  4. Welcome to Encinitas Dr. Ward. Your first testimony at council, and you get slimed by Marco Gonzalez who likes to call out the disingenuous. I wonder who paid him to show up?

    1. Superintendent shows up to push hyperbole and unsupported tropes about homeless and criminality, supposedly based upon her experience at the E3 school downtown, but doesn't have the intellectual honesty to compare apples to apples... yeah, I called her out because her testimony was total bullshit. And FTR, I spoke as a citizen; no client or funds involved.

    2. Marco how did you know she was going to speak? Or did the mayor have you ready in the wings in case anyone said anything that calls her infinite wisdom into question? Just so odd that you would show up for this one.

Guess now you and she can run around calling the appellants "haters." That's your thing, right?

      Delete
    3. I had no idea she was going to speak, but her comments warranted rebuttal. I've been an advocate for the safe parking lots since the beginning. Nothing odd about it.

    4. Really? Because you were not seen until last night. Mayor made the damsel in distress phone call, right?

  5. Mayor loses control of public, sheriff side show, senate run collapsing in real time!

  6. If she approves this, it is just a matter of time until something horrible happens, and I hope her campaign goes down. Too bad that people always end up getting hurt because of her political ambitions.

  7. As the attorney for the city brings up, Encinitas is the only North County City that will consider this project. What do they know that our own city council doesn't know?

    ReplyDelete
  8. Mayor is in denial about attracting crime. Severe denial. Looks like more litigation for our city and more tax payer dollars wasted.

    1. Great. Another lawsuit.

    2. Because the filing of a lawsuit means what exactly? That NC3/Watchdog suit sure had a huge impact...

    3. Unnecessary litigation costs lodged against the City.

  9. Was the reason that Marco presented tonight because he is applying for the job of City Attorney? After what we have seen this past couple of years, nothing is impossible. Maybe he is auditioning for a job in case the City is sued over the parking lot.

    1. I have no desire to be a city attorney. And did you all notice that the NC3 suit hyped up by all the NIMBYs as sure to overturn the Leichtag parking lot approvals was dismissed earlier this week (just as some of us said it would)? Frankly, I'm just surprised Julie didn't wag her finger at the council and announce her candidacy last night...

      Delete
    2. So now you're linking the appellant to your nemesis at nc3 using your birds of a feather argument? Sounds like libel SK should know about.

      Delete
    3. Good thing you have no desire because the opposition to that appointment would be deafening.

      Delete
    4. 12:10 - I'm linking two things: the appellant using the same attorney as NC3/Watchdog, and the fallacy of claiming that just because the city gets sued by NIMBYs or dipshits means they did anything illegal. (we'll have to wait and see if that fair housing suit fails as spectacularly as the claims re the prior safe parking site)

      Delete
    5. And I'm thinking you're committing libel and the appellants will not be happy about it. See your problem is you can't make your point without ad hominem attacks. It's just who you are. Same as your sister. Potty mouthed libelers and slanderers. What a household to have produced two of the same.

      Delete
    6. Bet SK won't be happy to hear - again. Maybe Grover will take you in, Gonzalez.

  10. Gonzalez probably spoke to help the helpless mayor. If so was he paid with taxpayer money? Was he given permission by his management to speak or was this done without an ok? Hmmmm.

  11. Marco: I deny your evidence as anecdotal, while i provide my anecdotal evidence as proof.

9 out of 10 cycle-track accidents were user error, besides being an a-hole thing to say, where does he pull that out of. I wonder which accident the fatal incident on Leucadia Blvd falls into, user error or city error.

Here's hoping they measure incidents and accidents over that stretch, but doubting it will happen because without real numbers its easier to gaslight the community on our way to Sacramento.

    1. He pulls it out of the mayor's many delusional responses to injured riders. Blakespear and Gonzalez live in a weird world where you blame the victim rather than fix the problem.

Go to the "Encinitas: PLEASE Restore Safety In Cardiff" Facebook page that was established specifically in reaction to the dangerous Cardiff Cycle Trap: https://www.facebook.com/groups/556935515245051. You can find a detailed list of the accidents including date, time, and type of injury. More than 1,000 members in agreement there's a huge danger with the Cycle Trap vs. the mayor's insistence that it's an "improvement."

There is little doubt that Gonzalez was called in last night to once again come to the mayor's rescue. How much were taxpayers on the hook for his little perfomance?

      Delete
    2. Whatever. My 13 year old can regularly manage the "cycle trap" with heavy ebike and surfboard (since its inception), but "experienced" cyclists are put off by a streetside curb and bollards? User error, every time.

    4. Blakespear is facing a failed leadership crisis at both SANDAG and Encinitas council at the same time. She seems befuddled by both the mileage/congestion tax and the future of Pacific View. She's rapidly flipping her opinion exactly as she did on the Cardiff Rail Trail. Then she lies about her earlier opinions. Not likely that Marquito can save her from her impulsiveness and incompetence.

    5. Marco, not only is your comment about your own kid stupid, but it is in unusually bad taste even for you considering that Jennings Worley was killed last year on account of the bollard placements by city engineers. You and CB are in the same league as Trump in terms of the lack of respect for human life and your inability to listen.

    6. My comments are specific to the south Cardiff cycle track. I have yet to opine regarding the Leucadia Blvd. incident.

  14. My favorite part -

They did the old ---lets put the biggest liability issue on the latest agenda item ( City Managers smart, she's absent)

Staff proposes major changes to a road without any public vetting. Traffic Commission opposes based problems with safety, the State Parks opposes because of safety concerns, and what does BIA do- puts out the call for help via to all her constituents to her for higher office.

The highly F up item had 4 speakers, One veteran bicyclist opposed it, one newby fly boy from SD Ped/Bike state stats and used bike appeal to support the project without knowing anything about the real concerns about Vehicle/Peds. Marco is Marco and suck ass up to BIA, there were a few other BIA supporters. What was absent was all those Cardiff true bicyclists. My guess is they have had it with BIA. Let the lawsuits fly.

$11 million down from Roberta Walker.

$___ million to Stephanie Berger, 29,

$ _____ Million to According to Worley’s obituary, his loved ones remembered “every decision in his life, small or large, was fueled by his intense devotion and passion for all things he loved,” inspiring a lifelong career in medical research, culminating in a team responsible for breakthrough medications treating cystic fibrosis.

“We’re North America’s cycling capital with our incredible climate and we have a mobility-driven City Council. Why can’t we do better? Why can’t we get this right?” Thompson said to the Coast News.

“The death of our friend has inspired us to bolster our activism and urge the city to finally hire a true mobility, active transportation expert on the city staff so the city council can put their money where their mouth is and achieve their noteworthy and critical strategy and goals of mobility and mode-shift,”

So now we have more half baked street design without any public reviews and BIA is ready to launch it.

God bless for the future victims of BIAs decision. She has Dr Jennings blood on her soul and here comes some more deaths due to faulty design.

What does BIA say, Don't let details about death of bicyclist distract you. We are making progress. The more people that die on bikes means more people are bike riding right?

Let carry on and let have more bike deaths and more law-suites. Let's do this!!!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Why were the Sheriff's investigation details and settlement agreements concealed from the public? There was no transparency and allegations that witness statements were suppressed regarding fault. Did insurance cover the settlement or was it all tax money or combinations of both?

  19. One of the best lines of the night was when Joe Mosca challenged the City Manager to come up with $8 million for Pacific View. He said that maybe they could give her a bonus, to which I heard her giggling in glee. We should do what her former employers did and pay her to leave! She already has a horrible work record and is making over $300,000. She makes Gus Vina look good, and that is saying something for how much he screwed over residents with his income revenue bonds for Pacific View and his loss of the ball field to the YMCA.

    1. Kind of like when Tom Cozens with his weirdly permanent smirk told Kranz he was for hire as a "facilitator" and Kranz indicated he would be up for the city spending money on Cozens?

These people view the council as their own private playground. But you know put a "D" behind their names and the majority here will wet itself voting against its own best interests.

Watch for Gonzalez and his smearwagon sliming down your street in 2022. Heck he started the other night. Between him and his troll brigade: Zenick, Simokat, Steinberg, and "Tiffany Fox" not to mention Mali and her E4E smokescreen, they've got the kneejerkers nicely covered.

Conversely, we are unlucky to have you in our community.

  24. Most people who hold PhD degrees don't flaunt them by calling themselves "Dr." Those who do are trying to attract attention and assign themselves authority they don't necessarily have.

Maybe "Dr. Lorri" is respected by her peers in psychology and some of her former patients. But that's where her legitimacy as an authority stops.

She's surprisingly naive concerning much about Encinitas politics. She whines a lot about personal things. She brags about how many members EV has, yet only the same approximately 30 people post comments.

Take her with more than one grain of salt.

Like I said, I don't mind Lorri, I just would just appreciate more of the facts. I went to her FB page which is open to the public which is good. It reads well and informs the public of current happenings.

Carry on and lets get some good city council in place.

    9. The claims of "white supremacy" and "white privilege" are actually racist terminology. These are analogous to the "N" word for blacks. 26. Don't get me started with Ms. BIAspear-Gonzalez, she is a complete piece of work. Now she trying to brown up her surroundings besides her servants. Let's just say a dip in the old pond shall we.

Our whitest of whites Princess BIAspear. Raised in the whitest of Cardiff's neighborhoods and then journeyed to the heart of puritan whiteness, Salt Lake City Utah, to find her perfectly white husband who would take orders from not only her but her amazingly white mommy while living under their wing for the rest of his life.

The BIAspears had the support to live anywhere with much more diversity and culture, but where did they choose to live and raise their kids? You guessed it, a neighborhood with 100% pure anglo-saxon blood line with whiff's of bleeding heart jews on neighboring streets.

What was their first step? To move in to Mommy's compound on the whitest street in Cardiff where they talk to all their white friends about how terrible it is that people did not mix and have multicultural family, friends, schoolmate, and working mates. All while their brown landscapers, maids, and other servants cared for all their compounds needs.

Do you think by calling everyone a racist, you do not need to live your life any different? You should look within and consider your actions. Consider our whitest of whites Mayor. She screams racist every-time someone farts, but then lives her live just a white racist privileged hypocrite.

BIA could place many ADUs throughout her property and neighboring streets and set the rent at super affordable rates and promote diverse tenants.

    Does she?

No. All I have seen from her is hypocritical behavior?

How was that City maskless gathering at the super swankie Alela Marea?

Mayor chose to have it at an elite confined area instead of an open area like our Community Center or other large outdoor venues.

She promotes homelessness and does nothing to help it. She welcomes a parking lot on the E3 property and then slams it next to a school without any community input because the Rich Liechtag bleeding hearts, that enjoy all that money made in the pharma business, said they did not want it on their property after one year. Hmmm - not sure about how great that is, but thats another story.

    Essential Meaning of hypocrite
disapproving : a person who claims or pretends to have certain beliefs about what is right but who behaves in a way that disagrees with those beliefs
the hypocrites who criticize other people for not voting but who don't always vote themselves

  27. Liechtag had an alternate agenda with the temporary placement of the homeless parking lot. They are in the slow process of removing an agriculture zoning covenant from the property in question. Now that a variance in use has occurred with the homeless encampment, they have rationale to try to legally erode the restricted agricultural use covenant. Ecke agreed to put this land in the restricted covenant in perpetuity for being allowed to develop hundreds of undeveloped acres of his land into urban/commercial use. Then years later, he tried to welch on the deal and claimed economic hardship if he could not develop that also. It went to the voters and in spite of his spending a fortune in political hype, he was resoundingly denied to change the covenant by the local voters. He then sold it to Leichtag, who sees it as a longer term investment, with time to turn its zoning into a more lucrative investment; ie, high density housing and commercial use. So Leichtag did NOT allow the use of the land out of the goodness of their heart, but solely out of the potential immense benefit to their pocket book! CHA CHING$$$$

PS: Blakespear undoubtedly has Leichtag contributing to her political future...

  29. All too true on Liechstag's motivation to provide a space on their ag in perpetuity property.

The quarter of a million$ has some bearing in the equation also.

They got their money's worth on that alone. How much it cost them to implement the safe parking lot is a pittance.

The amount of that 'gift' and how much actually made it to those most in need was 5%.

Pretty good deal for them either way.

From years ago, a need for a forensic accounting of our city's spending has gone nowhere.

When it does with a new majority, look out. The 'stuff' will hit the fan. Big time.

    Some delayed sunshine is needed.
