Developer attorney and friend of the mayor Marco Gonzalez blasts council candidate

Encinitas Votes:
City Council [sic] Susan Turney and her alter ego, Preserve Prop A [sic] should be ashamed of themselves.

While not unpredictable, their behavior has been despicable.
It's true that Blakespear sued Encinitas residents to take away their right to vote, and then changed the named defendant on the lawsuit when she realized that wasn't a good look.

It's also true that Prop A people want to be able to defend their right to vote in this court case.

I don't think this is quite the "gotcha" moment Marco thinks it is.

  1. What attorney Gonzalez isn't telling is that there was a third housing element measure that didn't go before the voters. It was Measure Z - HCD.

  2. Marco is the master of the specious argument. He sometimes makes valid points, but too many of his posts split hairs to spin the argument his way. He is not above accusing residents of hating poor people. He comes across as harboring a long-term, deep-seated resentment of people who aren't Hispanic.

In fact, the city did sue its residents.

"The City designates all other unknown persons or entities claiming any interest in the subject of this litigation as DOE defendants."

The subject of the litigation was Prop A. The city realized that suing its residents didn't look good and wouldn't appeal to voters, so they replaced the original defendants with HCD.

    1. The only thing Hispanic about Marco is his last name.

That guy is whiter than Vanilla Ice.

  3. Marco is 100% right.

Turney wanted to play victim with the “my mayor sued me” bullshit, so the city removed her as a party in the lawsuit. Now she’s petitioning the court to be added as a party to the lawsuit.

    Her bullshit has been exposed.

Unlike Marco, I don’t feel like arguing under my own name with idiots who pretend not to know what air quotes are.

Trust me. There are a lot of us who refuse to get in the mud with dipshits. But we see what’s up, and we vote.

    See ya in November, bitches!

    3. The fact is the city filed a suit naming us as defendants there by suing us. She and her supporters can twist the truth however they want, but the city still sued their residents and the Prop A supporters. She even names us in the video. That October clip is just after they had filed the suit. If a city keeps ignoring its residents and keeps submitting the same plan for them to vote on, then the city created the obstacle not the voters. Now they are using their self created obstacle to overturn our vote. Sounds a lot third world county to me. The fact that the mayor refused to require more affordable housing on each parcel and voted against the inclusion of parcel L7 in Measure U is "proof of our mayor's malign intent."

Further, if the state is passing laws that force market rate housing on a community, displacing low income families and calling it affordable, then we need to be more than upset that the City/State is suing to over turn our right to vote. Especially if the party removing our right to vote, calls themselves the Progressive Democrats.

  4. Marco, you like to opine on legal issues! Answer me this; does your sister's AB5 make it illegal for parents to hire school tutors for their kids? Please answer this question and let me know what you think about this law (AB5)?

  5. 7:35 on the mark.

Marco in a lather more than usual due likely to unfavorable polling indications. How will he explain it to his BIA handlers if the council flips? Better come up with Plan B and another city to ply the trade.

  6. See you in Nov bitch and you better get your house in order. But of course, you will no because its always about you and you will self justify your crappy decisions about the way things evolved.

We all know how Blakespear - Gomez will end the housing shortage in CA by approving Stack-n- Pack and making it look like Costa Mesa.

Go Team BIA. The Blakespear-Gomez family is in full support!

  7. So predictable.

You know Susan has approximately ZERO POINT ZERO chance of NOT winning her election when Marco busts out the obfuscation.

Dopey liberals have no ceiling on their stupidity.

But he's a nice guy though at least.

  8. Prediction- when all the other crap fails to turn the tide on Susan they will accuse her of racism.

And all citizens of Ency will fall on their fainting couch

    LOL

    Susan is over the target!

  9. Question:

Do Susan or her Prop A organization want to be a named party in the court action or not?

    Simple question. Yes or no.

    Follow ups:

If yes, as indicated by their recent filing to be added, then why did she make a fuss about being named in the first place?

If no, then why is she now making court filings to be added?

The truth is obvious, she wants it both ways.

I hope a judge denies her request to be included and tells her to pound sand—she had her chance and blew it. Tough shit. Sit on the sidelines and watch.

    1. News flash for ya 11:03: all residents upon hearing they were being sued flipped out. Fun fact: Americans tend to like their voting rights. The weird part was Blakespear thinking people would be cool with it. Gotta wonder what's going on in that head.

    2. It wasn’t her choice.

      Know how you can tell?

Ask—no—demand that the challengers in the election commit to repeal the current housing element and return to our 2018 element and fight the state.

They won’t do it. And in fact if they were elected at the time, they would have done the same thing. It’s easy to play populism when you aren’t accountable for the results.

  10. People like Marco want it both ways, too. On the one hand, he chastises Encinitas citizens for not getting involved and for "complaining". yet, when one citizen decided to take action, run for office and affect change, then he gets mad about that.

    1. Dear Marco, Please elaborate on the great additions of affordable housing in our city since you represent developers who use every loophole in the book to avoid doing so. Doesn't that make them racist?

    2. 3:24,

I’m not Marco, but I will say that state law is only marginally about affordable housing for low income people. It has more to do with the general law of supply and demand. Companies are opting to open new job recs in other states because housing cost (which is ultimately paid by employers via wages) is too high.

More supply relative to demand ultimately improves the economy.

Don’t like the law? Fine, then lobby, volunteer, donate, and send candidates to Sacto who will a change the law.

Until then, obey the law. We don’t just follow the laws we agree with. That’s anarchy.

      He just. can't. help. himself.

  12. So I am all in to Blakespear's plan. More dense development is better for the environment. Its not like people pollute the earth or anything right?

So if I support Blakespear and the BIA and want to turn Encinitas into the Waikiki, or Maimi Beach of SOCA (now that is some dense good development right) who will I vote for in November?

Do I vote for the BIA, Marco, the Blakespear-Gomez ticket, Catherine, Gomez-Blakespear, BIA-Blakespear-Gomez?

I sure hope they make sure its clear which ticket is the BIA/Blakespear/Gomez ticket. I can hear the jackhammers already in my dreams.

I sure support Blakespear's plan to pave over Encinitas and put those puny towers down in Coronado to shame with the 80 to 100 story BIA towers of Encinitas. Let's get this party started. November can not come soon enough!!!

BIA Blakespear - Gomez all the way!!!

  16. Concrete can be used to build some really strong foundations and five star custom sustainable homes and infrastructure. It can also be used to build crappy dense developments that are pushed by Newsom and Blakespear-Gomez.

If you want Encinitas to look like Miami Beach west, vote for Blakespear-Gomez
