SDSU survey on homeless issues

From the comments:
I hope you and your loved ones are staying safe and healthy. I am a graduate student at San Diego State University conducting research about homelessness and the Encinitas Safe Parking Program. I understand that this is a politically charged topic but I hope you’ll consider sharing your views with me.

The study has two parts, and you can feel free to participate only one or both part. Part one is a brief electronic survey. You may access the survey here: https://sdsu.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_bBYiWA3zd5ZoHt3. At the end of the survey, you will have the option to share your contact information if you are open to participating in part two, a phone interview that will last 45 to 60 minutes. The interview would be scheduled at a time that is convenient for you (e.g., during an evening or on the weekend), and you would receive an incentive worth $30 to participate.

  1. Our City Council and City Hall suck for not keeping our beaches open for walking, running, breathing, and surfing to maintain our health to fight viruses. Your actions this last month have hurt the public health greatly and I hope me and all my family and friends can recuperate from your bad decision.

I hope all those with accelerated heart disease, stoke issues and cancer can forgive you. Peace to all! and love throughout the world.

  2. The homeless parking lot sucks. It was not publicly vetted. Slammed in by a Newsom guzzling Mayor, and is bad for the community.

Next time- the Mayor might want to think about the citizens.

    She is out!

  3. Let's not forget that we have other former council members who also ignore citizens concerns. Look at what some of our civic leaders said. This project was carefully crafted, and this much be so because Lisa Shaffer is an ethics professor!

Excellent commentary. I applaud the city council for supporting the Safe Parking Lot program.

I live less than a mile from the proposed site of the Safe Parking Program and I am grateful that our Council approved the project. It is carefully crafted, well-planned, and I have no concerns about safety. I have gratitude that we are able to help at least the people in those 25 cars, who will be carefully vetted and provided with case management services so they don’t become chronically homeless. We should be proud of our City for taking this step.

  4. Every single one of the reasons those NIMBYs gave against the safe parking lot has been shown to be exactly the lies and fear-mongering they were described as. Every single one.

    1. Including that it is zoned Ag land and the people that wanted to grow local are that much less likely to because there is one more alternative use of the land that is nonconforming?
