Encinitas pulled off two wins in extreme circumstances Monday, hanging on to defeat Pacifica of Northern California, 9-7, in a night game after downing St. George (Utah) Dixie, 15-2, in an 8:30 a.m. start, both at Al Houghton Stadium.

Encinitas (15-3, 2-1 tournament) clinched a berth into the West Regional semifinals, which begin Friday. Had it lost both games, semifinals hopes could’ve been over, particularly with a loss to Hawaii in Saturday’s opener.

Way to go Boyz. You make us proud!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure glad we build Encinitas Community Park!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad we live in a country where we can built our English skills.
DeleteOur kids deserve this new park. Thank you Council! (or those who supported it)!
ReplyDeleteBarf!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Deletethat is the stupidest comment I have heard. they won this on the existing park. They do not need a new park. Its the competitive teams that will be earning bigger profits for their CEO that will benefit front the new regional sports complex. Little old Johnny will still need to play at YMCA fields.
DeleteToo stupid funny. that like saying, our fire princesses put out a garage fire, so lets build them a new $6 million dollar station.
Or, our lifeguards watched some kids put two bodies out the water at moonlight, so lets build them a $3 million dollar life guard tower.
Insanely stupid.
That's a false equivalency, it's the fire department's job to save people, same goes for lifeguards. It's more of a question of planning for new facilities, and budgeting correctly.
DeleteSadly, this city has been piss poor at that, and now some of the facilities are at the end of their life, and it's costing a bucket load to replace them.
So much for leadership..
But why are we on this topic, the kids play again tomorrow...
What I do know is that I will not vote for Councilperson that
Delete1. Supported Encinitas building a $60,000,000.00 regional sports complex all on 20,000 Encinitas tax paying citizens dime.
2. Supported Encinitas building a $3,000,000.00 life guard towers all on 20,000 Encinitas tax paying citizens dime.
I heard next, City Manager was proposing to replace all the City Facility toilets with low flow gold toilets for $150,000 each. Now thats good financial stewardship. Pffff
Vote out the losers and vote in a council that will fire the loser City Manager and get Encinitas a good one.
That park is ugly. No vision, no ambiance, and a view of a Freeway. What a major fail. The kids who play at this park will have to PAY FOR IT.
