A lot of good history here.

Dirty tricks are nothing new in Encinitas!

Thompson will be a guest on an Encinitas Viewpoint Zoom meeting this Thursday.

  1. It is a reminder that this council member put her life at risk to protect our city from the types of people who our current council caters to. In exchange, they receive political donations from these developers. Vote for Thunder, Turney and Riley.

  2. Just finished the book and thought it was great. Reminded me how evil Stocks, Bond and Mayor Dan were. And how evil Meyer was and is. At Least Paul Ecke kind or redeemed himself a bit at the end of the book. Nice job Ian. Confirms my resolve to vote Thunder, Turney and Riley!

    1. Put the book in the local library.

  3. Reading confirmed a lot about Encinitas failed leadership under this tribe of bandits. Now that same slimy behavior we see in what is there now. Vote these dubious three out.

  6. For those new to city politics in Encinitas this book will give you a better understanding of the dynamics behind the scenes in regards to city politics and development. Stocks and the Republican stooges of the past have been replaced by the "progressive" Democrats on the council now, but the same behind the scenes control is still exerted. David Meyer could care less about the woke politics of Blakespear as long as he can build 240 unit condos around the corner from your house, and boy can he under this regime. Look at how much money Hinze and Blakespear are getting from the local and out of town developers, do you think it is because those developers want what is best for the citizens of Encinitas. I am going to hold my nose and vote for a Republican for the first time in 30 years for city council. Change is needed.

    1. Look, I agree with you that we need to get developers out of our local politics. But Julie ain't it.

She's the Trump to Blakespear's barely tolerable Biden. If young people have to suck it up and vote for Biden, we can do the same and vote for Blakespear.

    2. And 2:03 you can retain the same ol' garbage leftist nonsense of gullible warming, build more partments' for po' peoples and all the other phony leftist ruining failures that go with it. Ya' go ahead and vote for it.
      And continue the fool.
You may not like Trump but you cannot deny he is doing a good job. Think not? Do your homework

    3. Trump is doing a good job? On what? He's the worst president the US has ever had. Have you been brain dead for the past nearly four years?

    4. This is so great. We have Trump is is just bad. And we have Biden who is a rapist, a liar that hasn't had an original thought in his head in 50 years and now has alzhiemers. Great Choices. I'm voting 3rd party and I would never vote for Blakespear, she has proven to be more corrupt than Stocks. I never thought that possible.

  7. Historically both sides self serving greedpricks. Appreciate your view 6:44am.

Just checked the box for Thunder and Turney.

I want to know the views of all 5 Enc Union School Board Board candidates. Give me your best shot Encinitas Undercover. Hold nothing back.

FWIW how much do you pay in property tax for that house you bought for 365K now worth $1.2?

Can anyone do the math of 4% of $1.2M?

    It's coming.

    Thanks

    3. Perhaps our resident Nazi broken record can chime in and identify which candidates are the cultural Bolsheviks. I'm sorry...that was the old term Hitler used...it's been changed by the modern Nazis to cultual Marxists. Same bag.. different shit.

  9. So I was on the George Soros call again this morning.

He says the deep state is totally coming through, and that right wingers may as well not even vote.

We got it locked up, what with all the extra ballots we shipped in from China.

From Blakespear to Biden, it’s a clean sweep.

    Yup.

Don’t waste your time. It’s a lock. May as well stay home.

Mr. Soros and the Illuminati dug deep this time. Pretty sure I heard champagne corks popping in the background on the call. Maybe Georgie was a little tipsy, because everyone on the call got a $10,000 bonus!

  12. I do not see an endorsement from Ian Thompson for our mayor or council members. In fact, he seems to be supporting the challengers.

    1. He is rightly on Susan Turney's list of endorsers. They are in District 2. I haven't checked the other two challengers' lists.

    2. Tune in tomorrow night and find out just how much he supports or opposes the candidates.

  13. Our current mayor and council members up for election are all spouting the deep community roots card. Didn't we learn that that is a poor platform before? The Dalager Platform is not really a set of policy positions except to live in and inherit Encinitas family assets that the rest of us have to buy with our own money. Also, we get to hear all of the stories! Enough already! Let's get a mayor and council who represent residents not the Encinitas historical society of which their relatives all have a starring role.

    1. They use their air time blathering deep roots because they have nothing of substance to say. They think no one will notice they got nuthin'. With a combined 16 years on council you'd think they'd have something they could point to with pride.

News flash blakespear: your "gold medal" climate plan based on San Diego? San Diego was just sued by the sierra club and five others because it violates CEQA. you're flat without that shaky chair leg.

  18. Dear, and much respected, Ian, as one who personally helped you and Maggie keep some fencing in an upright manner until you could sell the property, I would love the chance to have a signed copy.

You remain a much respected personage through all the ups and downs, and it is good to see your timely publication show a little of what Maggie meant to many of us.

I know I have asked if you would run for office, but wisely, you knew better after all the bs you and Maggie went through.

I wish you the best, and you deserve nothing less. May all the happiness come your way. It is much deserved.

I can't help but see you in a position of delegated authority at some future point in time, but that is just me imagining how your special breath of fresh air would be much appreciated.

I would love to have a signed copy if it is not too much to ask. Sorry I missed your live talk last Friday.
