  2. Hiring Peder Norby back again to suck on our city? WTF?

His handling of the publics concern years ago should be a disqualification.

How is this even being considered?

A majority apparently feels they can overlook his past transgressions. What a shit show. Gee thanks, Tony and Mark, and whoever the third decider was.

Once again staff gets the city to pay handsomely for work they should be up to doing themselves. Same old, same old.

  3. OMG, Norby? The dude who lied about the outcome of months of work by Cardiff residents? The guy who encouraged five-story buildings downtown while "facilitating" workshops from a supposedly objective, unbiased position? The very same who pocketed challenging comment cards from the audience and refused to read them? Who pushed hard for streetscape and roundabouts everywhere possible as a "unifying theme" for Encinitas?

Readers, if you value your city: write the Council tonight and tell them no way to Norby. He is here for one reason: to connive to push high density, end of story..

This is a major NO. Let him stay put in Carlsbad where he can cement over every square inch to his heart's content. They seem to like it that way there.

Geez, our city just cannot get it right.

When is the city going to hire a competent city manager ?

    1. Norby gets paid with taxpayer money to whore for the developers, lie to us, and then lie about it. What a great country.
From the city standpoint, none of this has anything to do with affordable housing. It's all about tax revenue.Period..

    2. The city knows exactly what it's doing bringing him back. They know they want, he's all too happy to help, and once again residents are screwed.

Norby is expert at spinning and twisting resident wishes into developer dreams. It's what he's paid to do.

    3. Any possibility of a Dump Norby bumper sticker?

    4. How about a “F-off Crazy Eyed C and KLCC!!”

      That’s more like it

  5. 10:22AM I have the name of a good therapist for your condition: RMM (Repetitive MotorMouth).

  6. I read that the council passed a granny-flat plan. My question is what % of the housing mandate will this satisfy? Otherwise a positive step that the developers will probably sue over. F.U. Mikey.

  7. I wish I could find that clip on You Tube of Norby suggesting 5 stories at a housing meeting at city hall. Then he lied about it.

  9. ***COUNCIL ***
Practice what you preach and place affordable housing in your own property L-7. Otherwise, citizen will call you out as being hypocrites!!!

    1. And worse yet, they'll vote "no" come November. After years of housing plan shenanigans and repeated rejections by voters, you'd think the City would learn.

To the Council: constituents are not as dumb as you hope. It's we who have learned. You've taught us to be suspicious and once again we're watching, so proceed at your own risk.

    2. “Hypocrites”

You keep using this word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

    3. What do you think it means, 5:25? I don't take issue with what 11:55 wrote.

I do see council members pointing away from perfectly good high-density candidate sites in their neighborhoods to assign them elsewhere. Council claims we "all need to share the pain," yet decline to include themselves in the "we." Isn't that hypocritical? What word would you use?

      Questions sincerely meant.

      Examples please.

    5. Let's start with Shaffer's "I'm not saying this just because its across the street from my house, but that site should come off the map."

  10. The city council shouldn't have hired Peder Norby. He has a long history of deceitfulness in the city. It's not only his comment about 4 or 5 stories at the ERAC meeting and then lying about it. He pulled something similar at the Cardiff specific plan meetings. He was hired as the "facilitor," but acted as the promoter of 3 stories in the business area and manipulated the votes of the committee. There was broad community support to preserve views and limit height to 2 stories. Again it was video taped, and he was caught.

There was also his involvement in the purchase of the boat houses as 101 czar (at $100,000 per year) and the Encinitas Preservation Foundation. He never released the financial details, and now the there is a struggle to find money to do expensive needed repair on the boat houses.

    1. Why don't you quick bitching and donate some money whiner.

    2. Who in their right mind would donate to a cause that refuses to disclose its financials?

Your comment is odd, 10:31. Sounds like your sympathies lie with the Ecke crowd.

    3. Is "quick bitching" an Olympic event this year? Is it done on skis or skates?

    4. Thanks for confirming.

  11. Peder Norby has never demonstrated the skills of a facilitator. As mentioned above, he has been paid by the city and has worked for developers as a propagandist.

Council, stop spending our tax dollars on consultants to help out the development community. Encinitas residents should not be made to pay for developers' bad business decisions. It is not our fault if developers can't make their projects "pencil out," even with all of the freebies that are thrown their way.
