Blakespear vs. 5G

Encinitas Votes:
In pandering to a pressure group, and misleading them about what the city can do to help their cause, she has actually done material harm to that cause. And by quoting the email contents publicly, the group STOP 5G Encinitas itself has shot itself in the foot. If the mayor actually planned to wield the restored decision powers in the wake of a legal victory over the FCC to slow and block the expansion of 5G, then she would have considerably more latitude to do so without everyone knowing about this email.

And now that Encinitas is a party to the lawsuit, the mayor’s email may become evidence in court that the FCC could use to demonstrate that municipalities should not have restored local powers, because they plan to abuse them. Ironically, Encinitas joining the suit may hurt plaintiffs’ chances of winning.

  1. You'd think with her legal background she'd know better, but perhaps in this case she did know better and with her mind made up, just didn't care about throwing her own residents under the bus??

The mayor's lack of impulse control is nothing new. Think about her comments after Walker's accident that served only to bolster Walker's case against the city. She couldn't reward Walker with Tasha's council seat, but she could repay her another way.

  2. The council makes its decisions before the issues or cases are heard at City Hall. They sit patiently and pretend to be listening and considering what's said before they decide. However, if you watch and listen closely, you can detect that they've already decided. They toss in a few innocuous questions to make their consideration seem legitimate. It's all a show.

  3. Our Mayor is a lawyer, and she has pretty clearly stated in writing her intent to violate federal law. Let that sink in for a minute. If that's not disqualifying for an elected official who has sworn an oath to to defend our Constitution and laws, then I'm not sure what is.

The Stop 5G group is lead and supported by people who literally wallpaper their bedrooms floor to ceiling in aluminum foil (https://bit.ly/2nBG6Rr). They also think 9/11 was an inside job (https://bit.ly/2mQ5iDC), that the US government is manipulating hurricanes (https://bit.ly/2nGd6rJ), that Jeffrey Epstein faked his death and escaped prison (https://bit.ly/2omstpz), and that Lyme Disease is a government plot (https://bit.ly/2nKrgYI).

These are the people Mayor Blakespear has chosen to associate herself with in the setting of public policy.

There are only two possible explanations for the Mayor's email, and they are bad and worse.

The first is that the Mayor is cynically toying with a fringe group to pander for votes and support, not unlike how some politicians pander to white nationalists and climate deniers. That's bad. The second explanation is that Mayor Blakespear is a true believer--a full blown anti-science conspiracy theorist who actually plans to abuse local powers to violate federal law. That's worse.

    So which is it Mayor?

    Bad?

    Or worse?

    3. 12:53, I totally agree. What people do with their own time and money is their own business. People are free to believe and act privately as they wish.

But if it demonstrates a pattern of fringe thinking that becomes active in influencing public policy, then it becomes fair game in assessing credibility.

  4. 11:57AM. I feel for your concerned neighbors that they have you as a neighbor.

Their concerns are not fringe based. Your denial is.

One chart brought forward was as clear as the day is long.

China, the leading developer of this weapons graded EMF technology allows the number of ten, in whatever scale is used.

Others nations that outright are banning this or significantly allowing lower numbers of emitting radio waves less than 10 shows that USA and Canada allow s1,000 should question why China knows better than to allow more than 10.

They are more than happy to promote this technology to the rest of the world while limiting their own citizens exposure to an infinitely minimal amount compared to the USA and Canada.

Surely we should follow their example of limiting our citizens to an equitable amount of 24 hour around the clock exposure. Lower our allowed exposure to 10 on their scale and maybe a fraction could be allowed with the proper set backs from residences, schools, fire depts. et al.

To label these concerns as fringe does show one thing. You are not a good neighbor. Your neighbors are not whack jobs. That applies more to you than them.

    1. Your disagreement isn't with me. Its with the Mayo Clinic, the American Cancer Society, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the American Medical Association, The Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, the World Health Organization.

Your disagreement is with real science. Take it up with them.

It’s crystal clear, but you don’t even understand what units are being used?

  5. So you say.

The numbers of what other countries allow their citizens to be exposed to, whatever they are called, compared to the USA does matter.

The leading sponsor of this technology China, knows better than most and chose to protect their citizens, whereas ours has not. $$$$$$$

Nice try. Not even close. Is that you Andrew Mazurski? Sure sounds like it.

This is a weapons grade technology and should be treated as such. It is not suited to being installed in our neighborhoods, or our schools, or our fire depts. or anywhere without a specified safe distance setback.

This would negate the use of this weapons grade radio emissions mostly ineffective.

Do I have that correct for the most part?

Does every one of those citizens who have stated they are affected by this huge increase in emissions come from an ignorant opinion? Are they making this up? Are these sensitive residents a bunch of tin foiled wackos?

It sure sounds like it from your point of view.

The name of the units used is not pertinent.

What is, is the factor that our gov. allows us to be exposed to compared to China who is the leading developer of this advanced weapons grade technology to everyone else on the planet.

10 units compared to 1,000 should be something any rational mind should contemplate before supporting without reservations exposing our residents to such a powerful source of radio waves.

Maybe you can sponsor a 5g pole outside of your home if you feel so strongly that there is nothing to fear.

  6. I'd like to point out that in the first comments here, not one has addressed the point of the post: that our Mayor--a member of the bar who has sworn an oath to uphold our laws--led people to believe that she intends to violate federal law, and put it in writing.

Where else have we heard this recently? A populist base that doesn't really care if their elected leader is shattering norms and breaking laws, as long as they think the policy outcomes are desirable.

    Ends justifying means.

    It sounds so familiar.

Where have we heard it before?

Don't be critical of the mess on the other side of the street if you are unwilling to clean up your side.

    1. Regulations issued by agencies such as the FCC are not the same thing as Federal laws signed by Congress and the President and it is quite appropriate to challenge them in court. Laws are also subject to court action.

    2. Read the original post.

The mayor basically said in writing that she planned to use local approval powers to limit and stop the rollout of 5G in Encinitas.

That’ would violate the Non Discriminatory Access clause of the Telecommunications Act of 1996, which is not being disputed in our or any lawsuit.

The mayor privately told a group that she was willing to violate federal law to support their cause.

  8. So, 3g and 4g is just fine. But, ohhh' gawd nooo', not 5g.

  9. 8:10am. You got it, although it was obviously not your intention.

The radio waves emitted by 5g compared to 4g are far more powerful and destructive to all life forms. There was mention from currently working scientists of thousands of times more powerful than 4g at the meeting.

This should give anyone pause, even you.

All the residents are asking is to not rush into allowing this new weapons graded technology to run rampant 24 hours a day throughout our neighborhoods, schools , fire depts. et al.

Some how you got it right, even if it was not your intention.

That the primary developer ,China, of this powerful technology allows their own citizens exposure to be an infinitesimal fraction of what our country allows should be obvious to anyone of the potential for ill affects from 5g.

  10. Sounds like a bunch of enviro wackos. The world will end in ten years by your estimates, so who cares if we have 5g? But to have a mayor that will openly flaunt federal law is a travesty. Investigate and recall her.
