Blakespear's Equity Committee gets criticism about influence over public safety contracts

 Coast News:

After a contentious public comment period, Blakespear addressed the criticism directed at her and the council.

“I’ll just say that I know you have the right to stand up here and to berate me, to insult me, to demean me, to bait me and that’s all part of the First Amendment rights that you have,” Blakespear said. “My hope is always that we can go back to recognizing that our democratic system relies on having the ability to see the humanity in others and to trust each other. And if you don’t like the policies, if you don’t like what you see from your elected officials, that you work really hard to elect somebody else.”

  1. I think we should follow her advice and work very hard to elect someone besides Blakespear. There is a new OC Democrat who is entering the race.

  2. That is the most logical thing BIAspear has said while in office.

Keep up the good work on improving from your F status.

  4. No one "demeaned" her. They asked questions. They complained. But in her world if you don't constantly stroke her ego you are attacking her. What a field day a shrink would have with that one.

  5. All these worthless pieces of shits.

No one brought up the senseless helicopters chasing down teenagers late for dinner and Alzheimer's joe who is missing for an hour, to go out and torment the community with apocalypse now for two hours with loud illegible messages.

  6. How about zero traffic control and zero tickets for speeders or wrong moves that will kill people.

    F BIAspear.

  7. Blakespear is a whiner - she needs to be permanently removed from any and all public offices. Her policies have been a disaster for Encinitas and could be worse if she reaches the State office. Then she and Gonzales can join the E-bike gang.

  8. "Equity Committee" - what is the function of this non-elected group of Blakespear appointees? They've got involved in the discussion of the renewal of the contract with the Sheriff's department? How'd that happen, when the average citizen has no input tot hat process? Blakespear runs the City as her own fiefdom, the Queen and her consorts. She needs to be defeated in her attempt to get a cushy position in the State Senate - she is clearly incompetent and has made an absolute mess of Encinitas during her chaotic reign.

  9. I disagree with Blakespear's complaints about her mistreatment by speakers. She acts like citizens asking the purpose of the Equity Committee is on par with the Aryan Brotherhood staging marches through Jewish neighborhoods or other legally-protected, yet highly insensitive displays of 1st Amendment rights. She loves playing the victim while usually it is she taking the role of abuser to Encinitas residents. She has done more to divide our community than any politician in Encinitas history.

  10. She could've handled the speaker better. Kristen Gaspar, for all her faults, was often understanding and let people break a few rules. Hell, she spoke after meetings were over herself, however, she didn't revel in her authoritarian role like Barth did, and now Catherine is acting the same. She needs to grow a thicker skin cuz if she wins the Seante, then she'll be fodder for the newspapers, etc. who are expert at getting in the last word. That exchange with the speaker proves there's no Adult in the room sitting in the Mayor's chair.

    1. Obviously, the cognitive load she is carrying with all of the different stories she tells to different audiences is taking its toll on her. There are Democrats in Encinitas who have left the party because of her, and others who remain in the party who will work for another viable candidate. She has left a lot of breadcrumbs for her new competition to share with in OC and in this area, too.

    2. Had to laugh at Barbara Henry's report that the speaker "tried to engage the mayor" in a staring contest. She didn't try, she did. Henry was $tock$' lapdog, she's moved on to Blakespear.

  11. 2:41 hit it right on the head. Blakespear has driven off many who once supported her. And there is no lack of proof of her mismanagement and juvenile acting out to hand over to the challengers. Let's start with sued her own residents....

  12. The successful strategy of submitting repeated guaranteed to fail housing plans to HCD worked, as dastardly a plan as it was, it worked. For the time being.

That thankfully is no longer the case. Justice in the interim has prevailed. Sort of.

Our community activists who were once labeled 'obstructionists' have been relentlessly carrying on for decades. They as much as anyone deserve all of our respect for attempting to preserve what many have treasured about our community for decades.

We deserve better. If you care, wake the f up! Way too many choose to remain uninformed.

We all have our own lives to live in our own way. The preservation of this special community is worth any involvement we can spare.

  13. anyone else catch fraud Mali Woods Drake's luxury Hawaiian vacation complete with catamaran? her friends posted on facebook, whoops! there goes her down-and-out recital. Missing too from her poor-me narrative is her Tesla. she, the mayor, and marco are tied at the hip. no wonder everything that comes out of them is phrased identically with the same fake care for equity.

  14. Blakespears is so bad, I would vote for her to even be part of the bleach white Janet demmocrat equity committee.

She is that bad. I heard Shaffer sold her big box home in Encintas Ranch and is going to live in one of her neighbor's
ADUs so they can all be part of the huge Cardiff Janet Club.
