    1. 6:17- If you saw his FB posts from when he went, you will see he could figure out what is going on there and how to solve their issues. Makes you wonder since the "issues" have been going on a very, very, long time. Also makes you wonder how delusional he maybe and how "dare i say stupid" he is as well. He took the developer deal and unless we get rid of him in 2024, Encinitas will become a developers paradise. So, who will run against him is the problem. Morris did not make it easy for any candidate except Kranz to win last time. Morris has said he is going to run again. Time will tell on that one.

  5. Dunce- Leucadia and all of Encinitas is watching. If you cave to these nimbys yet you keep your fence blocking historic coastal access, you are completely full of SHIT.

I already know you will cave and you are A PIECE OF SHIT.

Kranz needs to be run out of TOWN!

  13. Joy, try being succinct. Try it. You public would appreciate the consideration.

Is it in your ability to say what is needed without all the qualifications that don't mean a thing, except to you?

Good to see the Crest folks and their neighbors made a difference tonight. Miracles can happen.

You got promoted by the voters and moved on to bigger and better things years ago, but you cultivated and mentored a permanent majority to continue your legacy, and the haters can’t stop talking about you.

    2. From the short fact/data based article everyone should read:

      "
The continuing losses of San Francisco’s economic base are a symptom of a city that has become politically dysfunctional and is perceived by people and businesses to be dangerous and unworkable. And these losses will continue until those who govern San Francisco make different choices regarding the very related issues of drug abuse, homelessness, and crime".

    3. That would be compelling is there wasn’t a national glut of vacant office space due to a pandemic health emergency and a shift to working from home.

If you think this is a San Fran problem, then you are dumber than we imagined.

How did you even figure out how to comment here?

    5. And FYI, the biggest problem with SF has to do with the location of the homeless population, ie it's right downtown in the middle of the business and tourist district, not on the fringes like in DTLA or even SD. If you think SD has a total grip on a smooth running city, think again.....

    6. Maybe. But we have zero goats in the city Council and BIA was the opposite of a goat.

More like an entitled, whiter than white racist bitch who never did a real days job, and surrounding herself by her whiter than white husband, and her whiter than white compound in Cardiff.

She’s pretty much just like our shitty governor. Wider than white and dispose a bunch of bullshit and the stupid bleeding heart voters support them. Both of them are probably the worst ever.

    9. 10:18,

An article from a right wing source that took a stat that is happening nationwide-vacancy rates on office space are universal—and then tried to spin it that it’s unique to San Francisco and political.

      It’s not, and it isn’t.

Truth is, the leased vacancy rate is at a record 16% nationwide, meaning 16% is currently not being leased. But it’s much worse than that. Many companies have 5-10 year leases but many of leased office spaces sit empty as people work from home. So the real vacancy rate is closer to 50%. As leases expire, many companies will shrink or eliminate their leased space, and the 16% will move closer to the 50% number.

When you go into a city and see a skyscraper with a bank logo on top, that’s not usually full of bank offices. It’s a building owned by the bank as an income generating investment of customer deposits.

My advice is to study up on this kind of exposure and be careful where you invest and hold uninsured deposits.

This was a hack article by a right wing skewed source that completely missed the real story, root cause, and how it will affect their readers.

San Francisco Falls Further into the Abyss as Office Values Plunge 75 Percent

The former Union Bank building in the heart of San Francisco’s financial district, located at 350 California Street, was auctioned off last week. The winning bid was $65 million, roughly 75 percent less on a per-square-foot basis than comparable building sales from just before the pandemic.

Developer Eric Tao noted that permitting and other city fees, together with the city’s affordable housing requirements, are so costly that the purchase price of the building would need to drop to less than $100 per square foot, compared to the purchase price of $225 per square foot for 350 California, to economically justify a residential conversion.

To put Tao’s estimate in context, I note that the cost of housing per square foot in Biloxi, Mississippi, one of the poorest cities in the country, with a median household income that is 60 percent below that of San Francisco, is $139 per square foot. And this is for a city that is not only poor but is chronically at risk of major flooding, which raises insurance costs and reduces home values. Yes, the math is completely upside down regarding commercial-to-residential conversions in San Francisco. But the city’s Board of Supervisors doesn’t seem to understand this yet, and until they do, the dream of converting commercial space to residences will remain just that.

You can attack all you want but the reality is SF will most likely never regain it former glory and Los Angeles is not far behind. LA is ranked 2nd largest citry in the US. If you add San Jose to SF (which is reasonable to do) they are in the top 5.

If you haven't noticed all that money has been relocating locally and bringing the shitty politics with it.

The trend is not your friend

    1. 7:00am…. Your momma raised an idiot. It’s not illegal crossing a railroad. Those pathways have existed for thousands of years. Tony’s fence is blocking our ancestral pathways.

You and Tony are both idiots and you’re glad you’re even able to survive in the US. In the animal kingdom, he would’ve been dead right after birth.

You’re stupid as hell. They wouldn’t be getting tickets if dumbass Tony didn’t fence or historical pathways.

      Is much better path forward.

The San Diego Coaster train is at a major crossroads due to the requirement that the train be moved off a 2 mile stretch of track on the Del Mar bluffs that are unstable due to accelerating cliff erosion. The proposed rerouting of the train via a tunnel under Del Mar is a massive multibillion dollar risk that is unwarranted given the train's small ridership and the disruptive transportation technologies that are set to make the train even more obsolete in the near future.

Alternatively, a repurposing of the underutilized rail line into a greenbelt/walk/bike trail is a major sustainability opportunity that has numerous co-benefits that include clean & local commuting, healthier living, greater flexibility in dealing with future sea level rise, substantially lower costs.

NCTD only bought the RR right-of-way in the 1990s and made it an issue just this last year when The Dunce as Chair of NCTD fence Encinitas and is fencing all of Del Mar. Everyone’s freely crossed that area for thousands of years. Not illegal and no tickets. Tell the hundreds of people that crawl over and the old people eating shot every day because of Tony.

Kranz knows he fucked up and fired himself as Chair in December of 2022.

    11. I think you should put your money where your mouth is.

Go test your novel legal theory in court. (Ask a lawyer if “novel” is a good thing).

Step 1: repeatedly cross the tracks in front of Sheriffs until you get a ticket for trespassing. Make sure you argue with the officers and tell them it can’t be trespassing because the controlling entity is a public sector agency.

Step 2: Find a lawyer who will take your novel case on a contingency basis, or find a patron to underwrite your case.

Step 3: Challenge the trespass ticket in front of a judge. Tell the judge that public sector agencies cannot control access to their property, and therefore trespassing isn’t possible. Use airports, military bases, nuclear test sites, and the judge’s own chambers as examples to make your case.

Step 4: When you lose, appeal. Repeat until the Supreme Court decides whether or not to consider your novel legal theory.

Step 5: come back here and tell us how you changed hundreds of years of precedent.

Step 6: to celebrate your victory, invite everyone to go for an unannounced walk across the “public” runways at MCAS Miramar.

      Delete
    12. 1:14- My Lord, you are stupid. Were you born that way derp, derp, or did your momma drop you on your head too many times?

I don’t need to test any legal theory, the old unused dysfunctional railroad’s going away and we’re gonna have a nice public trail to enjoy.

I can understand how the white man in the 1800s thought a highly Polluting railroad on the beach blocking all the lagoons and the river mouths and preventing sand to migrate an nourish our beaches. In the 1800s they thought it was a good idea considering they’re mowing over Native Americans and not Europeans.

Hence, we move forward 140 years and it turns out no one rides highly polluting, commuter trains because they’re so freaking slow and completely unsafe. Many of them have turned into heroin and fentanyl homeless shelters. Commuters won’t go near them.

      https://www.governing.com/community/l-a-metro-ridership-declines-as-drug-use-crime-soars?_amp=true

Our local Coaster program is complete failure. Costs to operate that shitty program cost over $100 subsidy per ride, and it completely wastes millions of dollars and pollutes our communities, including the young lungs of our children.

You can kick and scream all you want. Technology has changed and made the polluting commuter rail no longer functional.

The rest of us will enjoy seeing this long awaited conversion like so many other areas around the country that have beautiful trails were old low performing railroad lines are no longer functional.

Have a good day derp derp. 😘

    13. I declare absolute victory.

Your wishes about the future are non-responsive to the present issue of whether public agencies have the legal right to trespass people on their land, especially if there are demonstrable hazards that have caused death and injury to trespassers.

Your wishes for the future are irrelevant to that issue.

      I win.

    14. 601 – awesome. You win against yourself.

We will all win when that dysfunctional shitty polluting tax wasting Coaster service ends, and we have a beautiful pathway that serves our public interest and the community much much better.,

  16. Turney pitching for Ehlers on EV. I have it on good authority Ehlers is waiting to see what Kranz does before deciding. Sounds familiar. If anyone thinks the incumbent is giving up his seat easily, better think twice. He may be lazy, but Tony will use anyone (like he did Thunder and Walsh) to avoid the work, but win. He’s also an incumbent with the Democratic machine behind him.

There will be spoilers. Probably not Morris. He’s got a TRO in place and he’s moving, but there will be others. Ehlers had a tough fight with 4 in his race and did not win strongly.

    2. That's because Turney is a political fool but fortunately Ehlers is not. There's good chance he will be Mayor some day. However he isn't stupid enough to bail a year into his first 4 year term forcing an expensive special election or giving the progressive majority another appointed seat. He will continue doing what he's doing, showing the city what a great councilman he is, building his brand and giving the appearance of distancing himself from radioactive residents like Turney and Thunder.

    1. One has to wonder if the council has ever been to Manhattan Beach. That is the LAST place we should use a model for anything in our city.

At least the council was educated on 05/10 on the Piraeus Point project.

Lennar - "Please give us land to accommodate our need to excavate and remove 50,000 yards of dirt."

Lennar - "Overflow parking? We will have 25 extra spots and 6 will have EV chargers."

Lennar - "It is unfeasible to support the safe routes to school program with this project"

    2. Lennar - You know we are a developer right?

You know developers focus on maximum profit, and

we say and do anything to achieve those results, right?, and

You know we could care less about Encinitas or whatever they hell the name of your town is, right?

You know we hire locals who will say or do anything to achieve our goals like locals previously on the traffic commission, local attorneys that used to say they cared about the environment, Council members and Mayor's will to except trips and gifts for favorable votes right?

      So whats the issue?

Shouldn't you be focused on those locals and politicians that regularly sell out your precious town with your perceived character?

Community Character - Ha. I call that profit bonus.

Valle Moonlight, Beacon's Point, Swamis de Del Mar, Seaside Villas, Casa de Stone Steps..... all names for our developments to monetize your local character. Ha. Its so simple and as they say, "It's all about the money".

Just ask your local former commissioners, local attorneys, and councilmembers making $$$$ supporting our projects.

Bye Bye and please try to enjoy your "precious" town densifying and becoming like Manhattan Beach as we build our profit$$$$$$$$$$$$
