Charles is the aging author of the long-idiotic klcc posts.

  13. The city is installing highway wide speed bumps on 101?? Is there any other idiotic ideas that Kathy won't endorse??

    2. They're supposed to be speed tables, not speed bumps or cushions.

  14. Speed limit is now 30 on the 101 - beware have seen traffic cops with radar guns when the limit was 35.

    1. Where Carlsbad?

There are no cops ever giving tickets on Hwy 101 in Encinitas.

Our City Hall is the sad joke of the state. Could a City be managed any worse?

Vote in a whole new crop of City Members next election and lets clean up our mess.

  15. If speed tables and speed bumps are good for 101 and other streets they'll be better on Enc. blvd and El Camino....

    Encinitas=FAILURE

    ReplyDelete
  16. The bumps are so lame!

    ReplyDelete
  17. People fly over them. They purposely speed up. City Hall is lame and encouraging law suites. Assholes.

The street needs roundabout at intersections to help with cross traffic and slow speeds..

So the City knows the known hazard and is going nothing. This is not going to end well for the taxpayers.

Fuck the KLCC 2 % and build the roundabouts. The City Councl has blood all over their hand and and bodies, our citizens are getting mowed down, and the street is practically in the same condition and will claim another unnecessary victom. Lets ask Roberta and Stephanie if the City should have installed the bikelanes roundabouts sooner. What would they say?

  18. I just drove thru there. They installed the speed bumps in the bike lanes as well.....or are my eyes playing tricks?
