Moonlight Plaza on John Oliver show

Rmember local San Diego TV news anchor Graham Ledger? He's now got a show on right-wing news network One America News, which was featured on the progressive comedian John Oliver's TV show... and Encinitas made a cameo appearance around 15:40 of the video below.

  1. I had to look up john oliver as I had not heard of him. I watched the clip. There is a reason I never heard of him. If his goal is to be funny, it isn't working.

    1. He’s not as funny as Graham Ledger—I’ll give you that.

That guy is a fucking riot.

  2. Fun facts about right-wing douche nozzle Graham Ledger: in 2012, he ran for San Dieguito Union High School District, and came in dead last in a four-way field. Also, Ledger was recently on the losing end of a $1.1M judgement for racial discrimination—shocking, right?

    1. Sorry. I was trying to be generous.

He's a partisan polemicist, but some people apparently find him funny.

    2. You're either funny or your not, politics has nothing to do with it.

    1. 4:15 PM Right on! This douche bag epitomizes the crass stupidity of the Trump supporting element. He's lead a pampered lifestyle and refuses to see the realities of the world. He deserves a dose of the Covid19 to smarten him up (if that's possible).

  6. Caution - severe TDS infected posters in this thread. Posters whose lives are so unmistakably miserable they like to project blame on things/people that have absolutely;y no relation to the subject matter.

These people, when born were the unfortunate recipients of having their brain physically distanced from their bodies which is likely why they love and encourage lockdowns and quarantines now and will for the rest of their lives.

    ... sad

  8. ^^ Collusion is real and spying is a hoax - said everyone who watched Moscow Maddow for three years, was proved factually wrong at every turn, yet still believes same.

The only “non-essential” business is the one you didn’t put your heart and sweat into building. Don’t ever forget that. Especially the non-essential politicians, media people, and still employed city/state/govt workers that seem to be everywhere and at every turn harassing, arresting and perpetrating violence against the public THAT ACTUALLY PAYS THEIR SALARIES.

Before the terrified folks that spend their days under theirs desks typing from their moms basements respond I'll do it for you:

All of 10 people have the virus on our city and they are chasing me like boogymen so let's shut down everything until a douchnozzle out of touch billionaire comes up with virus non-vaccine 3 years from now.

The same fool who couldn't even protect his software empire from viruses and you clowns think he's going to save your human body from a virus?

    Sounds legit

The one thing we can be certain of is the minute liberal wackos like you begin using things like the DK effect it means the things you accuse others of are the precise things you have and/or are doing yourself.

    5. Further comment on Bill Gates. Does this man look healthy to you?

This man look wretched in his appearance. You must be able to have the ability to discern the term appearance.
We are defining that term not in context of what is genetically sound physically attractiveness.

We are defining the term in context of physical health stemming from taking good care of oneself. For example a life of poor diet, lack of exercise, lack of sleep and a mind not focused on real truth can wear on one's physical health and appearance.

We do not begrudge this man on his successes in becoming a billionaire thru building amazing software and an amazing company that employs millions.

However, this man does not look healthy and the things coming out of his mouth do not sound psychologically sound to anyone with a reasonable mind.

We regret to say that this man truly looks like they've tested some really bad vaccines on him over the last 20 years.

      Ergo

    3. 1:45, we voted. In the last election, there were three anti-streetscape candidates. All three lost.

    4. The times they have a-changed, 4:41. The 3 candidates who won last time were not talking streetscape on steroids as it's become. They were not admitting to the monstrous price tag. When they ran it was $18M now it's north of $50M. They were not running against "One Lane - Insane" signs all over the place.

Big difference between now and then, but you knew that.

  10. To "Anonymous April 11, 2020 at 10:20 AM," I would say the following: (a) I won't presume to tell you what conclusion to reach, but I would suggest that you read the Mueller Report yourself, every page and every word (if your attention span will allow you to do so), (b) if a business can't survive a few months of COVID-19 "stay at home" orders, then it sounds like your Republican faith in capitalism should lead you to conclude that such a weak business deserves to go under in the survival-of-the-fittest business world (or are you actually in favor of socialism for corporations?), (c) your views on the pandemic are, truth be told, a sign of ignorance.

I continually base my responses on facts.

You appear to base yours on things like the Mueller report?

Laughable nonsense like some of the trip you believe passes for science.

She's determined to destroy our fair city.

  14. I don't know when or how this series of posts took a wrong turn, but I will circle back to the beginning. I watched the John Oliver video. I thought he was funny, I learned about OAN, and it was cool to see Encinitas mentioned in the video. Regarding the need for staying at home, shutting down non-essential businesses, and maintaining social distancing, these measures are required because, without them, the number of patients requiring medical care would overwhelm the system. That is what the medical experts say. Not sure what expertise those who challenge these measures have, but pointing to a low number of deaths is a weak argument for not taking any measures--by all accounts, the number of deaths is low only because of the measures being taken....

  15. Open the coastline!!!! The sidewalks are twice as crowded and 1,000 times as narrow as the typical section of the coastline and people are not maintaining physical distance of over 1 foot.

The City is making things much worse by keeping the coastline closed. I suggest keeping the parking along the coast closed to help manage. the influx of people and letting people get out in the shine and exercise along the coast. The ocean builds the immunity system which is what we need.

Do not listen to that quack fake Phd. Pam..... she is a bozo.

Do what is best for public health. OPEN THE COASTLINE!!!!!!!!!

You are seeking attention and nothing more. You got it this one time. May this be laid to rest, once and for all, at least in regards to your valueless posts on how we should take each of owns responsibility to not spread the pandemic beyond our ability to treat everyone who needs it.

Look at the numbers and watch how a smart culture addresses viruses. USA cases per million 1,700. Sweden cases per million 1,000,000. Plus they are living their lives and did not kill all their peoples saves and businesses. https://news.google.com/covid19/map?hl=en-US&gl=US&ceid=US:en

Talk about stress related illness. The USA and Encinitas is totally bad for the citizens public health.

The US is paying double what other countries pay for healthcare, as a percentage of GDP, for shittier outcomes.

Millions of Americans lost their healthcare this month during a heath emergency. Many will get huge bills due to COVID over the next 12-18 months. It will bankrupt them. Hospitals won’t be able to collect. It will bankrupt them.

6:37 thinks this is an efficient system. In fact, it’s American Exceptionalism in reverse. Exceptionally Shitty.

  21. This lockdown has everyone stressed to the max and its totally unnecessary. The COVID numbers for San Diego have been consistently low, pre lock down and since.

Sweden has it right and did not harm their citizens by a self made Depression. Now we get to experience all the death and negative impacts to public health from the bad call and City of Encinintas City Council making the wrong call and closing everything including the coast. The State didn't even want to close the coast, until the City of Encinitas was pushing for it.

Now, COE gets to live with all the blood on their hands for this self imposed lock down and closing the coasts. I heard job loss is huge like over 40% of people lost their job or had an associated reduction in income. I heard alcohol sales were up 250% and other stress related stories. I sure hope we do not see a spike in suicides and felonies. All the deaths and hard time above the previous projections are all blood on the CEO for their poor leadership.

Be more like Sweden, keep the parking closed and open the beaches for starters.

The longer you wait, the more unnecessary blood on your hands.
