Neighboring beaches to reopen Monday

City of Del Mar:
The City Council voted 5-0 on Friday to open Del Mar’s beaches at dawn on Monday for individual active exercise only and with numerous restrictions to ensure social distancing.

The public’s cooperation is required in order for the beach to remain open and individuals may be cited for violating the rules. Extraordinary circumstances, such as orders from State or County officials, also could close the beaches.

The limited opening -- which coincides with expected openings on Monday of State-controlled beaches and beaches in Solana Beach and Carlsbad -- calls for visitors to stay six feet apart from non-household members on the sand and in the ocean. A number of parking areas, including street parking at the North Beach and the main lot at 17th Street, will remain closed except for disabled spaces. Summer rules for dogs will apply.
This is overdue. Closing beaches was never supported by health science, and it's irresponsible for some cities to close their beaches and force crowds into other cities.

  1. Totally disagree. The huge numbers of people who showed up at the beaches the first two weekends who did not practice social distancing required the beaches to close. Why the cities could not coordinate on a synced re-opening, you tell me.

    1. Huge crowds and no social distancing and yet zero new cases in Encinitas.

    2. Guess why, people working remotely at home and social distancing. With freedom comes responsibility. The era of selfish, macho BS just ended. Ask NYC.

  3. Even moronic politicians know there aren't enough police and military to stop us from going anywhere we want. And we will.
I'm not sure the frothing at the mouth newsom realizes this but if he keeps up this anti Constitution garbage, he'll soon find out that an armed citizenry cannot be trifled with. We are, the biggest armed Army on the planet

  4. Can Stonesteps, Beacon, and Grandview be opened as one way only access points?
    Stonesteps up only
    Beacon down only
    Grandview up only
There is already a gatekeeper at each access point - get these folks out of their vehicles and put them to work!

  5. Why when every other walkway and path around town are open?

Does the City make every sidewalk around town one way? No. Its not needed. Everyone can go up and down safely wearing masks.

Open all the trails, paths, and walkways and let people exercise in the sun and outdoors. Its the best thing you can do to help your immune system fight viruses.

OPEN ALL TRAILS, STAIRWAYS AND PATHWAYS!!!

    1. I’m sorry, but you’re still stupid.

And the number that best represents how much your opinion matters is zero.

      Stay in your lane.

  6. Let me rephrase that for you 9:11 (no coincidence here re: your post timing)

I'm sorry but I pledge to support stupid things like lock downs, closing beaches, arresting tattoo parlor owners for trying to save their homes/business/families becoming homeless and most of all I support police state tactics like in Michigan where they go to peoples homes and harass mothers who let their little ones play with neighbors and post it on facebook.

9:11 - do us all a favor and stay home forever and also please stay 6 feet from your dog and wife and don't ever have offspring.
    Thanks in advance

  7. Did Crista the Pariah lead another trumpet protest this morning at Swami's?

Is Crista the Pariah still one of the leaders of the NC3 group?

Considering the other members in that group that many in this community supports, I would hope she has been told to f off, but one never knows.

There are always strange bedfellows joined in a concerted effort, but Crista has shown her colors to all that she has had her own agenda and now more than ever.

  8. The sarcasm from 10:51 AM is whiny drivel/uneducated background noise. No medical expert recommends that tattoo parlors open at this time. And any tattoo parlor owner who opens now should be arrested.

  9. Granting a business license resides within our city's decision to make or to recall. If some non-essential business wants to reopen, they should be able to prove that they are following the county's guidelines to the letter of the current law.

Tattoo parlors? Geez. When one sees the many protestors crying foul for their current state with their arms and bodies covered with tattoos, it should be noted that they would be in a much better position financially if they had saved the thousands, or hundreds of dollars as it may be, on having a monetary reserve rather than permanently marking their bodies for as long as they are still breathing.

It is difficult to have empathy for these tattoo covered bodies crying out for relief when they spent so much of their limited finds on covering their bodies with ink.

Life scars all of of us just by living long enough. Follow the pied piper off over cliff to a current fashion, just don't expect a handout when the sheet hits the fan.

How many in dire straights would trade some of their tattoos for the money they spent on them?

  12. Ok 3:25, rather than trolling, this is an opportunity for you to bring your English skills to a 9th grade level.
The apostrophe is used to designate possession not plural.
    Is that so hard Einstein?

  13. 6:17 you've completely lost your mind. I would strongly encourage you to remain inside until the danger has passed (never) and watch reruns of Moscow Maddow because you know -- spying was a hoax and collusion is real. While you're at it click on CNN (collusion new network) and maybe you can get some good faux narratives to perpetuate.

    Pathetic person you are.
