As politicians continue to push high-density development, population is actually declining

I’ve got a feeling all those new units being built with inadequate parking in Encinitas under the pretense of the housing crisis are becoming Air BnB’s and vacation homes for the out-of town rich.

Voice of San Diego:
San Diego got smaller from 2020 to 2021, entirely because fewer people moved to the region than moved away from it, according to a Thursday release from the U.S. Census Bureau.

That made for three consecutive years in which San Diego had negative population growth.

In summary, what is the point of having a historical area if these ass hats can come in and ghettoize that area. Along with the city of encinitas combining the lots too further ruin the area.

    1. Agreed. Unfortunately now we have the ocmmies like Kranz pushing for tripling the housing stock and destroying Encinitas in the name of "affordable housing".

You could quadruple the housing units in Encinitas and it will not signifigantly lower the cost of housing in Encinitas due to the demand of living here.

But the way you can make Encinitas have lower housing prices is by stacking in as many people as possible and gridlock traffic like Kranz has approved and is pushing further. That plus fencing off the coastline will have a damaging effect on the quality of life in Encinitas and hence lower demand for living and visiting here.

So to that degree, Tony is effective at making housing more affordable in Encinitas by lowering the quality of life and thereby the demand side of the equation.

Spread the work - Tony is synonymous with traffic and lower quality of life.

  3. The loss of population in the way overbuilt desert is great news. Lets get another 10 to 20% to move to places that have more sustainable water supply.

The whole Kranz's babble talk about building affordable housing is just that, babble talk.

This City has and will continue to demand high real estate prices because of its proximity to the beach. You could double the number of units in Encinitas and it would have no bearing on lowing housing costs in Encinitas or around the region. Anybody talking about providing affordable housing in Encinitas shows they are an idiot and do not understand simple supply and demand concepts.

In fact, Kranz supports doubling the housing stock and converting our beach town to LA ASAP.

Look at all the development he pushed in along Vulcan Avenue and La Costa Avenue. Spread the word Tony is horrible for Encinitas. Tony is synonymous with traffic.

Tell your friends when you are stuck in traffic or you can not access the beach because its been fenced off be sure to call Tony and thank him for ruining Encinitas.

  4. Affordable housing is a misnomer - it will always be market value. Now selling it out for vacation rentals for rich investors - Speedy G and Blakespear loading their pockets with cash to facilitate this investment opportunity. Roads impassable, water shortages. power rates going up - general quality of life diminishing for residents, brought to you by corrupt opportunists. 1. Check out the proposed project for Dos Palmes / Hago's. Four homes and three condos (7 units) are planned for the corner of 101 and W Jason. The site is less than 1/4 acre.
With all the parked cars, W Jason is already a one lane road up to Neptune. Pedestrians must walk in the road where there are no sidewalks. And the city thinks it is ok to add another ~10 parked cars to the street?

Blakespear is using the kick-backs from developers to fund her campaign and Speedy G is in there lining his pockets. This over-load will permanently damage these neighborhoods for their access and quality of life (character). It was awesome and I heard birds chirping and kids laughing. Other bonuses no one lost their life and tons of cancer causing deisel pollution was not pumped out onto our neighborhood and adding to the GHGs.

The coaster is such a huge polluting dangerous very harmful waste of tax payers money. Its should really be shut down and that space used for much more beneficial things for the communities.

    2. 4:22am - you proved my point. No one rides the train and its a huge source of cancer causing pollution and a huge waste of tax payers money. Well less than 1% of the population or even commutors take the train yet it is sucking in incredible amount of tax dollars to operating that cancer causing empty deadly steal boxes.

And what are you talking about, we have zero power plants and depend on others for power? IDKAY but I put in solar over 10 years ago and I get free power and free power for all my vehicle and bike trips too. I am never without power even when SDGE goes down.

I would suggest everyone get power and start saving money. Why depend on SDGE when they are focused on maximizing profits.

Also, the most valuable land in SD county is along the coast. It's the reason we live here. The train was built back in the 1800s in its current alignment because it was relatively flat along the coast which is the cheapest place to build a railroad.

Now hundreds of years later, that 300 year old technology is outdated and is hazardous for humans along the coast, cancer causing, highly polluting and horn blaring (which is also highly damaging to public health). Not to mention the railroad berms were the first to choke off the largest source of sand to our beaches when they were laid and started damming all the sand in the lagoons.

It's time to make the smart move and convert this cancer causing assets into a clean high performer. Read up here - Re-imagining the troubled train tracks as the most popular trail in America - https://coaster-rail-to-trail.org/

And yes, it reads as though you moved to where the train is. Also, locomotives weren't around 300 years ago, the original old locomotives burned coal or wood too create steam, no diesel as they do today. Yes, power from Arizona do we depend. And oh' do we depend. Some day, people will note the need for the good ol' power plant. By then, it will be too late. Tic Toc

Thats the name of the game. Otherwise, you support communism which end up like you have with China, Russia and the hunger games.

The difference is I do not support some racist newbie screaming at all us old time existing residents, that have created and kept Encinitas the loving awesome place that used to be so family orientated and like a piece of surf culture heaven, and scream at us that we are all RACIST and should GTFO to AZ so her and her new friends can come in a great home and living subsidies glory. Afterall, Why shouldn't every human on this planet enjoy an affordable home in Encinitas?

I don't support the misnomer of Affordable Housing.

IMO, of course housing is affordable in Encinitas and in very high demand because the Governor and other mayors of LA, Sante Monica, SF and such have F'd up their cities so bad the residents all want to GTFO and move to somewhere a little better. That somewhere tends to be one of the least over developed stretches of So Ca coastline called North County San Diego.

So these politicians who are supporting Newsom's plan to continue over developing all the beach cities in the name of smart growth can kiss my ass. Let areas that want to overdevelop go like downtown SD, Oceanside, Oxnard.... lets keep some areas more relaxed along the coastline like Del Mar, SB, Cardiff, Leucadia, Carlsbad, So Oside..... fuck Newsom, Fuck OC, Fuck LA, and Fuck are asswipe politicians that keep approving local codes and laws to convert to LA ASAP. BIA, Kranz and Hinze and all the past voters for supporting them when all they stand for is:
    - Converting Encinitas to LA ASAP
    - Fencing Coastal Access along all north County beaches
    - Building seawalls along all the North County beaches and eliminating our sandy beaches.

In the cases of Hinze and Blakespear it's quite a leap of faith on the parents' parts to trust that they will do the right thing with their legal ownerships.

Both are caught repeatedly in the "do as I say, not as I do" hypocrisy that defines Blakespear and her mini me Hinze in everything they do. Hinze's learning fast. They went silent after Blakespear won re-election in 2020. Verdu’s “Encinitas Politics” put themselves on “Pause” March 15th, and what do you know, Encinitas Now began posting again March 16th.

They post pictures of Encinitas surf and other news articles to draw in more members and occasionally post something related to local politics. If the constructive conversation in the comments does not go their way, they will turn commenting off quickly. Not everyone can comment, they leave several prospective members who may disagree with their narrative on “pending”. EP’s regular Omed Demiri will quickly create a new post with his “data”.

Encinitas Now states that “Admins of this group are required to be non-partisan and can't be associated with any political party, candidate, organization or measure”. Yet we only see Blakespear and Hinze posting.

    2. "Who is behind “Encinitas Now” on Facebook? Don’t ask them, they will block you."

Yea, that's what Lorri Greene likes to claim. But they did NOT block her because she asked who the admins are.

They blocked her because she posted in Encinitas Votes asking people to hack them to find out who the admins are and even offered to pay. The fact that she instigated a trolling and phishing attack on their page is why she was banned.

Lorri described it herself at the time in this post: Read it yourself here

      https://www.facebook.com/groups/EncinitasVotes/posts/3243435649075491/

      Here's what she wrote:

Lorri Greene September 10, 2020 I had a few minutes so went over to Encinitas Now and asked who was adm? The post was deleted but here is the response they sent to me and I quote "One of your members, (removing the persons name), attempted to hack our group yesterday with a targeted phishing attack at your behest. Though we don't expect anything to be done about it, we reported the attempt to Facebook". So there you have it. Take it any way you want.

    4. Lorri asked someone to "hack" a Facebook site to determine who owns Encinitas Now? Most people I know think it's self evident that Encinitas Now is Verdu's site. No hacking required. The posts and players are identical to Encinitas Politics. Verdu's major production about "pausing" his Politics site is a joke.

So who sent you to defend Verdu's honor, 11:44? Are you Scott Chatfield, demoted campaign manager to Catherine or his order-taking wife, Stephanie? Perhaps Omed on a typical rant? Someone sent you over here to try deflecting for Verdu and that's just sad.

    5. 11:44 - I just read all of that, and what you are saying is completely misleading. She didn't ask her members to "hack" EN, she asked a valid question "who runs EN" and shocking.... NO ONE answered.

"man made global warming, the man made lie"
Raising seas...where would that be??? What coast is now underwater 30 years later. Ohhhh'...that's right...
No coast. A lie then, a lie today.

  33. "What has Encinitas Now done that is so bad? I see tons of anti-Blakespear comments there, people argue and hold their own with Mali, Marco and others. It seems as if any comments are deleted or people blocked, it's because they violated the rules. Stay within the rules and you can say whatever you want there."

You forgot to add "for now." Closer to the election we can count on Mali, Marco, "Omed," Simokat, Zenick, Fox, and the rest of the mayor's explainers-in-chiefs getting out the knives - amIright? And any inconvenient truths about the mayor will be removed because that's how the Verdus roll, underneath all their protestations to the contrary.

    1. You need to update your bias. Tiffany Fox hasn't posted any political comments regarding Encinitas or Blakespear in over 2 years. Each group has a search function. Check it out for yourself.

    2. 12:08 Why in the world are people that disagree with you not allowed to comment anywhere? Disagree, let them know why, and move along, right? If you have the better (logical, convincing, fact-based) idea, it shouldn't matter who is commenting and what they're commenting on. If someone just can't bear seeing opinions of people that disagree with them, Encinitas Votes and Watchdog are there
and waiting with willing, open arms. Y'all can just agree with each other all day long and pat one another's back, then wonder why you lost another election.

    3. OK whatever, remove Fox from the mix. The rest are already rearing their protective heads on Facebook and Nextdoor. They'll be carrying the same lies as last time, but you can pat yourself on the back for a "clean" campaign. Which is beyond hilarious.

    4. It's not about Fox, but I specifically pointed that out to raise the issue that several anti-mayor/council commenters insist on constantly saying things about people they can't really know or prove. Maybe if you stopped doing that, you would actually win.

You talk about issues, but you talk about people more.

You don't know and can't prove who Omed is, so stop throwing accusations out there. It's a distraction. You don't know and can't prove Verdu is behind Encinitas Now, and that becomes another distraction.

And why is it important to you to throw names out there of people who will comment and support the mayor? How is that any different from the people who regularly comment AGAINST the mayor? They have a right to comment just like you do, true?

To someone who is neutral, you'r team's comments look just as ugly as theirs.

I've seen comments on this blog that accuse anonymous commenters of being certain people, despite the fact that can only be speculation. And I've seen people speculate about all sorts of things people have said or done.... and almost all of those people are private citizens, so why attack them for supporting who/what they believe in just as you do?

  34. By the way, Pam Slater Price has posted comments that have been just as negative as Mali's and, in fact, Slater Price has posted some racist comments against Marco in the past that make her look extremely toxic. Just pointing out that while you say people are 'rearing their protective heads on facebook and nextdoor', Bhavani Kirnak, Pam Slater Price, Leah Bissonette, Julie Graboi, Jeff Morris, Garvin Walsh, Steve Houbeck all rear their heads in an even uglier fashion

    ReplyDelete
  35. a few thoughts - Slater Price at least knows what she's talking about when she throws darts. Mali the tool is a know-nothing who takes first place in vitriolic attacks. Then plays the victim? Not working, Mali.

Garvin is a complete newbie who like Mali knows nothing but thinks his pontifications are worth hearing. They're not, they're just weird.

Morris is a loose cannon and no one but his family and a handful of the truly uninformed think he's worth their vote. Fizzle, fizzle.

Graboi would not hurt a fly that both sides can agree on so now 3:41 you are outed as a desperate liar.

None of the frustrated residents hold a candle to Omed, Marco, and Mali. None. But keep trying to claim your imaginary moral high ground.

    1. PSP of course has a ton of experience and knowledge. The issue is that she uses her powers to work towards goals that everyone doesn't agree with, aggressively. She comes off as mean and elitist, possibly on purpose. Whether that's her true personality or not, that's the impression. The other people mentioned above could also be lovely people in person, but they consistently and aggressively go after anyone that voices an opinion they don't agree with. It's usually in coordination with others mentioned here, and amounts to ganging up on anyone that doesn't agree with them to a tee. That isn't how you convince others; it's how you piss them off and create problems you didn't previously have.

    2. You mean she doesn't' mince words or hide her disdain for lying and poor decision making. This is "shoot the messenger" at its finest. Get over it, open your eyes, and get outraged at the real culprits. Then vote them out.

    3. No, that isn't what I mean 3:28. She is needlessly mean and aggressive, way beyond what is necessary to make a point. But since that's okay with you, perhaps it would be best to stop dragging people that you accuse of being mean/rude/aggressive online. Get over it.

    4. There's a comparison to be made here: one of the two knows her stuff. The other is a mouthpiece who acts like a junkyard dog in her desperate attempts to defend the mayor.

No one is being dragged "online" just referencing Mali's own words. Go take her meanness/rudeness/aggressiveness up with her if you don't like it. I'm just the messenger.

    5. One of the two lives in Encinitas now, and one of the two lived in Encinitas decades ago. That's the most important comparison, but I'm not trying to make any. I was commenting on the hypocrisy here, and how we treat one another "online".

    6. One of the two volunteered hundreds of hours of her time to help found the City of Encinitas and to help write the Encinitas General Plan. The volunteers who wrote this document provided something that the Planning Department and developers have been trying to derail for 40 years--yet it still survives. The one who help found the City went on to serve on the Planning Commission, become a City Council Member, become mayor, and County Supervisor. Barth, Shaffer, Kranz and Marco have all kissed her ass to get her support at different times because while she holds no office now, she still holds status and influence. One helped to define and protect those features treasured by residents, and the other landed here leaving behind a trail of unpaid traffic tickets with big plans of becoming an Encinitas homeowner while calling actual Encinitas homeowners racists. Her plans for getting a house seem tied to supporting our developer-friendly mayor and market-rate, high density builders themselves. In my mind, there is no comparison. One has acted in the interests of residents for 40 years and continues to do so because she still cares about the beautiful city she helped to create and the other want to be a homeowner and has told residents that her vision is the future of Encinitas and to move out and make way for her. It is really an obvious contrast.

    8. Again, no one is debating the fact the she has tons of experience and knowledge. The subject, at least for me, is treatment of others and hypocrisy. It's possible to respect someone for certain things and not others, right? I don't respect the fact that the people being discussed here complain constantly about how Mali is so incredibly horrible and mean online, when they are at least as unpleasant and many times much worse. I guess what you're saying is that PSP has earned the right to attack and belittle Encinitas residents over Encinitas concerns, and I don't agree.

    9. One person continues to fight as an unpaid volunteer at this point for the city that she helped found and the residents who she represented with distinction for many years. The other is tapping into different city resources including grant funds and taxpayer dollars that the Mayor provides to her in exchange for attacking those who are critical of the current council's performance. If Mali is investigating a problem, she should not be benefitting financial from her community service or from any personal services she might be providing Blakespear.

    10. I read Mali's victim piece on coast news and agree, people should support recovery and mental haalth programs.

I also feel Mali should own her comments about old school encinitas being Racist. Comments like that are damaging, inaccurate and hateful.

Mali as a part of your recovery, I suggest you pen an apology to Encinitas for stirring up so much hate in our wonderful community.

    11. If you "volunteer your time" and no one asked you for it, is it really volunteering? That sounds more like a hobby. As in, I live in Del Mar, but my hobby is fucking with Encinitas politics.

  36. So I read mali's victim cry and agree people should be supportive of recovery and getting help for mental illness.

What Mali left out of her piece is you have to own your comments. She left out that she came to this town a few years ago because it was a nice fairly mellow highly inclusive beach town. When Gardner was murdered in the high of the pandemic fever, Mali struck. "All you white long time residence are Privileged Racists. That right- by living here you are all way more prejudice and RACIST than I. Plus, I, Mali, have a bit of pigment in my skin so I am a shade or two darker then most of you Racist Honkeys. You fucking RACISTS if you don't like what I'm saying, pack up and move to AZ.

Well Mali, I do not agree. I have never supported racism and I live to be inclusive with every action. I think I should say and you should go. Go get some help. You need it.

    - my skin shade is darker than Mali (It should not be about color or ethnic background).

  38. Sounds like some of our local developers who live in Orange County, Coronado, Carlsbad and Rancho Santa Fe. These are the people who Mali supports because they all are working for personal gain at the expense of people already living here. Money is a huge incentive for developers--not so for PSP.

  41. I appreciate PSP trying to save Encinitas from becoming yet another crappy LA beach dump.

It made me think that Encinitas should disincorporate and get annexed into Rancho Sante Fe town council. Developers typically do not shit where they sleep and if they do they have bigger dogs to deal with. And they can pay off the Governor in perpetuity so they never have to worry about the CCC. $$$ talks, BS walks.
