10A.Agenda item to terminate the term of Bruce Ehlers from the Encinitas Planning Commission effective immediately.  Contact Person:  Mayor Blakespear and Council Member Kranz

  1. Wow - unbridled political attack on a potential opponent! Using their incumbent status as a base from which to launch an attack is the most egregious abuse of office. Blakespear and Kranz are unfit to "serve" in any capacity. I hope the voters take note of this lack of civic character on the part of these two.

  2. All the more reason to vote Blakespear out of political existence and recall Kranz. Their allegiance to big monied interests has never been more evident with this outrageous political attack.. Blakespear is showing her true colors and desperation now - citizens need to take a stand and rid the political arena of these two sell outs!

  3. Every chance he gets Kranz votes to destroy Encinitas. He sure makes me sick that I voted for him the first time. I voted against him in the last election and he barely won.

    Dalakranz promotes LA barf.

Kranz = LA beach dump and loss of coastal access. Let recall Kranz NOW!

    2. Um, against an unknown who was not able to get out and campaign hard - not to mention the Caitlin Steinberg/Marco/Mali/Blakespear team were hard at work burying the contender with the usual bank of lies and innuendo.

  4. Keep it up, Blakespear! This is another failed attempt pivot away from the mess you have made of this city and your failed leadership at SANDAG. You are proving once again that beside being incompetent that you are spineless and vindictive. Kranz is just along for the ride since he also wants someone else to take the heat and the attention away from his jaw-dropping stupidity and his pandering for bribes.

  5. Ask Blakespear about the spending abuse at SANDAG. She is unreliable, dishonest, vindictive and two-faced. She serves only her political donors and has attempted to crush citizen participation in the crucial decisions about their community development. She has to be defeated In November and put into obscurity.

  6. Decapitate is an interesting choice of words. Coincidence that Dementia Del Mar Pam called for beheading the Mayor in response to this article?

    1. 9:51 that word has been passed among residents since the news broke. Sounds like you will benefit personally from Ehlers gone and "staff," directed behind the scenes by the developer-funded Blakespear, calling the shots.

Can't wait to see who she chooses to replace Ehlers. Mali Woods-Drake? Marlon Taylor? Spouse Omed Demiri? Making the popcorn.

  7. Make no mistake. "Professional staff" member Roy Sapau has been whining that Ehlers has made his life of serving developers harder since Ehler's pointed out to him that the he supports the Planning Commission and not the other way around. Sapau told the Planning Commission that he couldn't perform hid paid duties on account of "work load." The City's response was to give Sapau a promotion. They reward poor work and have their knives out for people who work hard and represent actual Encinitas residents. Get rid of Blakespear, Kranz and take Sapau with them!

  10. Stop by the street fair today and tell BIAspear, Dalakranz, and Oh Joy what a great job they are doing at destroying Encinitas.

I can not believe Joy actually will be seen with these two losers.

    4. 11:53 - I've seen that picture. BIA was kissing the developoers butt and Kranz didn't want to get outdone since the crappy development was in his district so he stuck his whole fat head up the developer's ass!

      What a team!

    1. You're attempting to speak for all Encinitas voters, and that is a mistake. You're going to have to convince the rest of us that don't obsess over and hate the current council. Talking the same shit about the same people probably isn't going to work, because we don't all have the same ideals as "long time residents" (as if only those people have deep roots in the city), plus that approach was a complete failure in 2020.

      Delete
    2. Isn't that Kranz you're talking about? Deep roots? Deep Ecke/Meyer roots?

Last time the mayor, her hubby, Kron had Covid to cover themselves and the Coast News carrying their water. This time not so much....

  13. Oh yeah - while your at the street fair tell Blakespear and Kranz you are really looking forward to paying another 1.5% sales tax and 4.0 cents a mile for driving on roads in the near future. I didn't think things were expensive enough now anyway, I look forward to paying more for every purchase in the near future. Thanks to the team that is making things happen- Higher Prices, closing access to the beaches, and Destroying Encinitas! Nice!

    3. Only after the public freaked out. It would not have been "dropped" if the pressure to do so had not been so great.

    4. Pay/tax per mile was dropped publicly, but not removed from the plan. SANDAG has plans to bring it back.

  14. 1:55- Nice! That will bring us up to the sky high tax rate of LA and look how nice LA is! Beautiful tent cities, section 8 housing, pollution everywhere... people peeing and pooping all over the place near the tent Cities. I am so glad BIA and Dalakranz are working hard to make us more like LA everyday!

So add another 1.5% to our existing 7.75% will give us 9.25%. Winner Winner Chicken Dinner.

I hope you have tons of savings and discretionary money, you are going to need it after November. Now go give your paycheck to BIAspear's tax collectors and wait in line for your assigned section 8 bed and then you can get in the bread line. BIAspear's government will provide your bread and bedroll.

    ReplyDelete
  17. 6:32 and 11:39 - I wish! Thats exactly what they want you to think. Like so many other things with BIAspear things are not as she signals.

When her team at SANDAG approved the bus and new train plan in December, because of huge public protest, the Blakespear and Mayor Gloria buckled at the last minute and the team said they didn't support the road charge but then they turned right around and approved the plan with the road charge included. Blakespear and Kranz have been supporting the road charge and three other tax hikes for over a year.

Then right after they approved the plan with the road charge included, they approved a motion to re-evaluate a revised plan at a later date without the road charge.

Well guess what, the evaluating the plan at a later date never happened. So today, the plan included the roadcharge.

    Check it out for yourself

Look at the huge taxes they are proposing - https://sdforward.com/docs/default-source/final-2021-regional-plan/appendix-v---funding-and-revenues.pdf?sfvrsn=e3c3fd65_2

This is Blakespears plan to build the failed CA bullet train approach throughout San Diego. I swear. That woman must not use one ounce of the grey matter God gave her between her ears.

Blakespear - Wake up! The CA bullet train was a big flop and you are a big flop. and Kranz is even more brain dead.

You two should do something you are good at like wondering around mommy's home trying to figure out how to recycle all of your amazon boxes into compost or electricity.

    1. Blakespear will do or say anything for her self-promotion to higher office..But she will always do the bidding of her political donors, consequences be damned. She has exposed her real motives often enough to realize that she is untrustworthy and should be expelled from politics.

      Delete
    2. The key word is "proposing." The public will reject the plan.

      Delete
    3. I think you are right, but the sneaks are at it and love the double talk and trick the voters.

The latest- SANDAG is not even putting forward their own transnet tax to support their own plan, they are leaving that to the unions through a voter initiatives, because the unions apparently want to build trains to nowhere for $168 billion. A voter initiative lowers the voting requirement to 2/3 vote to simple majority 50% +1.

That action in itself seems to miss the mark for a governing body supporting or not supporting a government initiative, but we will see were the lawsuits land.

Secondly, What ass-wipes would even come up with this plan?

Someone that bends the truth as much as BIAspear -

“There will not be any request for any sales tax without this board approving,” Ikrata said. “Whatever a third party does is their business. We’re not involved. We cannot be involved. We won’t be anywhere close to that. But you’re absolutely right, this board will be the final say on whether we go to the voters or not and the voters will be the final jury on whether this passes or not.”

Bailey was not pleased. The Politics Report spoke with him Friday. To him, either the board was letting someone else control a process it should influence, or the board was actively influencing the process, which would mean it is not really a citizen’s initiative.

“Refusing to even consider an agenda item on a supposedly essential new funding source is, at best, a dereliction of the board’s responsibility. At worst, it’s potentially illegal as it has the appearance of circumventing election law since it relies on a third party to carry SANDAG’s water and raise taxes as the plan requires,” he said.

  19. My personal observation, and that it all it amounts to is, some of the potential saviors I support refuse to come out and publicly support an opposition to the current majority for the mayor.

Jeff or Cindy? I would have thought that would be an easy choice. Not so. Apparently.

I could not care less whether these candidates lean toward the right or the left. This is local to me.

While I respect the passion it takes to run, I also have an undying respect for the greater good.

Easy enough for me to say. I am not running for anything.

Enough said. You can decide which mayoral candidate will serve our community the best. I know who I hope for to come out on top and I am not in anyones camp and never have been.

  23. OK... so Kranz would be worse. Far Worse if you can even imagine that.

My big question will be who is so stupid enough or paid off to even support Kranz and put a sign up in front of their house?

I can not wait to see. They will have the Scarlett letter for joining the team to destroy Encinitas.

If the Encinitas fire Union supports Kranz, I will hate them forever. It will shoq they care nothing about the city only about their selfish pensions. I supported them when they resisted the city requiring mandatory stick.

Of course developers will support Kranz. For them it's all about profit.

I can not wait to see the first reporting period for Kranz contributions. Lets see your support base Kranz. We will also be watching Enc/Leucadia Town Council lawns. Let watch the sell outs!

This will be fun. Raise your hand, who loves LA and shutting down coastal access?

  28. Even smart Democrats know that the plan BIAspear and Kranz suppports makes absolutely no sense.

There are three tax proposals in the plan, including two from SANDAG taking effect in 2022 and 2028, and San Diego Metropolitan Transit System’s measure for the 2024 ballot, Meier said. The three would total a 1.5-cent increase in sales taxes and generate an estimated combined $28.2 billion in revenue, according to SANDAG’s funding plan. The road user charge would add another $14.2 billion.

Meier said the citizen’s initiative calls for a majority of funds directed to capital expenditures with 50% on transit projects, 27% for road and highway flow, 12% on transit operations, 7% for local streets and roads, 2% for rail and transit maintenance and 2% on administrative services.

However, several board members and public speakers urged caution with this plan, including Del Mar Councilwoman Terry Gaasterland and Mike Bullock, a former vice president of the Democratic Club of Carlsbad and Oceanside.

Gaasterland said the board should take a step back “and look at what’s going on here,” noting the measure is complex.

“I don’t understand it and I’ve read it five times,” Gaasterland said. “If the SANDAG board prepares a measure like this one, there is a higher likelihood of a two-thirds vote if we do it together instead of a 50% for private interests.”
