Rally at Olivenhain Town Hall tomorrow against 6-story apartment complex

 Encinitas Residents for Responsible Development:

Rally on Saturday October 9: Please attend a rally to draw attention to the potential harm the proposed project would do to wildfire evacuation, traffic, the environment, and our rural community. The rally will be hosted by Encinitas RRD on Saturday October 9th from 10am to 12noon at the Olivenhain Town Hall.

  1. You won't see anyone from the Encinitas City Council there to support you. They're not hanging their heads in shame over what they have created. They are proud of it. Of course, they still trying to figure out how to defend their actions regarding the two low income units sold in Olivenhain to multi-millionaires. The Federal Government might bring them down. That's doubtful based on what I've seen so far from this administration. They too want to see suburbs destroyed in the name of equity.
I applaud you for what you are doing. Fight the corrupt developers and the equally corrupt City Council that take their money.
Make them eat shit, not cake.

  2. The City rezoned the parcels from horse property to GHETTO ZONING. The history of Olivenhain means nothing to them, sadly. Let's see if they do the right thing and vote this down.

  3. Ahhh. Its time for some mice apartment's well deserved and tons of affordable housing and some should be reserved for the afghans, Syrianrefugees, and other homeless from all over CA.

All you Olivenhain residents that laid back and watched as Leucadia got hammered will now know the pain you put in place by voting for the ignorant nonlocal carpetbagger Mosca.

My god you Olivenhain folks are idiots. Almost as stupid as Leucadians for putting Tony (duh...Newsom is a great Gov and I love taking orders from BIAspear) Kranz in office.

Actions have consequences and now you get to pay the price of of voting for Mosca.... Ah Haaaaa haaa ahaaa haaaa. Nice going. Waite until you hear all the plants.... I am a local and I need an affordable place to live, please take care of me.... where will my kids live? what about the worlds homeless? Ah haa haaa haa aw... so good!

You better throw some vaseline back there and enjoy the ride.

  4. Is Gonzalez working with Goodson anyone know? Or "just advising" through back channels?

    1. I've not been shy about my opposition to this project since it was first made public. I don't agree with the bait-and-switch that occurred to get this site in the R-30 overlay, and would not represent or advise anyone who treats a community this way. Compare this project (totally maxed out) to Fox Point Farms (approximately 1/2 of the potential maximum density).

  6. Time for an Olivenhain transit center
    Buses to the coaster
Crank it up to a 20 story building for all I care.

Horse people are the worst flavor of Encinitas NIMBYs.

  7. I agree 9:16. You are spot on.

I think 50 stories built around a transit hub would be perfect with a trolley going to the coast and plenty of apartments for the Olivenhain current and future homeless "neighbors" (they love that word, like "smart" growth) and our kids and all of So CA homeless for that matter. Think of the nice view we would be giving to help with our equity issues. We really need to work on bring more homeless refugees to Encinitas. As we know the Mayor's talk is cheap and her actions are racist. To cap it off we can put a flashing neon sign on all four sides of the top - "Encinitas - Home of the Homeless"!

    Lets Gooooooo!

  8. Look at the staff's recommendation for the Goodson agenda item at Oct 13's council meeting.

    ReplyDelete

    1. The City Council better approve it. Its 20% affordable housing. My kids and teachers need a place to live! They already approved the upzoning so if they do not, not only will the developer win all the costs of his developmentin court and the tax payers will end up paying millions to build the units and millions to teach other Cities not to interfere with developers efforts to provide affordable units.

Hey City Council you already shit on Leucadia, now take a big fat hot steamy dumb on Olivenhain. I think they will actually like it once its built. After all, our whitest of whites BIAspear knows what is best for you anyway.

      Delete
  9. What about the agenda item are we supposed to look at 12:08. Cryptic posts don't help anyeone.

On another topic Gonzalez wrote referring to another law firm "any attorney who works in politics knows this firm (and this particular attorney) very well. They’re the classic guns for hire. What does he think his rep is??

Gonzo's muzzle must've loosened and he's doubling down on giving Coast Law a bad name. Just can't help himself can he. Liability if you ask me. Just ask SK.

    1. Well, gee whiz, 4:05, the agenda item about the Goodson project. Isn't that obvious?

      Delete
    2. Not with 24 attachments it isn't obvious. Gee 7:47, maybe you can save the rest of us reading through 100s of pages and tell us what 12:08 wants us to divine from staff's recommendations? Since it's so obvious to you?

      Delete
    3. 1:57 Are you not familiar with the city's website and the meeting agendas they post on it? It's item 10A and the staff's recommendation starts at the bold subhead above the blue links.

Dumbshits like you should get out of the habit of speaking condescendingly to others.

      Delete
    4. Wow that wound you up fast 4:13. You sound like Tony Kranz, in fact. Just like him.

Still don't get the point 12:08 was trying to make. What about staff's recommendations are so remarkable?

Really Kranz, you need a break and several deep breaths and we need a break from you.

      Delete
    5. 4:13 is not Kranz, and 4:53 must be really dense. How many times in, say, the past 10 years has the staff recommended NOT approving a big development project? And in that 10 years, how many times has the council NOT followed the staff's recommendation?

What's remarkable is the Goodson monster project is very likely dead.

      Delete
    6. 7:04 - Whats remarkable is how much Encinitas pays out in payouts to law-suites. There should be an agenda Item on this subject.

What I do know is if Encinitas does not approve this good project with 20% affordable housing, BIAspear is showing even more she is a hypocrite and the City will get its ass sued off and the developer will need to wait in line behind the millions of payouts of all the other lost lawsuits.

Man- Our City is the worst in North County. Can we please get annexed by Solana Beach or Carlsbad?

Our City Council members are not thinking with nearly all cylinders firing if you get my drift.

      Delete
    7. 7:04 just fell off the turnip truck. Staff's recommendations will pale next to Goodson's attorney's legal threats. Olivenhain peeps don't stand a chance. Mosca will pretend struggle with his conscience before voting with the mayor to approve. The state told the council approve or else who they gonna go with, pathetic staff or the state?

Staff never says don't approve but it won't make no nevermind here. Their recommendation is all for show to make it look like the city cares. 7:04 got sucked in by appearances, how embarrassing.

      Delete
    8. The council directs the staff beforehand, then votes according to the predetermined recommendation. IOW, the council confirms its own decision. The only approval is the lot consolidation. Goodson will have to come up with a different project on the consolidated lots to get approval. No council member hoping to get reelected would approve the current monster. ERRD did a great job — congratulations!

  11. Oh hell yes bottom feeder-

You can count on it. BIAspear is hellbent on two thinks more upzoning and more homeless in Encinitas. All else be dammed, BIAspear's mission is to turn Encinitas into PB North and she is gaining momentum big-time.

Encinitas used to be known as Flower Capital of the World. BIAspear's proposal is to have it known as the Homeless Capital of the World.

    ReplyDelete
  12. City Council better approve this and make it 10 stories minimum.

We need places for my kids, teachers, fireman, and union workers, and all the homeless to live.

Don't even think about not approving this you whitest of whites!

You will pay dearly in lawsuits.

  13. The congestion, if built, will be the worst possible. There are schools, day care, doctor and dentist offices.
If these people vote for the construction of the monstrosity, that entire area will be hell. I pray they do the right thing.

    1. It'll be built.

    2. They already approved the upzone and it is bullshit. You that voted for BIAspear caused this mess.

Now the developer has the law on his side and can build at will. If the City does not approve it, it is just throwing away tax dollars because he will easily win in court.

You better pray or better yet pay to the right people afterall is all about $$$BIA$pear$$$ moving on out of Encinitas politics after she destroyed our town and she is on to helping Newsom sink CA.

Congestion is not an issue anymore. BIAspear saids this lot is perfect because people can take the bus and its only a short ebike ride to the train station so you do not even need a car to live in this great affordable complex.

They up-zoned it and they have the state laws behind them to build it which trumps local laws. All you that voted for BIAspear, Mosca, Kranz and Hinze sank us so don't even mention congestion, crowds, or pack beaches again. You all suck for destroying Encinitas.

  14. There is another apartment monstrosity planned where Sunshine Gardens currently is. It will add over 100 units in an area already massively congested at peak hours. Traffic is no longer considered in construction approval; the future complex will have to have traffic signals synced just to get the residents out of the parking areas. It'll take 45 minutes (or more) to go 2 blocks. This City Planning Department and all the others involved that approve this mess are on the developers' dole.

    1. The council approved more than 600 units all told for that corner. If you voted for these bought off wingnuts, enjoy. These plans have been final since early 2020. This is what you asked for. Complaining now? Sit back down and STFU.

California District 36 Senate Race Rumored to Be Heating Up

The June primary is eight months away, and the November general election is more than a year from now. The field of candidates is rumored to be filling out.

First to announce was Carlsbad City Council Member Priya Bhat-Patel. Sadly for vocal local Democrats, she dropped out months later.

Next to announce was Encinitas Mayor Catherine Blakespear. Sadly for some vocal local Democrats, the controversial Blakespear is hanging in there.

Apparently not wanting to yield the seat without a fight, Orange County Supervisor Lisa Bartlett, the stealth Republican candidate, is poised to jump in.

Blakespear, as mayor of Encinitas and chair of SANDAG, and Bartlett, as former mayor of Dana Point and current county supervisor, have comparable résumés.

Blakespear is the Democratic Party’s anointed one. Her list of endorsements by fellow Democratic politicians is as long as your left arm.

Bartlett holds the county supervisorial seat formerly held by Republican Pat Bates, who is the current but termed-out senator in District 36. It seems a safe assumption that Bates will back Bartlett when and if she declares her candidacy. Bartlett endorsed Larry Elder during the September attempt to recall Governor Gavin Newsom, so there’s that.

Assuming that Bartlett runs, unless other formidable candidates appear before the June primary, Blakespear and Bartlett will take the two spots on the ballot and go head to head in November 2022.

As of February 10, 2021, there were 620,236 registered voters in the district. Of those, 34.18% were Democrats, 35.57% were Republicans, and the remainder were independent or scattered among other parties.

The redistricting that will precede the primary election is not expected to change the district’s statistics much. In 2018, incumbent Bates kept the seat by a 3% margin.

At post time, it looks like a tight race next year.

  21. So how are folks feeling the vote will go tomorrow night?

Mosca has to vote NO or give up running for mayor in 2022
Kranz has to vote NO to keep up with Mosca when he runs for mayor in 2022
Blakespear will vote YES, citing state law and her supposed wish to prevent a costly lawsuit from the developer
Hinze will be visibly bored out of her skull until it's time for her to vote with the mayor
Joy will look like a scared, clueless rabbit until it's time for her to vote with the mayor.

    1. It'll be 5-0 to uphold the staff recommendation. Unfortunately, that will keep the lot consolidation, which is the fundamental problem. The council shouldn't have allowed it in the first place. With it, Goodson can propose an altered monstrosity on the same group of lots.

      Delete
    2. The lot consolidation is the sleeper here. It will absolutely invite a much larger project. Your average person hears the words "lot consolidation" or "parcel lot line adjustment" and glaze over.

This is the point of the appeal though and if ever there was a council that will glaze over, it's this one.

      Delete
  22. Even these council members can't be dumb enough to not know they won't be elected or reelected to anything if they approve the Goodson monstrosity.

    1. 11:18 they CAN be that dumb. Led by Blakespear, they will think repeating "it's the law" will get them off the hook tonight and in 2022.

Andy why shouldn't they use it? It's worked for Blakespear with the masses so far. Now she's got Mali repeating after her. She even cries "why do you want to harm Catherine?" all over social media. It's pretty weird.

  23. 11:18- Spoken like a true entitled Olivenhain elitist.

Oh its coming. This is one small step before its shoved up your behind like it was for Leucadia and you did nothing.

Well enjoy it Olivenhain because we need to build affordable housing in your neighborhood too to house the teachers, firemen (joke- they make between 150k to 200k), union workers and your homeless neighbors (from around the world).

    Brought to you by BIAspear.
