Kranz considers opposing SB-9... after it's too late

A day after handily surviving the recall, Gov. Newsom signed SB-9 eliminating single-family neighborhoods.

From the Inbox:
For months, residents have been challenging and begging the council to join other California cities and take an official stance against state bills SB9 and SB10 to no avail.  The council remained steadfastly silent on these forced high-density housing bills that kill local control.

Until now.  Kranz, a day late and untold millions in developer profits short, agendized as a council-initiated item for September 22 an "SB 9 Veto Request Letter."  Kranz's discussion will be held a week after Newsom signed his approval of the bill.

Kranz is rumored to be planning a run for mayor in 2022 and appears to be doing so with his hands on the rear-view mirror.

it will soon take 3.5 hours to get from Olivenhain to the beach

But hey at l;east you got equity?

    1. 140 units coming soon to the Quail Gardens area - it'll take 30 minutes just to get out of the complex and another 45 to go 2 blocks to the freeway. So much for urban planning. Newsom is sold out to the big money elite.

    4. Not yet, but it will in time and you will be paying my market rate for all the units I'm going to slam into the few remaining quaint little beach cottage lots throughout town.

Bye Bye Encinitas and hello PB North. Its time to make some big time rent money off you fools!!!

Six to ten luxury apartments 3+ stories coming as your neighbor and stealing your sun and view. Bye Bye suckers!! Hello more money in the party freezone!!!

  2. I am guessing that MG wrote the letter for Kranz since Kranz can't write. MG supports these two bills, but that never stops him from switching sides on issues if he thinks that conflicting positions will benefit him.

  4. There is no way Kranz wrote that letter, nor did he do the homework to learn anything about this law. You don't go from floundering around to suddenly informed.

This bill has been debated hotly since the beginning of the year. Where was Kranz the past 9 months? He thought he was being slick with his letter, instead he comes across creepier than ever.

  5. Even a faux objection to the bills, however late, is progress of sorts. At least it shows that he recognizes the issue is important to his potential voters.

    1. your mistake, 11:27 is thinking he recognizes anything other than that the public has been putting pressure on the council to take action and he wants the mayoral seat in 2022.

your mistake, 11:27, is to think once elected, Kranz is going to even remember he ever opposed these bills. exactly what "progress" does Kranz represent??

      Delete
    2. another mistake, 11:27, is thinking that the voters will suddenly take lying Kranz at his word.

you make a lot of mistakes, 11:27.

    2. 1:58 merely stated a fact.

      Delete
    3. You can state it all day, but it's a fact that serves only to embarrass Kranz. Kinda like Blakespear touting her 85% win over the guy with the dog, a win that should have been closer to 100%.

If Kranz thinks he's going to win points with this weak attempt to locate his spine, he's got another think coming.

      Delete
    4. Kranz was the only council member who came out against SB9 and SB10. That doesn't acquit him. It's simply a fact.

      Delete
    5. He's late on purpose so it's meaningless. And that's the only fact that counts.

What is your point in posting how he arrived too late to the party? To out him, or to hope you can help him slime his way into the mayor's seat next year? Pick one. Hint: repeating "that's a fact" doesn't count.

    6. What about August 13 is too late? Newsom signed the bills into law in mid-September.

    7. And folks have been asking Kranz and the rest of the blank stares on the dais to fight since January. Big whoop he wrote a letter days before a vote. He needs you - whoever you are - to tell us about it? Where was his leadership loud and proud on council?

Kranz is your pick. Own it.

    10. 11:38 Kranz is not 11:07's pick. Aug 13 is more than a month before Newsom signed the bills into law. That's not "days before." There's more to Kranz's action than your tunnel vision sees.

    11. Kranz's letter to Lorena Gonzalez: Aug 13
Assembly vote on SB 10: Aug 23
Assembly vote on SB 9: Aug 26

Gonzalez voted yes, Tasha voted no. In the Senate, Bates voted no.

Newsom signed both bills into law on Sep 16.

  12. Every other CA coastal city that cared about its charactor opposed SB9 and SB10.

Julie Thunder spoke during public comments and many submitted letters requesting our City Council oppose SB9 and SB10.

Kranz didn't do anything to oppose these horrible bills. All he needed to do was to make a motion for the City Council to add to its next agenda and they could have discussed its dissaster impacts.

But Kranz did not do shit again when it matters. Just like all our other City Councils. They just follow BIAspears lead to developers hell.

Cardiff get a quiet zone, grade seperated crossings, and a nice scenic trail along their railroad.

Leucadia get 50% more trainhorms from the empty diesel burning pollution death machines, a parking lot for homeless and other trailers and shit to collect, and mega signs that blight the whole area and no one reads because they are senseless.
