City planners coordinated with Surfrider to push Beacon's skyway

From the Inbox:
These were brought up several times again at this past Thursday's Planning Commission meeting. One speaker printed out a set for each Commissioner so they would have hard copies.

After being asked specifically at the first meeting whether there was any prearrangement with Surfrider, Brenda Wisneski stated adamantly there was not. Later in the meeting she was caught out when the attached was shown.

The city in general and Brenda especially have an ongoing difficulty with what it means to be transparent. It's a word they use frequently, but rarely apply.
E-mail exchange between city staff and Surfrider here.

  1. Wisneski has a history of doing things in the dark - or what she thinks is the dark.

Why is she still here? Friends with Brust or not, she should not be protected by the city manager and council. She's bad for city PR and you'd think the council would figure out, even if she's working with their approval, that she's too much of a liability.

  2. "Prearrangement"? I don't see what outrage you are trying to draw from these emails. Looks like input on presentation.

  3. So you have no problem with Chunn-Heer writing Brenda, telling her:

"This is what I think they [residents] need to hear." Then it goes on to say "We heard you!"

What a joke, they didn't - they came back with the same basic design that caused such an uproar in the first place.

Then: "This also allows the people who are disappointed in the alternatives and don't want to talk about the stairs to leave."

That scheme to piss people off and make them want to leave is between Surfrider and the city. The city would then claim there was virtually no opposition to their plan. The agenda followed exactly what Surfrider laid out for the city.

When asked specifically at the beginning of the meeting Brenda assured the audience that Surfrider had had no hand in any of the evening's schedule. All she could manage when confronted with the email string that dictated the agenda the meeting ended up following was "Are you calling me a liar??"

Residents received no "as discussed...." opportunity to give input. Prearrangement, yes.

  4. SS Encinitas is going down with Brenda as Captain. Development Services Department is in shambles and their public service/assistance and timelines are horrible/laughable. Need a new boat with a new captain at the helm.

    1. Brenda is doing exactly what the council wants. They're just so managed by greed interests, they don't know what end is up.

Need a new council. Two years is not that far off.
