Jeff Charles Morris, who finished third with 6,969 votes in November’s mayoral race, was detained at approximately 6:45 p.m. on Dec. 25 at his residence in the 600 block of Poinsettia Park in Encinitas, according to Sheriff’s Department Lt. Chris Lawrence.
Morris potentially faces several felony charges, including inflicting corporal injury on a spouse/cohabitant and two charges related to unlawful restraint of an individual using violence. Lawrence confirmed that Morris was booked into county jail on Christmas and released the following day on a $50,000 bond.

His behavior was out of control and they kept interacting with him in such a way that it continued to boost his ego. The way they treated him in the early days paved the way for his mayoral run and his increasingly erratic behavior. When I worked with Domestic Violence, the first thing we asked a man (it was usually men) was "Where did you learn to hit a woman?" Usually it came from their backgrounds and no one stepped in. That is what happened here as well. Google "Cycle of Violence" if you want to partially understand how this happened. And remember, many of you on this blog conspired as well. DeleteI know Bob Nichols, he’s a friend of mine, spoke with him several weeks ago on a group call. He dropped out of the case as a plaintiff against Blakespear, several weeks ago. He’s done! So there are 4 Plaintiffs now fighting Blakespear. He’d had enough fighting from what I could tell. He felt good about the outcome of Blakespear having to open her page to public commentary and was getting tired of the fighting. He did say he believes the plaintiffs will prevail in court, if it gets that far, given the recent findings from the courts in similar cases, judges frowning on politicians interfering with free speech and the large amount of evidence pointing to Blakespear actually violating the terms of the settlement agreement. He gave several examples of Blakespear violating the terms of the agreement. One that I found interesting was that when Blakespear signed the confidentiality section of the agreement, she knew she’d have to violate the settlement agreement because she paid using campaign funds and therefore she would have to publicly report and disclose the settlement amount, $5,000 on a form that has to be publicly filed. So therefore Blakespear violated the settlement agreement. If she’d paid using her own funds, she wouldn’t have had to disclose the terms and wouldn’t have violated the confidentiality clause. Anyone who stands up for the people’s First Amendment and forces a politician to do the right thing is a hero in my book. Good job Nichols and Plaintiffs.

Our Parks Department, Jennifer Campbell and Crystal Roff, have mistreated many event organizers over the years, as you can see from the articles above.
It’s no surprise that Bob is just one of the many that have had serious issues with the parks departments billing practices over the years.
The good news is, the City Parks was caught by an independent auditor of over billing Bob’s SM by $22K in permit fees since 2013 and misappropriating nearly $34K in donations to the city’s general fund.
So, if I was in Bob’s shoes I’d be a little pissed off, abusive, threatening and harassing to city staff as well.
I sat on SM’s board with Bob for nearly 5 of his 10 or 11years, he did a good job. Yea he could be a bit tough at times, maybe an asshole on race day, but he did a great job, creating the Guinness Book of World Records largest beach run in the world and a world renowned half marathon, bringing people from across the country to Encinitas and having an economic impact to the local businesses in the several millions.
He turned art on a wall into an organization that will continue to operate and provide aquatic programming for special needs youth and persons with disabilities for many years to come. So you can say what you want about him, but could you have done what he did? - TC
