Sunshine Gardens closing

North Coast Current:
Nestled between Quail Gardens Drive and Encinitas Boulevard, Sunshine Gardens has served as more than just a nursery for the past 50 years. For the community, it has been a nurturing space where memories are made.

Though the business will be closing its 155 Quail Gardens Drive location on Dec. 31 to make way for a long-awaited housing project through the city of Encinitas, Karen England, cousin of owner Ron Martin, says that they’re open to finding a new spot to start the business’s next chapter.
Lots of history at the link.

  1. That's what overcrowding needs...more housing. And soon, more.

    1. Over 400 units in an area where traffic is already highly dysfunctional. Encinitas Blvd. will be impassable in the AM and PM.... This development is not suitable for the location, as it will literally render the streets useless. It is pandering to big developers and is a blunder in urban planning. Vote all City Council incumbents out; and vote against Blakespear for the State Senate.

    2. Blakespear and this entire city council are useless - vote them out and vote for Blakespear's opponent in the State Senate race.

  2. No worries, the 5 freeway can handle more traffic in either direction on any day of the week from the added housing units. Just go to any overpass and see for yourself.

  3. Blakespear's golden boy Brian Grover is behind this blech.

  4. Yay BIAspear's dream is coming alive. I can not wait for this to be built as it will make Encinitas more and more like Huntington Beach.

Kill a local business, and take a flower operation in an open field and convert it to a high-rise with a parking lot in an arid way overbuilt desert.

Awesome BIA just what I wanted. Less open-space and nature. More crowded streets, beaches, parks, space, water users, pollution, shade, blocked views, dead people on Encinitas Blvd, and more cars. You sure have great vision!

Next can we please get rid of our sewers? We should let the sewage run on the ground like it does in other countries. Its more sustainable.

You have to ask yourself what could go wrong with BIAspear in charge of anything? Well. All I can say is Don't look up Cathy! - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RbIxYm3mKzI

How can Encinitas have such a hot mess of City Council members? All you folks that voted for BIA and the clown council are responsible for killing Encinitas. I seriously ask you to reassess your priorities and vote accordingly in future elections.

    BOOPO!

  5. Ever notice how the America hating left claims they are concerned about gullible warming and yet wants to build ghetto housing to cause more and more pollution in tighter areas with people living on top of one another. What ever the left does, they destroy.

  6. I notice that politicians will say anything if they think it will get them elected. Blakespear is the flip side of the coin from $tock$. Whatever thread you post on, 7:44, you destroy.

Up next for Grover is Piraeus high density project. He's got golden boy status at city hall so will get a slam dunk against the already freaked out neighbors.

    1. Who's stock? Try and stop living in the past, it's the past. Come into the now. Liberalism is a mental disorder.

    3. Blakespear backed off the Sandag transportation tax for the moment only. If she is allowed into the STate Senate, watch out! She will have an open door for developers and any special interest that will line her pockets. Let her join Gaspar in obscurity!

    4. Gaspar, Bilbray, $tock$. Barth, Shaffer...time for her to join her pals in irrelevance.

  7. No. As usual, that was BIAspear typical signaling and nothing more.

BIAspear voted for the SANDAG regional plan with all the road charges, state tax increases, and Transnet increases in 2022 and 2028 that will tax the snot out of all residents and increased costs for all drivers.

    https://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/opinion/commentary/story/2021-12-09/sandags-regional-transportation-plan-san-diego

What she then supported with her other newsomites was to look at temporarily removing the road charge as a future SANDAG item. So believe you and me they are looking to tax the snot out of you so most people are forced to take the bus, walk or ride a bike.

Lets go!!!! Convert Encinitas to Huntington Beach - Check!

Next highest priority spend billions of tax payers money ($160,000,000,000+) and get everyone out of cars and riding nice and slow, polluting, virus filled busses.

    Yew!!

  8. Absolutely the worst type of development on a main arterial access road to the freeway. Encinitas Blvd. is already badly overloaded at peak hours and this will make it far worse. It literally could take an hour to get to the I-5 and only be blocks away. This is a disaster in urban planning.

    1. Knowing how much Blakespear bias is thrown in the developer Grover's favor just imagine he's getting everything he asked for and then some. He's a favorite at Queen Catherine's court.

  9. So Grover pulled all his comments from his Foxpoint Farms posts. Him and his ridiculous MOU he used to lead neighbors to the slaughter. Watch, he'll renege on every deal they think they made with him. No record, no deal!

  10. Blakespear has totally sold out to developers.
