Stabbing at downtown bar

 Encinitas Advocate:

Two men were stabbed in Encinitas late Saturday night, Feb. 19, a sheriff’s official said.

Deputies responded to a bar on South Coast Highway, south of E Street, to a reported stabbing just before midnight, Lt. Chris Galve said.

The deputies provided first aid, and paramedics took at least one of the victims to a hospital, Gavle said.

Bar patrons had detained the suspected assailant, and deputies took him into custody.

That’s the block of Biergarten and 1st Street Bar. Online commenters are saying it was 1st Street.

  4. That is vibrancy for you.

The blame rests on a sold out council with their always willing sold out planning dept. seniors leading the way.

Welcome to bar town north county.

I will always respect and sympathize with the group of downtown residents who organized and tried to prevent and protect our once special downtown from the PB bar owners 'style' of degradation.

  5. Of course, Marco represents the bar owners with all their dark sided maneuvers to make profit off bar activities. We have to remember - Marco is an attorney and attorney's do and say anything to make a buck. Forget about that bar patrons have a higher change of public health diseases than non bar patrons and drunk bar patrons have a much higher propensity for throwing cigarette butts on the ground that wind up in our mother ocean.

Do BIAspear, Mali or Marco care? NOT today! It doesn't fit with their narrative to have a Vibrant (drunk, tweaked, and stoned date raped) Downtown.

How do you know when an attorney is lying?

  7. Wow. The Facebook page run by Blakespear's biggest supporters and former campaign managers shuts down within 2 weeks of Mali's toxic, out-of-control behavior being called out at a Council meeting - twice. Coincidence?

  8. Blakespear's gross incompetence and cronyism is on full display as her tenure as Mayor limps and hobbles on to its finale. she hopes to hop the State Senate gravy train, where she can perfect her lopsided and inappropriate policy concepts. Is Speedy Gonzales in the jump seat too? They both smell more possibilities to sell out.

  9. Verdu still has Encinitas Now Facebook page and any other(s) he cares to resurrect/create when the time comes. He's not going to sit by and "watch 2022 from the sidelines" as claimed. No way. Any threats to Catherine or Mali and he'll be back more vicious than ever. He has no right to anyone's trust.

    1. Verdu is not behind Encinitas Now. And after the public lashing the Verdus have received during the mayoral election and beyond, can you blame them for wanting to step away?

      Delete
    2. I can blame them for causing the public lashing because they brought it on themselves. They never owned up, using the passive "sorry this happened" not "sorry we did this." I can blame them for leaving up Mali's toxic posts for days, then taking credit for taking them down. I can blame them for seeing the light not because they know they did wrong, but because their platform backfired, they made themselves neighborhood pariahs and that doesn't feel tood to them. That's the only reason he's stepping away.

As far as Encinitas Now: it walks like a duck and quacks like one, too. He also had Encinitas Forward but that recently disappeared.

  10. you act like they are evil villains in a comic book. I think EP really did try to be fair. They deleted Omed's comments about Cindy Cremona and they urged people not to be personal about Julie Thunder and stick to the issues... give them a break, it probably became very stressful. Let them walk away. I am not a fan of theirs and I hate PACs, but the good bye posts they all put on EP were pretty open and feel genuine.

    1. Deleted Omed/Mali/Marco DAYS after they'd been posted. Doesn't count dude. There is nothing genuine about Verdu if you followed him two years ago he alternated between encouraging the most disgusting vitriol then acting disturbed by it. Why not take the site down today if he's so sincere? Why the extra month for the It couple to have access to his outlet?

      Delete
    3. Uh huh. The Verdus were much more than "slanted left." They were the willing vehicle for every lie, innuendo, and toxic claim that Gonzalez, Omed, and Mali could make. Throw in Zenick and Fox for good measure.

The Verdus were gleeful in their perceived role as kingmakers. They created their site for the sole purpose of keeping Queen Catherine and her council attendants in place.

Now no one decent will have anything to do with them and they feel sad? Karma, baby, karma.

    2. Encinitas Politics was a small group (less than 400 people) made mostly of Blakespear and developer fans who got kicked of Encinitas Votes for being assholes. They had a beyond self-important attitude and were the definition of an echo chamber. Encinitas Votes and Watchdogs are not in the same category. Watchdogs is mostly Trumper anti-vaxers who all agree with each other. Votes is a discussion forum where people actually disagree and debate.

      Delete
    3. So you are obviously an EV member 1:20. It is absolutely not simply a place where people actually disagree and debate.

I joined EV during the mayoral election because I wanted to learn about both candidates. I came to the group as a blank slate with an open mind. As I read through the threads, I was shocked by the ugliness in tone from both sides. Maybe you don't notice it when you're always in it.

So I posted my first comment and said I came here to learn, but am surprised by the tone. That's all I said. I'm surprised by the tone. No inclination about who I may be for or against (because I wasn't for or against anyone yet!)

My comment was answered by Pam Slater Price, who immediately said "Go back to your mothership, Blakespearbot" and Steve Houbeck who accused me of being a fake acct because my friends list is private.

Really? No one welcomed me to the group, nor defended me. I, who did not even vote for Blakespear, was called a Blakespearbot because I was overwhelmed by the negative tone.

The way Pam answered me PROVES the negative tone. The way longtime members say really vicious things all the time and Lorri Greene ignores it because they've gotten to know each other through the group is a huge problem.. There is little to no moderation in that group. No one ever says "you're making a good point, but can you do it without the ad hominem?" The moderators themselves have made inappropriate remarks about council members, the mayors family, and private citizens. Lorri truly believes this is a "space for everyone", but Lorri, you've let so much slide that I have to tell you "everyone" does not feel welcome, and everyone does not feel safe sharing their point of view.

You know what I noticed about Encinitas Politics? Read through their threads very carefully. When they had to step in and moderate, their language was very neutral. Lorri can not say the same.

    4. "Go back to your mothership, Blakespearbot"

She most definitely has a good sense of humor.

Good grief you just may be a bot and not know it based on the words you have written.

Best advice would be to work on improving your mindset, regroup your brain, focus on the solutions and not the problems, and become open and transparent (not necessarily here like Marco does) but definitely on fakebook and screwtube.

      Cheers alfi

    5. Pam Slater's toxicity is matched only by her irrelevancy. It's comical that the Encinitas Votes crowd thinks the greater voting public cares what they say on their hate blog.

      Delete
    6. Pam Slater Price's behavior on social media opened my eyes. I voted for her and supported her and now she insults people and belittles them, she uses childish names instead of addressing issues. She has no idea how that behavior has actually hurt the people and causes she wants to support.

The way she,Bob Nichols (AKA Jason Michelski), Rachel Graves and crew behaved over and over again on social media did way more to hurt Thunder and Turney's campaign than the Verdus ever could. Instead of being reactive and defensive to that idea, just take a step back and CONSIDER that it might be true. Then adjust how you campaign for those trying to unseat incumbents and you might actually succeed. What could it hurt?

    1. Different points of view does not explain the Verdus' complicity in vile attacks and trail of slime. Not even Stocks acted as they did and that's going some.

      Delete
    2. There's slime all around. Jeff Morris created slime that benefitted Julie Thunder and she pretended she didn't know about it. They all attacked Blakespear because PACs supported her, while ignoring the PACs that tried to get them in and the incumbents out. Protesting outside the mayor's house isn't slimy? Stalking and taking photos of homeless isn't slimy? Jeff Morris harassing and posting photos of private citizens only because they support a safe lot isn't slimy? Making money off of concrete while pretending you're against development isn't slimy?

Also, you know you can use the search function in groups, right? CHatfield shared mayor posts a year ago? Gonzalez is kind of active there, though. No Verdus. Not a lot of activity. Look, I'm not a supporter of PACs or the ads the Verdus sent out, but reading through Encinitas Now and Encinitas Politics, there's not much to see to get outraged about. Encinitas Now pushing restaurants and local feel-good stories is not a Verdu/Trojan Horse threat. You are all too quick to jump to a conspiracy mindset.

    1. Nope, just watching your snide comments on Encinitas Politics and Votes for months now. No need to invoke Watchdogs, your nasty comments are all yours to own. Even as Verdu is making his fake apology and everyone having a lovefest you just can't help yourself "It's too bad we'll all have to listen to the same 10-15 voices that supposedly represent Encinitas online now." You are a toxic woman, own it.

      Delete
    2. You shouldn't focus so much on me; that's the toxic element. I'm just a person commenting like everyone else. I meant what I wrote there, so sick of reading the same people posting the same shit over and over, wherever they can. You're welcome to disagree, but at least EP made an effort to include people that don't feel the same as what EV and Watchdogs have to offer. And I will call out Watchdogs specifically, because they have issues with stalking and intimidating people that disagree with them.

      Delete
    3. 2:19 Does it occur to you that saying "You are a toxic woman, own it." Is itself toxic?

She expresses her opinion online. So do you. Who cares? You're not exactly holding back and being super polite here.

So why is she toxic and you aren't? What's the difference?

      Delete
    4. 2:30 This is how it works in Encinitas, apparently. If you're an asshole all day everyday online but hate our mayor and council, you're justified. If you have any other opinion, you're toxic. Especially for women, apparently (based on the attacks I've seen).

      Delete
    5. No, it doesn't occur to me. Verdu having a lovefest and Zenick just has to stick her knife in. She can act above it all but that remark is typical and shows just how thin her veneer of civility really is. There is literally nothing that Mali could do wrong in her eyes that speaks volumes.

      Delete
    6. 2:42, you're incorrect. I started paying attention to Encinitas politics during the last election. I didn't seek out people to defend, I saw people online that I agreed with on issues. With Mali, I felt an orchestrated attack on someone that hasn't done worse than offend a few people was creepy and totally out of line. If it happened to someone with different political views, I'd do the same. A group ganging up on a single person is bad, no matter how they align politically.

      Delete
    7. "a few people"? Mali has offended thousands if not tens of thousands of people on Encinitas Votes, Encinitas Politics, Encinitas Now, and NextDoor. In addition to calling all 1500+ members of Encinitas Votes racist, she's told people who support Prop A (which won by a vote of the people, by the way - so, tens of thousands) that they are wrong and outdated. And she's accused all white people in Encinitas of blindly suffering from white privilege. So yeah, she's offended more than "a few" people. Her loud and aggressive words come across as ageist, racist, and mean-spirited. (The stuff on Watchdogs is out of line, but that's a fringe group that doesn't represent most of Encinitas residents.) Recent attacks weren't orchestrated - she just managed to piss off a critical mass of people who are tired of her antics.

      Delete
  16. 2:42 you're making a lot of assumptions. And, I get it, this is how you feel and you think you're right.

You see her comment as "sticking a knife in", but others may not read it that way. She's just sharing how she sees it just like you are. So, somehow, you're justified in attacking her, but she's not justified in anything she says?

And how do you know that Mali could do no wrong in her eyes? That's a pretty big assumption. You can't know that. You can only assume that.

This kind of rhetoric is TOXIC. Assuming people's feelings and motivations is dangerous. You are creating a narrative that might not be true and you won't budge from it.

I see people hating the mayor and that spills into anyone who agrees with any position the mayor holds.

It's completely wrong to treat people as evil just because they disagree.

Calling her toxic while you yourself feel justified in behaving in toxic ways is such a double standard.
