Excellent, informative, and balanced article by the Advocate's Jared Whitlock here.

  1. Gaspar showing where her loyalties lie - the developers.

  2. 3:38-was that a surprise to you? I was surprised that she didn't vote NO last week. Let's face it. She is in the Rotary and a lot of those people are developers. Of course, she knows where her bread is buttered, and Encinitas is only a stepping stone for her for some higher office. The reason so many pro-Gaspar fans showed up the night that the troika was attempting to go back on their deal of 1/2 year Teresa as Mayor and 1/2 year, Kristin as Mayor, is because the SDRostra put out a call via Jerome Stocks that "Kristin needs our help". Lots of good information over not he other site, if you want to know what they are up to.

    1. 1 question for you - what planet do you live on? Rotary now belongs to the big developers and Jerome has a large following. Can you be more silly?

    3. Gaspar will never be elected to higher office hanging around with Stocks, Andreen, Meyers and Harwood- they only care about local profits and a puppet- this was on display last night with her foolish comments about what furniture low income people and can or can not buy, and the role government should play in the furniture people buy- which is the government should have no role.

She's hanging with the wrong folks and would be good for her to break away but doubt she will- Stocks never went anywhere and and ended up a big fish in a little pond who eventually got filleted

    4. "The reason so many pro-Gaspar fans" - Mom, Kid, husband who made the receptionist a CFO, and a few employees equals so many…

      Ummm - OK?

  3. A more interesting review of last nights council meeting would be shaffers news letter to her fans.. Her husband perhaps?? Anyway it's both insulting and a laugh riot written as only a life bureaucrat with 3 pensions could.

    1. Where do you find her "news" letter? Don't say FaceBook, as I don't go there. Yea, Shaffer has been a career parasite - working off the taxpayers' dole.

    2. Send your request to lisa@shaffer4council.com
It's free, the only thing it costs you is time. Of which Lisa " I didn't ask for a tax increase, but I did ask for parking meters" has plenty.

    3. 6:14- I get Lisa's letter via email. As 6:23 pointed out, all you have to do is ask and she will add you to her list of people she sends it out to. She usually sends it out after a Council meeting, or for sure the next day. And, they are always "interesting".

Preaches Social behavior for other people like living within means and sustainability in harmony with earth, yet totally ignores it in her own life. Look at were she lives Encinitas Ranch- Big Boxes raping the landscape. Pathetic. Like her leadership- Pathetic.

  6. Shaffers news letter---
Let's cut it up into little pieces, because little pieces are easier to chew and digest, and small pieces mean you won't choke and gag and puke up your dinner .
" the council met for over 8 hours". Yup you read that correctly , the council met for over 8 hours.... And you wonder why " real" people don't run for elected office. Everyone I know has to. " work ", they don't have. 8 hours to sit and listen to bullshit that goes on and on and on. Nor would any real person tolerate 8 hours of bullshit. Shame on Shaffer and the others for complete lack of control and poor management practices. Idiots .

Street Improvement Standards- this is a winner... " to move away from required concrete...function based design set of standards ...new projects fit in better with existing neighborhoods..... What council woman Shaffer is saying here is that if you DON 'T have concrete curbs sidewalks and gutter you will never have them because living like the 3rd world is more in " character" of your community. How sad and pathetic. Ms Shaffer, I don't want to live in a 3 rd world country, most of the world is 3rd world if you think it's so quaint please move there ASAP . I'm sure you will enjoy walking the dirt pathways and taking your life in your hands everytime you venture out of your home .

Pacific View-a "few outstanding issues that need to be resolved "- yeah like how you are going to pay for it ????? You might want to tell us, we are the ones who's pockets you are reaching into and stealing from .

Invasive Plant Policy- 7 year process... Again you read that correctly. 7 years , only govt could take. 7 years to create a " policy". Councilwoman Shaffer does realized we fought and defeated both the Nazis and Japan in WW2 in less than 4 years .... It was sent back for more " information ". Next expected date for this information to come before the council is 2021.

That's it for now, her newsletter is best accepted in small doses. I'll come back tomorrow , if I can stomach it .

    2. 8 hours is a joke. I could have made better decisions in 30 minutes.

First 10 minutes - Tell Vina and Sabine the reasons they failed in their positions and give the their pink slips.

10-15 mins. - Explain to the public that the City can not afford a 30 million dollar Art Center at PV but can afford one on an existing piece of City Land at a total budget of $2 million.

15 to 20 minutes. - Road Standards.- Fire Mahsi for incompetence and give Prium warning that next time he total disregards City council direction and submits a pathetic agenda report with total BS recommendations to record the resolution with the County Tax Assessor. What a bunch of incompetent morons.

20-25 minutes. - listen to the ramblings for 5 minutes and then approve the stupid invasive plans suggestions from the committee.

25 to 30 minutes. the rest of the necessary action to keep leading a City.

Its that simple. Taking 30 minutes and stretching it to 8 hours show the total lack of professionalism. Of course the above time would not including the needed time for public comment which is more important than the ego driven ramblings of City Council members.

      Delete
    3. 10:50- please run for council. You are needed. After being elected I'm sure you would be asked to head a committee on creating a city policy on time management. You would be given... Ohhh say, 7 years.

  7. Curb and Gutters and Sidewalks are not needed on most low volume streets.

Implementing them lowers aesthetics, quality of life, and property property values. Why do you think the most expensive real estate in Encintas is on streets with NO curb and gutter?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Why does ALL expensive real estate in Beverly Hills have concrete sidewalks and gutters..
Move to TJ if you love it so much. I'm sure cardboard homes is next in line for the shaffer social planning calender.

      Delete
    2. Beverly Hills is LA that why. They love putting stupid concrete in all over the place. If you love that so much you move to BH or LA.

Me- I'll stay here with no curb or gutter thank you. Just like Rancho Santa Fe, Del Mar, and Carmel and my street. I'm fine with you loving concrete. I hope your Lisa neighbor. She love it too.

You sound about as retarded as staff did last night giving that hilarious staff report. Heads should role after that pathetic report. I love all the finger pointing between Planning, Engineering, City Clerk and the City Attorney.

You could tell there is a war going on between Ed Dean and Sabine. Ed called out Sabine as being wrong. My money is Ed was wrong and should be fired within the week. Total incompetence.

    3. 10:28- sidewalks are not needed for most low volume streets... I'm paraphrasing your comment, so does that include Enc blvd at the I-5?? Do we need a death there just like st Santa Fe underpass to place concrete curbs and sidewalks?? I'm sure that 14 year old freshman from San dieguito would have preferred a sidewalk to walk on rather than the side of the road. How much did that cost the tax payers to settle that law suit?? I'm sure his mother would rather have her son back along with a sidewalk than the giant cash payout.
Btw- the driver was never charged with reckless endangerment or involuntary manslaughter, makes 3 cases where DA Bonnie has let killers go free.

    4. 9:38 - you are late to this talk- in 2007 residents begged the city to sidwalk santa fe at SDA- JErome I spent all your money Stocks said Cal trans would do it with I-5, which looks like it may be happening

though the socilialst Barth (yes, her newsletter this week promoted socialism) may yet hold yo the project as part of her plan for infill at Von's

  8. If you want curbs, gutters, sidewalks, move where they have them. Neighborhoods that don't have them don't want them: it's not like people woke up one day, walked outside, and said OMG, where's all the cement??

No need to put down those who enjoy their neighborhoods without the curbs, gutters, sidewalks as third world; rather, it's just a different community character. We talk a lot about preserving community character, figure it out.

I promise not to rip out your cement if you promise not to install it on my street: deal? It's called live and let live.

  9. F)(*& that-

Let Lisa and her curb loving crew bag us. we will leave the city of "Encintas" and go to Solana Beach. They have more understanding of Cardiff, old Encinitas and Leucadia Plus I don't think Olivenhain really wants curb and gutter right?

    ReplyDelete
  10. Why the hating on Lisa on this issue? Didn't she vote with the rest of council to stop the curb/gutter/sidewalk mandates?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yes, but she didn't have to comment that she loves curb, gutters, and sidewalks, implying that anyone who doesn't is somehow inferior to her. She reeks of arrogance and superiority, but also of a deep insecurity. She spends too much times defending her mistakes in council sessions and in her newsletter If she likes white wine better than red, she needs to respect those who prefer red wine.

    2. 7:37,

Either you have some anger issues or we were in different meetings.

Lisa said (paraphrasing): 'I like curb gutter and sidewalk. I love that my neighborhood has it. But I also love that we live in a diverse community where people who prefer something different can find what they like.' Then she voted correctly.

If you feel that statement imply a your tastes are somehow inferior, then someone does have deep insecurities, but it ain't Lisa.

      Delete
    3. Anyone defending herself so frequently at council meetings and in her newsletters doesn't have a secure ego. Sounds like you haven't attended council meetings very often or simply don't have much insight into human behavior. It's also the reason she talks so much. She is continually buttressing her ego. No one else on the council even comes close to the number of words she says per meeting.

You missed the point of the comment above yours. Why did she need to express her fondness for curbs, gutters, and sidewalks if she ended up voting against them.

      Delete
  11. Well anyway Masih won't rest until he's covered the entire city with curbs, gutters, sidewalks. WON'T REST.

If you don't want that in your neighborhood, keep an eagle eye on any projects, large or small (including remodels), and ask what the city is "requiring." Even on remodels, the city will claim curbs, gutters, sidewalks must be installed no matter what the direction from council. While things may be turning around slowly, the staff are still firmly in charge.

  18. Shaffer ventures out of the rarified air of the Ivory Tower, where academics tout each others' speculations as brilliant discourse of their concept of reality. But In the practical world, she is a fish out of water. Academics are fortunate that society has created this artificial niche (Ivory Tower) for them, as the majority are worthless in a real context. Shaffer has opened her mouth and exposed herself as irrelevant - her pomposity deflates in the light of real world problems to be addressed, for which she has no answers.

  19. Shaffer is leader of council now. Barth never was, and worse than Stocks by far, hard to believe. Muir could lead but relishing in a absurd pension occupies his time. Kranz ...can't even waste words on so Shaffer is our leader at present.
