Rules are for the little people.
The Encinitas City Council’s appointment of Robert Prendergast to the Planning Commission last week violated a provision of the municipal code regulating commission appointees, multiple sources have confirmed to The Coast News, confounding residents, legal experts and former city officials.
According to section D of Chapter 2.30.020 of the city’s Municipal Code, “Appointees to any city commission will not be selected from among members currently serving on any other city commission.”
However, the council on May 25 voted 4-1 to appoint Prendergast, a real estate businessman also serving as a member of the city’s Mobility and Traffic Commission, to become the new Olivenhain representative on the Planning Commission.
Kranz, along with Councilmember Kellie Hinze, Councilmember Joe Mosca and Mayor Catherine Blakespear all voted in favor of Prendergast’s appointment. Councilmember Joy Lyndes was the lone vote against.
Bravo
ReplyDelete:golfclap:
First, it's astonishing that the City Council ignored the ordinance and appointed Prendergast. But what's more indicative of the council's arrogance is that Kranz said, well, we'll just change the ordinance so we can do whatever we want.
ReplyDeleteThe appointment would still be illegal, as the appointment was made when the city by-law was in force. Changing something the law today does not alter the actions taken previously. Kranz is blatantly ignorant. Maybe he needs to go back to the Wailing Wall and repent.
DeleteDelete "something" in previous post.
DeleteAlso delete "by-law." The city has ordinances, not by-laws.
DeleteBlakespear does what she wants, when she wants it. Kranz is the dunce that thinks going back in time can erase illegal actions. Both need to be out of politics for good.
ReplyDeleteVote for Joe Kerr.
Recall Kranz
Kerr looks like the skinnier and more polished version of Kranz. I think they're related.
DeleteHow about explaining how Encinitas Votes is covering for Silent Cindy and her abuse of power on Nextdoor? Jeff Morris is the only one ACTUALLY fighting for this town while Cindy and Encinitas Votes are pulling a Blakespear by censoring him. When he tries to make the voters aware of them using the same "GESTAPO" tactics of Blakespear and her jewish nonprofits they immediately delete his posts. This is why Blakespear and her moneygrubbers are going to keep winning and Jeff is the only one that can stop them. Jeff already beat Blakespear's lawyer, the Facebook VP and lying Hinze. Nobody cares about Encinitas like Jeff does and he doesn't lose.
ReplyDeleteHow did Jeff beat “Blakespear’s lawyer, a Facebook VP, and Hinze”? What has Jeff Morris actually accomplished with these people and please be specific.
Delete8:28 - right.... "Jeff is fighting for this city." Please detail what he has ever done for Encinitas. Are talking about his weirdo video of the near-OG's homeless camp? Or his disturbing focus on anything Jewish? He is not qualified... sorry, I seek a normal candidate who will represent the spectrum of residents here in Encinitas - that is not Jeff.
DeleteJeff just doesn't have the skill set to be mayor. Sorry Jeff, crazy eyes didn't either and listen to the stories about how her end of politics went down.
DeleteIts almost as amazing as Dalakranz 1.... now we have Dalakranz 2 doing the same slippery things like excepting trips for favorable votes on land-use decisions.

DeleteSo while everyone is distracted by the ongoing shenanigans of our current mayor and city council, one of the 2022 mayoral candidate's Putinesque antics seem to go overlooked. He is posting on his campaign sites and EV, accusing his competition of blocking or removing his posts from Nextdoor and threatening action calling for them to step down from the race. Unfortunately for him he fails to understand how ND works. Per the ND Company web experts " Individual members of the Review Team(Leads and Community Reviewers) do not have the ability to remove a post on their own. All reports must be voted on by multiple members. Only ND staff may remove a post or disable an account on their own." Maybe the content of his campaign material violated the ND standards for content.
ReplyDeletethis clown Council regularly ignores laws and what's good for Encinitas.
ReplyDeleteHow about Kranz leading NCTD to fence off all the coastline through Leucadia?
Not only that instead of building a nice trail like in Cardiff and putting in a quiet zone like BIAspear did lickidy split, Kranz increases the noise and cancer causing pollution through Leucadia to decimate public health and create a barrier to walking to the beach.
WTF? Where is the outrage?
Carlsbad has instituted rules regarding e-bikes in their city. Why hasn't Encinitas done something similar? This City Council and Mayor are worthless. Blakespear is not fit for the State Senate. Her missteps, corruption and sheer arrogance show where her main interests lie - HERSELF!
ReplyDelete8:58 aka Morris now escalates his false claim against Cremona from calling her 'my lead' to 'my admin.' From his post we can now add anti-Semitic to delusional and paranoid.
ReplyDeleteJeff Morris is a delusional, incompetent lunatic. It doesn't take long paragraphs to realize and explain that.
ReplyDeleteThat photoshopped homeless pic he plastered all over social media explains it all.
ReplyDeleteTried to sleep. Went to bed at 11:00 pm, but trains basting midnight. Thanks 4:45 am fricken train horn operator who was on it the whole way through Encinitas. They have to dock the pay of those people who honk the horns and think it funny to wake up everyone along the coast with their senseless blasts. It should be, more blasts, the less pay.
ReplyDeleteThanks Tony for killing off all your old resident and making room for our deft new homeless neighbors. And polluting the lungs of all our youth. You are frinken' awesome for pushing the empty polluting death machines from 22 Coaster to 30 a day, and for fencing off all of Encinitas access to the coast and downtown. I can not believe you still have the gall to live around here after what you have done to Encinitas. Pathetic.
Karma bitch! It's coming.

Delete6:21 You make every topic about you and always say the same things. We get it. Please grow up and come up with something new and original.
DeleteI don't live near the coast, but when I go to Leucadia, the train noises are terrible. Noise is a different kind of pollution, and I have nothing but sympathy for the people who have to listen to it all day and throughout the night. Kranz's decisions have eroded the quality of life and the health of coastal residents. He sucks!
Delete8:11- There are tens of thousands of people that live and visit the coast so it is not just about me.
DeleteI agree with 9:35.
DeleteRecall Kranz Now!
If you like the coast and peace, Recall Kranz Now!
ReplyDeleteJeff Morris speaks in general terms, but never shares specifics. He says things like “I alone can fix Encinitas”, but never shares concrete ideas on how he can fix it or why “he alone” can do this. Big red flag when someone says “I ALONE”…not a team player. A good leader knows they can’t do everything alone, but are willing to surround themselves with a good team and reach out for help. We help our society TOGETHER not ALONE.
ReplyDeleteAlso, Jeff Morris is crazy. Paranoid delusions. He claims all nonprofits are scams and has a fixation on Jewish organizations. Thinks everything is a conspiracy. Says he “beat” the Facebook VP, when all he did was basically harass him. That’s what he does, harass people, post weird images online with red writing of his conspiracy theories plastered all over them. Needs mental help and therapy asap
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone believe the FRA would ever consider a local transit boards efforts, if there were any to begin with, could affect how any trains they want to run through our community?
ReplyDeleteThe FRA is not in the business to keep residents happy. The FRA will do whatever they can and run as many trains as they want no matter what a local transit board may hope for.
Hope for..... riiiiiiight.
11:57- Babble much?
DeleteJeff cannot grasp the fact that every time he opens his mouth to spout off against Cindy, he does himself no good and only accomplishes the opposite off what he intended.
ReplyDeleteJeff, try to imagine being part of a team effort to get where we all need to go in sending as many of the current council packing.
Your present campaign is misguided. You could come out of this in a much better position and respect for letting your ego go and joining the team effort. This is not your time for public office, but showing some magnanimity now could serve you well in the future.
The leopard won't change its spots. Jeff Morris does not have the brains, temperament or sanity to hold any public office.
DeleteKim Morris Jeff's wife hands out her real estate business cards on the campaign trail. You get him you get her don't believe for a minute they don't have their eyes on the development prize.
ReplyDeleteAlso hands them out at CPPs. Can’t blame her. The bum doesn’t work.
DeleteHis obsession with Cindy is very troubling and scary.
ReplyDeleteHis obsession with anyone who doesn’t agree with his altered reality is troubling!
DeleteAny vote that the Planning Commission renders will be rendered null and void, as they have a unqualified member as per the City Ordinance regarding membership. This is classic
ReplyDeleteBlakespear - do what you want regardless of the propriety, surround yourself with shills and yes people, avoid communication when scandals explode around you, have the developers send out more glossy propaganda mailers to plug the credibility leaks. Vote Joe Kerr - Blakespear needs permanent retirement with political unemployment.
Has Jeff ever said how he would solve any of the problems Enciitas faces? I have only heard him talk about the Homeless Parking Lot, homelessness in general, and Cindy. However, I don't believe I have ever heard him say how HE would fix the homeless situation and his obsession with Cindy is getting creepy.
ReplyDeleteIsn't Blakespear living in an altered reality, not the same reality that the rest of the community has to live in. We seem to have a propensity for attracting people living in alternate realities, such as that Morris fellow who is running for Mayor. I guess a vote for him would be more of the same.
ReplyDeleteYep it would be more of the same. Jeffro boasts about his 2 year track record on homelessness and the problem is worse than ever.
DeletePlus we don't need his Mrs. pushing density for $$$.
DeleteWC, would be awesome to dedicate a thread to getting the truth out in an open setting.
ReplyDeleteJeff Morris and his wife Kim alleged over the past few days that mayoral candidate Cindy Cremona deleted and blocked Jeff Morris’ political posts on the Nextdoor app. Escalating their accusations with increasingly extreme language over the past 72 hours, they posted their claims extensively on social media.
Here are the facts:
1.) Cremona as a “Welcome Team” member has no delete authority, in writing, per Nextdoor. From Nextdoor support: “Leads do not have the ability to remove neighbors, or otherwise affect a neighbor’s account in any way. Only Nextdoor’s Support team can take those actions."
2.) Jeff claims he spoke by phone with Nextdoor support to prove his claims. It is highly unlikely that he spoke with them; he needs to prove his claims in writing
3.) Jeff’s photoshopped screenshots do not constitute proof of his claims.
This is hardly the first time Morris has made a baseless claim.
He needs to stop hiding behind his private social media sites and put his proof out here in the open. In other words: put up or shut up.
If you vote for Tony, expect more of the same if not worse. I will never vote for him for anything again. Jeff is passionate about the homeless, but his approach is divisive and turns a lot of people off. Cindy is intelligent, hard-working, articulate, and ready to listen to residents. She is the only reasonable choice for Encinitas Mayor.
ReplyDeleteThank you for bringing this to our attention as watching BIAspear secure a spot on the November ballot wasn’t nauseating enough for a Tuesday evening. Sigh. I have now spent 59 minutes I will never get back sorting through Mr. Morris’s revolting online temper tantrums as of late. One could easily see he finds grand pleasure in berating smart, successful females but I can only handle so many stomach churns reading his entries.
ReplyDeleteIt must be nice to have time to burn as he spends his so unwisely, creating mockup visuals no one has asked for that he then destroys with his digital redlines. Maybe there is someone out there that would argue they drive his point home, but alas that will not be me.
Ms. Cremona’s donations, endorsements, and internet traffic must be at an all-time high and I certainly hope she is watching her analytics. If one did not know of her, Mr. Morris did a fantabulous job directing us right into her pocket. Ms. Cremona, take my money, you have secured my vote.
