Backroom Blakespear in sneaky SANDAG scheme

Coast News:
In April, the San Diego Association of Governments announced it was including the scandal-plagued and asbestos-ridden 101 Ash Street and Civic Centre Plaza buildings in downtown San Diego into its controversial 2021 Regional Plan.

However, nearly the entire SANDAG board — with the exception of Chairwoman Catherine Blakespear, Vice Chair Todd Gloria and Executive Director Hasan Ihkrata — appeared to be unaware of the deal.

Now, according to an explosive report from La Prensa San Diego, a supermajority of the San Diego City Council approved a deal during closed session for the City of San Diego to buy the 101 Ash Street building — which was abandoned more than two years earlier due to asbestos exposure and non-functional mechanical systems — to bypass at least two lawsuits brought against the city over original deal.

According to La Prensa’s report, Gloria, members of the San Diego City Council and City Attorney’s office agreed to keep the vote secret until after the June 7 primary. The media outlet reported “City Hall insiders” suspect the city will buy the property and sell it to SANDAG as part of its Central Mobility Hub.

[...]

Blakespear, Gloria and Ihkrata acknowledged their plans to Voice of San Diego, although most of the SANDAG board was unaware of the deal until after the press release had already started trickling out from media outlets.

Last month, Ihkrata said he disclosed to the board twice about the plans for the Central Mobility Hub, however the properties involved were unknown to other board members until the press release.

“In a Dec. 3 meeting, we had a deep discussion,” Carlsbad Mayor Matt Hall said at the April board meeting. “Chairwoman Blakespear promised. Mayor Gloria, too. Mayor Gloria said this board would be part of the process. All of a sudden, it’s in the paper and SANDAG is moving forward at warp speed. I’m very disappointed.”

Corruption doing everything possible to silence free-speech, and supports building the homeless industry instead of helping people down on their luck, Joe Kerr and Matt‘s campaign managers need to get some press releases out and media propaganda out to the voters to educate district 39 voters of the horrendous corrupt actions of candidate Blakespear.

  3. This is classic Blakespear - backroom deals, exclusion of contrary opinion or input, self-dealing and tone deaf to participation of others. This has been her style as mayor and also with SANDAG. She refused to address the credit card spending scandal with SANDAG, as she was undoubtedly neck deep in it. She does not deserve to be elevated tot he State Senate, as she is corrupt and beholding only to those who reward her for serving their interests (BIA). She will be laying low and intensifying the propaganda in the closing days of this primary - she will not want to face the public or her opponents, as she has nothing to offer but lies and subterfuge.

    1. For those that don't know...no one can ban a gun made from a kit, why?, no one knows where it is.
It's simply a gun without a serial number and not registered. It's not magic. Now, for those that don't know, thousands of guns are pouring across (over and under) the Southern border along with the drugs from all over the world. Just in Imperial Beach, pangas wash up on shore with "stuff" in it. Wake up. The left has screwed this country over. So blakespear hasn't banned anything. Anyone can buy parts from all of the world...and make a gun.

    2. Funny you would bring up illegals. These illegals of late have more of an Indian/Mexican face. Perhaps from South America? I happen to know some are living in the canyon across from my residence. I don't want to purchase a gun but I'm afraid there may be no choice. I'm not stating they are bad people but if hungry, things may take a turn for the worse.

    3. You are right - these immigrants come from further southern regions. Climate change has altered cropping patterns, gangs dominate/intimidate the crumbling social strata, so they are running for survival. Even the most civilized citizen could do things they thought being incapable of if faced with a dire situation. Let's hope it doesn't get to that point. There is no dishonor in possessing a gun; it is all in the discrimination of how it is used.

  17. Observer, I believe you’re correct that that is Tony‘s mission.

Tony seems very focused on fencing off all of coastal access and putting the 6 million Dollar city council has to fund a new community center by D St. so his 20 Karen watercoloring friends can have a new community center closer to their house that will cost tax Paris millions and millions of dollars to operate maintain.

They don’t want to have to drive to our existing huge community center over on Bloor Street. And The hate all the homeless in the parking lot.

We need to get Tony Kranz out of office ASAP. Stands for pushing dense section 8 housing throughout the city, installing fencing instead of pathways, increasing the train noise and pollution so that our residents get sick and their children get lung cancer, and converting pathway areas to parking lots for private apartments landlords. That is not my kind of council person.

  19. The latest of Tony's actions killing the coastline-

The commenter sums it up best- Leucadia residents protest fencing, lack of rail crossing

What has Tony Kranz, who wants to be our next Mayor, done to facilitate safe crossings in Leucadia? It takes a long time to get safe crossings processed? Tony has had TEN years serving this district! Instead, as chairman for NCTD, Tony decided on the fencing separating his district’s residents. Unlike Del Mar, who knew this would be detrimental to its residents and fought back. Lazy or incompetent, he doesn’t seem to prioritize good decisions for his district, imagine him as Mayor?

Then you have the crazy mind destroying and cancer causing increased empty diesel train service that Tony pushed from 22 trains a day to 30 trains a day. NCTD will also be receiving 10 expansion bi-level passenger coaches, and one replacement rail cab with the hope of increasing train frequencies from 22 to 42 trains per average weekday over the next three to five years. The San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) is funding the expansion equipment with nearly $58.8 million in funding. "“There are a lot of priorities in this county and $50 million is a lot of money, and there were some on the SANDAG board who were wondering if this was really a good investment,” Blakespear said. “It fell to members like me and Councilmember Kranz, and a lot of other advocates and staff members at the agencies to say that if we want to have good transit we have to invest in the trains themselves.”

So many more deaths that people are normalized by the action.
Our City's position, "...we know the train death areas are no where close to the areas we are fencing, but hey face it, we aim to fence off and close all coastal access and build seawalls along our coast whenever we get the chance.", and "Oh two more people mowed down by the death train. No big deal."

This same idiot now asks what is an assault weapon. Hopeless.

How many kids have to be murdered in schools before a certain party allows these military grade assault weapons to be banned? They not are used for hunting. They are not much of a target gun either by their very nature. They are however perfect for killing. That is what their design is all about. Their ammo does quite a number on the organs and body interior that handguns do not. Literally exploding our insides, instead of passing through. These killing machines are in the hands of the population?

Australia banned them when they had a mass shooting. New Zealand banned them when they had a mass shooting.

We are the only country in the world where this happens. Doesn't that make you so proud of a certain party that resists any gun legislation? Our votes are our voice. What do you want your voice to stand for?

Why the hell are wars being fought with hollow points that tear up flesh and kill everybody? They should outlaw all but guns that have flags pop out the end.

I think everybody with common sense knows that outlaw and does not work anyway. drugs have been outlawed for centuries and they are always plentiful. Same as prostitution. Same as undocumented labor. Making something illegal does nothing to limit its supply. Just take a drive down in Mexico with a brand new Toyota truck between Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta in the middle of the night…. When the Bandidos pull you over and rape your women and take all of your equipment and trucks, remind them that their guns are illegal.

    1. Blakespear has avoided addressing the SANDAG credit card scandal, refusing comment to the media inquiries. Stands to reason that she was one of those in possession of a credit card and used it liberally. $2.5 million in questionable and probably fraudulant expenditures, yet no follow up or repercussions for
those responsible. This constitutes a cover-up of the misuse of taxpayer funds. Do you want someone like Blakespeart in charge of even greater amounts of taxpayer money? Vote Joe Kerr - an honest individual.

  35. It's worse than most people know. Not only water but...
ELECTIRCITY. Most of it comes from out of state.
The leftist warmer ding bats pushed to have every power plant closed in San Diego County...they got their wish.
And for you bozos that think electric cars are the answer to the worlds problems...good luck with that.

  36. Not sure who you’re calling bozo? I Ama by no means socialist. Lean way towards the constitution of the United States.

Electric vehicles just makes sense. No fuel costs no maintenance costs or time wasted pouring pollutants into your tank and into the world or wasting hours changing oil and other maintenance for such wasteful combustion engines did I mention quiet - Quiet. Ha ha. Something you don’t hear in Encinitas.

Way faster than hydrocarbon burning engines. I’m saving thousands and thousands of dollars an hour is an hours per year driving a much better car than your piece of shit.

Oh sorry is it a $200,000 new Porsche piece of shit? So sorry Karen!

  39. Aw man, Gonzo just cannot zip his lip over on Verdu's Facebook page. You'd think Verdu had had enough backlash from his neighbors to back away from mixing Blakespear's apologists, but apparently he's back for more. Gonzo becomes more absurd with every post.

  41. The latest flagrant abuse of power is the illegal appointment of Prendergast to the Planning Commission. City Municipal code prohibits the appointment of anyone already serving on a city commission, which Prendergast was. Kranz admits the illegality of the appointment, but now says they should retroactively change the Municipal code to make it legal! Unbelievable stupidity! It shows the sheer arrogance and disregard of rules by Blakespear - she does what SHE wants and disregards any other approach. Even Jerome Stocks is bagging on her corruption! Vote Joe Kerr - Blakespear does not deserve the State Senate position, where she will only get worse!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Any vote by the planning commission would be invalid with Prendergast present. This could be challenged and result in lawsuits or other punitive counter measures. Again., Blakespear exposes the City to liability. The Attorney on retainer for the City has apparently recused themselves from comment - are they on the take too? The entire City Council is inefficient and incompetent and bow to her Majesty Blakespear's tryranny. Not only should Blakespear NOT advance tot he State Senate, the entire City Council needs to be replaced. Kranz leads the list - he is an idiot and makes Dalager looks like a MENSA candidate.

  45. Did Blakespear have one of the many SANDAG credit cards that were used and abused? If so, will she reveal all the charges that she made with it? Will she ever come clean? The odds makers say "Not on your life!" Do you want someone like this representing "you" in the State Senate? She deals for herself and the BIA.

    1. No wonder she is ducking explanations - she is implicated in the illegal spending.

      Delete
    2. No action taken on the $2.5 million in charges on the SANDAG credit cards. Many charges were flagged as being used for personal expenditures and there were deliberate attempts were made to conceal the charges. Blakespear refused to be interviewed by the media on this issue, which is an indication that she has something to hide. Did she have and use one of these credit cards? If so, will she release the history of her expenditures? The likelihood of her coming clean - ZERO!
