Thanks WC. I am in agreement with you. Why not give some of our community members their own 5 minutes of fame especially for those that don't drive by there everyday. It doesn't mean a whole lot to me personally but it matters to those who know them. A little community spirit doesn't cost a thing so good on you for that and for so much more. Keep up the great work by providing such an invaluable resource for this community. I do miss some of those committed creative installations and they did indeed spoil us all. Thanks WC.
Snyder, Anne Romana, McKenzie Phillips, a super cute Valerie Bertinelli and a handy superintendent named Snyder with a tool belt. Back when they made comedy's with a moral message of kindness to others and doing teh right things for your neighbors, community and family- people had not yet been hoodwinked into "social justice" and were still following the judeo christian examples of our founding father's. I think it came on right after 'Good Times" another great example of a hard working dad, a mom, kids who respected their families and community, faith, integrity and honesty. Great bell bottoms
This just in: Seems as if Tony is going to be riding on Blakespears coattails this time: Sent: Sun, Aug 17, 2014 11:04 am Subject: FW: Endorsement Meeting Today at Oceanside Library, 2:00
Dear Friends and Supporters,
We apologize for such short notice, but we have heard that Blakespear and Kranz supporters are planning a big presences at today's endorsement meeting at the Oceanside Library.
Rules have been updated for the Democratic endorsement meeting, and supporters are allowed to attend. With this in mind, Sheila and I would be grateful for anyone who could show up to help us with the Democratic endorsement. We would like for a showing of support from about 2:00 until 3:30 at the Oceanside Library. Encinitas races will be first.
They will also be starting out with a brief discussion about pot dispensaries.
The agenda is below. If you can support us, we would appreciate it!
Please bring your friends!

7. Propositions
Escondido
Proposition G – Charter City Initiative - “Shall the City of Escondido be changed from a general law city to a charter city through the adoption of the charter proposed by Resolution 2014-70 of the Escondido City Council?”
Proposition H – Escondido Open Space and Revitalization Initiative - “Shall the people of the City of Escondido approve the following: An initiative measure to adopt the Lakes Specific Plan?”
Proposition E – Repair and Modernize Escondido Schools Bond - “To repair/replace outdated classrooms/school buildings with safe, modernized facilities, improve student safety/campus security, keep technology infrastructure up-to-date in K-8 classrooms, science labs, libraries/computer systems, acquire, construct, repair classrooms, sites/equipment, provide all students with access to the education, facilities and technology needed to succeed in high school/college, shall Escondido Union School District issues $182,100,000 in bonds at legal rate?”
Lerchbacker and Ziegler are the Reps. They can split the minority vote anyway they'd like. Blakespear and Graboi are the Dems. Their total will exceed the Reps total. There are more Dem voters in Encinitas than Rep voters. The contest is between the two Dems. Whoever gets the larger share of their total will win.
So far, Blakespear has shown herself to be a lackey of the current council's majority. Graboi has shown integrity, independence and a strong will to serve the people rather than the special interests.
Since the current council majority has broken its promises and screwed up over and over again, I'm not for the candidate they endorse. Therefore, I'll vote for Graboi. If she wins, I think she'll be a big plus for Encinitas.
Give her a break. She's new to campaigning. The current council majority and the Dem Party locals have already picked their favorites. They'll do everything they can to freeze out any challengers to the current rotten order of things.
3:25- You are right and the Dems endorsed both Kranz and Blakespear. Julie does not have a well oiled campaign machine like Blakespear, and again Kranz will ride on someone else's coattails. Personally I would rather have someone who is not indebted to any organization, but I guess 3:01 feels differently.
That stench you smell is the heat of insider collusion looking for a seat filler that is one of their own, with a council we wish would go away or retire, fire gus and glenn, fire peak democracy, represent the will of the people for a change and not just a few influencers who have had an 'in' for decades. Catherine is just another in a too long line of enablers. What will she bring to the table besides more of the same? Look at the dedication over years of Julie's efforts for this community and there is no comparison that can be made. The choice should be clear to anyone about who this town needs to begin to affect positive change. Catherine, not so much if at all. Since there has not been a single response to her political signs being placed and remaining on the public right of way we have some idea of what she bring with her.

No touting on the blog....
DeleteI doubt many people care about bush league decorations on the Cardiff Kook, so why EU keeps posting them is puzzling.
ReplyDeleteElaborate, significant alterations, fine, but not every local birthday wish, anniversary or similar.
Local politics is so depressing.
DeleteTrying to lighten it up a little.
I'm with you 2:58! Kook-pranking has been devalued.
DeleteIf a candidate made a vow that there will be no more trendy kid-name birthday wishes, nor out-of-town college colors, s/he will have my vote!

I appreciate your "light".

A little variation from politics is quite refreshing. Thanks for posting WC.
ReplyDeleteSure, if what's posted has any value.
DeleteWho is Snyder?

ReplyDeleteI think he's talking about Bryan Synder, who is an expert at jumping on the art band wagon.

8. Adjournment
I like Julie, but this is becoming a theme.
DeleteShe's confused about the rules, late, disorganized and unprepared.
We deserve better.
Kranz is pathetic.
DeleteDeserve better? And who'd that be??
DeleteWord is spreading about Julie Graboi and she is not going to be beat, not a chance.
Delete7:07,
DeleteBlakespear and Graboi have similar platforms. That's why they were both competing for the Dem endorsement.
It comes down to which one would be a more organized and effective council member, and which one can run a winning campaign.
I have not decided, but Julie is looking more like a protest vote, and less like a winner every day.
The Rostra crowd will unify behind Lerchbacker. If our vote splits, Stocks will be popping open champagne on election night.
If you hate that thought, then think twice about a protest vote.

Graboi will be the game changer for Encinitas we have always wanted. Just vote for her and you will see a new future.
DeleteGive her a break. She's new to campaigning. The current council majority and the Dem Party locals have already picked their favorites. They'll do everything they can to freeze out any challengers to the current rotten order of things.

ReplyDeleteBlakespear is beginning to smell bad....real bad.
