  1. Two weeks ago the mayor congratulated herself at the end of the meeting for holding a discussion that included (gasp) differences of opinion before voting...wait for it...5-0

From Dec. 16, 2013 - eerily and awfully similar to today's council, back then they congratulated themselves for being "nice" to one another.

7 years ago - same today as it was then:
"The road maintenance backlog is still underfunded and getting worse. The pension liabilities are still underfunded and growing. The council continues to take on additional debt with no discussion of how to service it. Public trust in the council is still badly damaged by the council's unambiguously dishonest ballot arguments against Proposition A. City contractors, under lax city oversight, continue to violate environmental regulations both with respect to protecting trees at construction projects and to preventing toxic waste runoff into the lagoon.

But the council members are nice to each other."

    1. Wow, thanks for the blast from the past, 5:06!

It's great to know people still remember!

And that's one of the benefits of the blog format, I think. While Facebook sites like Encinitas Votes are great discussion forums and we love them(!), I don't think their history is as searchable.

  3. History shows us that the staff members pimp the accounting records and congratulate themselves on the strong fiscal management of city finances. Then they ask for and get a raise. We particularly need Susan Turney in office so that she can tell us what is really happening from the accounting point of view!

  4. If I vote for Blakespear does that mean I’m against Encinitas? I’m thinking it means I’d like to ruin this town once and for all. Guess I better vote for Julie Thunder.

    1. I’m voting for Blakespear because Thunder is a liar and violated her clean campaign pledge. Thunder is the queen of sweet sweet BIA concrete, and East County wing nut PAC money.

    2. Anything coming from gonzalezzz and the mayor's hubby means run the other direction. That would be you, 8:07. You started with that sad refrain months ago. No traction, get a clue.

With $30K dedicated to the dictator's reelection coming from just three developers, 2 of them Measure U parcel owners, look in the mirror. It's your mayor who sits on the BIA throne. And disgraced Gonzalezzz funneling their contributions to the mayor.

She voted to change the affordable housing calculation at SANDAG to bring more high density projects to Encinitas. 4 SANDAG cities that will suffer under her greed are now suing because of her vote. You can cry wingnut all you want, but you're pointing at the wrong one.

If blakespear gets reelected he'll become head of SANDAG. Folks think it's bad now? There won't be an inch of Encinitas she won't cover in cement to pursue her agenda.

    1. I trust in the overwhelming evidence and conclusions of science.

Science, decency, and truth are on the ballot Tuesday, and they are kicking ass!

Did you see this poll showing Gaspar circling the drain?

    2. VOSD is notoriously friendly to Blakespear, Remer, and their ilk. They often report based on their bias and desires, not reality. We'll all know soon enough!

    3. 8:02 you mean like rising seas, acid rain, ozone size getting larger, dying polar bears soon to be extinct.
ALL LIES. Don't be fooled. It's been a scam for over 25 years. Lie after lie. And, for those that believe in the lies...grow up and stop being the fool.

    5. Thank you 9:46 am. And yet you didn't even try and counter my comments. And folks, that is how it works. The whackos can't argue. All they can do is try and insult people.
These are liberals and what is the saying?

    6. 12:38 Because your comments are ignorant and stupid, they're not worthy of a response. That would be elevating them to a level they don't deserve.

    7. Or 2:51 is it because you can't respond as you would be wrong. Gullible warming, something for fools to believe in.
