  1. Shows how much people understand that their commnents do not matter to this City Council. No comments anymore.

Yet complete shambles at City Hall. Sad.

Lawsuites?- Oh yeah. Up the ying-yang. Safe roads- Who cares.

San Diego County Sheriff's deputies continue to search for the hit-and-run driver responsible for seriously injuring a bicyclist in Encinitas, leaving her in a medically induced coma.

The crash happened on Friday night around 10 p.m. when Stephanie Berger, 29, was riding her bike on North Coast Highway 101 near Basil Street in what is called a sharrow -- a lane designed to be shared by cyclists and drivers.

A Mercedes C series struck Berger and fled the scene, leaving the cyclist with severe head trauma, deputies said.

Berger was rushed to Scripps La Jolla, where doctors put her in a medically induced coma.

Roberta Walker was struck in southbound lanes of North Coast Highway 101 south of Phoebe Street at around 6 a.m. Saturday. The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department told NBC7 the driver of a Dodge RAM rear ended her while both were in the slow lane.

Walker is very well known in the beach community and serves as executive director of Cardiff 101 Main Street.

Many of her friends and supporters staged at Encinitas City Hall Monday to voice their concerns about traffic and safety issues in the area, issues that Walker has championed for in the past.

Bad City Hall leadership- status quo.

After 2 years of of Stephanie Berger and 1 year since Roberta Walker were mowed down and nothing has changed. Way to support a do nothing City Hall City Council. Your all useless and so bad for the Encinitas Tax payer and safety of this City.

I can not wait to vote for better leaders and for a needed change at City Hall.

  2. More carnage to come on the N Coast death highway. Whos kid will be next to be needlessly run down on this known hazard?

    1. Hey, 6:20 = 6:16, you've posted your accusation several times. First, and most importantly, it's silly.

Second, you tried "who's" and somebody told you that's the wrong word for your meaning. Now you tried "whos" and that's still wrong. The word you want is "whose."

I can go to a furniture store and buy a living room suite, or I can go to an office suite on business. But I would see a lawyer if I wanted to file a lawsuit.

If you can't get simple, basic English right, what impression do you think you're leaving?

  3. Lesson: Don't ride your bike anywhere on 101 in the dark.

  4. It's easy. Curfew. No bikes before 5am and none after 9pm on 101.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Even easier.

Implement the approved plan to make the road safe.

  6. Where does one go to see this "approved plan".

    1. Leucadia. Next year.

    2. 7:32 - if you mean running Kranz out of office you'll get a resounding yes from more people than he suspects.

    3. When a candidate comes forward, I will write a check and campaign to remove Tony Kranz.

  7. Walker was on her bike after 5 a.m. In the dark, no bike lights, dark clothes. Horrible what happened, but no reason to force this supposedly "approved" and atrocious plan on everyone else.

Catherine was clearly outraged that her prime pick for Tasha's seat took herself out of the running, going on a whacked-out one-woman mission to stick it to the rest of the town in the name of "safety."

Her knee-jerk bollards and restripings citywide have become a joke no one finds funny.

  8. Hey 9:39 am-

The families of the kids run down don't think its silly. Your a complete jackass!

Wow. You sure are good at grammar. When you don't have anything intelligent to say.... do want all grammar moms do, go after the grammar.

Your writing looks like the work of that ignorant Doug Fiske. He is a complete jackass.

    1. "'Its' silly?"

      "Your?"

"Do 'want' all grammar moms do...."

8:35, you are a sloppy product of what school system? With your education you will never sound intelligent, 8:35.

    2. Man, 8:35 is even dumber than we thought!

    3. The system definitely failed him or her.

    4. Lou and Doug should be proud to have 8:35 as their enemy.

That bottom-dweller shows his ignorance and stupidity again at 6:24 below.

  9. run down, mowed down, just stop it. stop blaming the streets for cyclist negligence.

take your streetscam millions and spend it on something useful instead of wasteful. kranz is a di$grace.

  10. Who cares about the grammar when people are gettng run down? Oh yeah, the dumb ass KLCC. They are just sitting in their homes and cars rottening until their hearts finally stop beating.

On a blog, its all about making a simple point quickly. Grammar make no difference to me. Grammar mom's just do not have anything better to do with their time.

Its all about making your points in the appropriate amount of time. WTF?

We are not all retired old hags that have nothing better to do all day then edit blog posts. KLCC is a group of old and half baked losers. When you have nothing intelligent to add, always go after the grammar.

The point is the road was constructed as a highway for really fast vehicle speeds and its a known hazard to the surrounding community in its current state. As a result, the City continues to get sued and lose big $$$$$$ every year. I say put the money towards fixing the problem and towards compensating the needless victims from the negligence from not addressing this known hazard.

  11. Great, now we know how to spell and use grammar. Or not. What's the plan to make the road safe? (insert sound of crickets here). "Leucadia. Next year", is not the right answer.

  12. My wife, kids and I ride our bikes on 3rd and Neptune. It's foolish to ride on 101 through Encinitas.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I do too.... riding a bike on our Mainstreet is a known hazard.... dangerous as hell. I pity the fools who take their lives daily and I pity the tax payer who pays for the negligence of the City for not addressing this known hazard.

    ReplyDelete
  14. When has the taxpayer paid "for the negligence of the City for not addressing this known hazard" and how much was paid?

    ReplyDelete
  15. Wait for it...... $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ etc..... and its not going to stop. More and more deaths. City is liable for knowing about the hazard and doing nothing.

    1. So the answers to 9:10's question are never and zero.

      Project that into the future.

  16. Time to build a safe road and punch some tough shit cards.

  17. Yea right man/child. You are looking forward to profiting handsomely if this scam is enacted. The strong majority has never been in favor of this disaster in the making and you and your handful of profiteers have pushed this upon our community for your own ends.

That our council has never allowed a proper vetting is because they know it would fail.

$54 million for this scam is already more than likely out of date if past history is any indication.

Where will the city come up with this amount without approval from the residents who be paying for this with their taxes. Cart before the horse is nothing new around here.

This is getting so old just like you.

Never a word about lowering the tracks that would provide 101 and beach access remains crucial to solving so many associated problems.

Streetscam has proven what it really is about. A handful of a few money grubbing property owners that will never allow a consensus of public opinion to be taken is proof of what a compromised process this has been all along.

    ReplyDelete
  18. So we have Roberta Walker who advocated for bike lanes suing the city for millions because the signs that were put up at her insistence were "confusing." I have sympathy for both Walker and Berger, but it seems that these sharrows that were supposed to solve problems have only made matters worse in terms of biker safety.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. And let's remember the cycling community begged for sharrows in the first place.

      Delete
    2. Let's see ..... do I have sympathy for Walker ..... who shot down a side street onto 101 in the morning darkness, while no one can confirm she even had lights on her bike or reflective clothing on her dumb ass ...... into a street design she lobbied for and was instrumental in finalizing ..... and now she's suing my city for her irresponsibility ...... hmmmmmm.

      Delete
    3. Dude who arrived on scene within a couple of minutes by his account said no lights on bike, no reflective clothing. Walker asked for sharrows, got them, was confused by them.

How many $M will Blakespear flip her out of loyalty and outrage that her #1 pick for Boerner-Horvath's seat took herself out of commission? Too tempting for Blakespear not to blame the big, bad automobile instead of Walker.

Blakespear's loose-lipped comments to the press will only help Walker get more money out of taxpayers. Don't they teach you in law school to keep your trap shut??

  19. As it should be for all drivers and cyclists, taking personal responsibility for ones actions, and accordingly inaction, needs to be a priority.

Try turning off the common distractions so many use way too often. This applies to drivers and cyclists. Beware and try to be aware of your surroundings.

Don't blame the taxpayers for your distracted actions. Anyone who rides in the dark or almost dark on the 101 should reconsider their personal choice and take Neptune. Using lights and wearing safety gear helps also, but in the dark, wtf?

I use to drive down Baja at night but that is long past. Riding on the 101 in the dark should demand a rethink. Don't do it. Don't blame the city for your poor choice.

  20. A frequent commenter at City Council meetings, Delores Welty, it would appear, has been committing voter fraud.
