SANDAG targets all of Encinitas Highlands, Orpheus neighborhoods for high-density transit center

SANDAG:

The 2021 Regional Plan is a 30-year plan that considers how we will grow, where we will live, and how we will move around the region.

Mobility Hubs:

Mobility Hubs are communities with a high concentration of people, destinations, and travel choices. They offer on-demand travel options and supporting infrastructure that enhance connections to high-quality Transit Leap services while helping people make short trips around the community on Flexible Fleets. Mobility Hubs can span one, two, or a few miles based on community characteristics and are uniquely designed to fulfill a variety of travel needs while strengthening sense of place.

More:
By 2050, it is anticipated that the Mobility Hub network could serve approximately half of the region’s population and more than two-thirds of the region’s jobs.

"Supportive Land Use" (think UTC):
A healthy mix of land uses, including jobs, housing, shopping, and recreation, supports a variety of community activities.
In closely related news:
Prop A goes to court this Thursday - June 3! The mayor is asking the judge to invalidate your Prop A Right to Vote on high density housing and silence your voice.

  12. BIAspear is clueless and has no common sense. She talks about eliminating world hunger, securing world peace, and restoring mother earth, yet she takes actions daily that impliment practices against the above issues.

Just one example is the pave over paradise approach along Vulcan Avenue and Hwy 101 for parking. Paving the area for parking promotes all the wrong behaviors and is a gift of public funds to the adjacent property owners. In this case it's to the property owners on Vulcan Avenue. People ask, well where will their residents park. The answer according to the City is for them to take public transit. Otherwise its up the property owner to provide parking as they see fit. Its not the City's responsibility to provide parking for private property owners benefit.

A second is keeping known hazardous conditions on road for years. The result losing $11 million to a maimed Roberta Walker. The City should sell Pacific View property to pay the settlement due and then address the hazard. I'm not sure what property or how the City will be paying for the future claims from Stephanie Berger-McKenna and Dr. Jennings Worley which are sure to total over $20 million.

And do not get me started about the City's failure to maintain the roads in the City. A complete failure any way you look at it.

    BOOPO.

    ReplyDelete
  13. 8:26 The parking along Vulcan is DG, not pavement, right? At least 100 cars were parking there in the dirt because there's not enough parking for the residents across the street. Those property owners can't create new ground for parking. The only semi-solution was to convert the Vulcan west side dirt parking to DG parking. It's the railroad right-of-way so NCTD/SANDAG had to approve the city's suggestion. It's not city property.

The parking along Leucadia 101 is DG. It's 176 spaces because that was a condition of the Coastal Commission's approval.

The same bicycle dangers along Leucadia 101 exist through downtown Encinitas, Cardiff, Solana Beach and Del Mar. So for you to keep singling out Leucadia as some extra hazard is bogus. Similar bike dangers exist on every road and street in Encinitas. When it's car or truck vs. bike, bike loses. That's not a justification, but it is a fact.

PV is zoned public/semi-public. It was dedicated to educational use by the man who donated it in the late 1800s. To be used for anything but what its zoning allows, it would have to be upzoned. It's doubtful a Prop A vote would let that happen. If Prop A dies, the public outcry against upzoning PV and using it for residential or commercial purposes would be HUGE. That makes it a political hot potato.

Road pavement conditions in many parts of Encinitas are terrible.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The council would love it if Prop A dies. It won't matter how much public outcry there is, developers will decide PV's use.

Voted to reelect Blakespear, Kranz, Hinze? Remind yourself that this is what you wanted.

      Delete
    2. First, 1:14, 12:26 did not vote for the incumbents.

Second, any council member who advocates using PV for anything but a public/semi-public purpose won't be re-elected

Third, do the research and learn the facts before you post. Your uninformed opinions are worthless.

      Delete
    3. 12:26pm - Compact DG is impervious pavement. Its expensive to maintain and does not perform well in parking areas. Another bad call by the City and NCTD.

The Leucadia section like the Cardiff section of the Hwy101 have higher speeds and hence more opportunity for mowing territory. Go ride it and tell me how you feel as cars come hauling ass by you purposely buzzing you within 1-2 feet. Where are is decency of people and were are the cops to ticket all these bad dangerous drivers?

PV should have never been a City issue. It was a school district issue. The City did not and does not need more facilities to build and maintain. We do not need them.

You are right that it is a political issue. Any politician that supports PV will not get my vote and any other educated citizens vote that does not want to highly subsidize ($20,000,000 to $30,000,000 when done) a few folks finger painting and the surrounding hood that do not want additional neighbors.

Road pavement conditions in many parts of Encinitas are terrible.

City of Encinitas Pays Hacker’s Ransom

Hackers identified as the Density Blakespear Project hacked the city of Encinitas’ computer systems, thereby disabling them and all city operations dependent on them. The hackers inserted malware in the systems and demanded a ransom to remove the malware and restart operations.

Knowing the hack would shut the city down, the crackerjack IT department acted quickly with City Council authorization to pay the ransom and get the systems up and running. The ransom was reportedly 21 Blakecoin, the equivalent of $2.1 million in the current Blakecoin market.

Under the dire circumstances, the City Council had decided there was no choice but to pay the ransom. Despite the IT department’s expert abilities, its personnel could not remove the malware without the Density Blakespear Project’s control. Leaving the malware in place would have left the city inoperable.

To prevent a repeat hack, the city will replace its antiquated Al Gore rhythms and add several layers of security.

Residents, businesses and government entities that interact with the city of Encinitas can rest assured their data, documents and communications are secure and will remain so going forward.

  17. So why does everything that comes out of BIA go against her actions? Does she always speak with forked tongue?

The City Council is reviewing and requested to approve the next years budget this Wednesday.

So the Mayor house is in Cardiff which benefited from the City's first quiet zone crossing over 2 years ago. The City has been studying and designing the issue for 20 years. The Cities of San Diego and San Clemente have quite zones and Solana Beach doesn't have any horns. I also heard Oceanside is close to completing its quiet zone through their entire city.

So while BIA keep speaking about saving the earth, can someone direct me to the Capital Improvement Project Budget page that commits the budget to finish the quiet zone for the rest of Encinitas crossings?

Encinitas has been promising this needed improvement for over 20 years. There is no good reason why we still have horning blowing for the empty major polluting trains throughout the day. When is the quiet zone going to happen?
